More than 2,000 peoplewere observed in the evening on Saturday in support of families still occupying the housing block UTOPIA , with a clear request: “Either a  solution or expropriation.”        Agencies / Kaosenlared

During the march, there was a stop at the headquarters of ‘Ibercaja Bank’, owner of the building occupied by families to demand an agreement with  bank in the negotiations that were scheduled for last Friday, and were not be carried out by the bank . For this reason , they has appealed to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to achieve fix the situation : “Either a  solution or expropriation.”

The ball is now in the hands of the Board that according to its own law , has the power to expropriate , at least temporarily , the ownership of the building housing the bank and make it available to the families living there for already more than two years.

While last spring there was mediated an agreement in principle between these families and the ownership of the building . ‘ Ibercaja ‘  the bank has asked again for ” forced eviction ” of the homes on the premise taht the families have not have complied with the terms of the agreement, thus the bank unilaterally breaking it with a campaign of lies, putting the families on the brink of eviction .

The Board will now decide whether to support the families or , as usual, (despite a few cases of expropriations that have occurred to date )- , side with the powerful and put the families in the street.

La situación sigue siendo muy complicada y las familias que conforman la Corrala Utopía aún tendrán que luchar mucho más para que su legítimo Derecho a la Vivienda se garantice. Ibercaja, de momento, no cede y no acepta un acuerdo en base al alquiler social en el edificio. El Ayuntamiento de Sevilla sigue sin dar suministros de agua y luz a las familias. Y la Junta de Andalucía, a pesar de las peticiones de las vecinas y de más de 40 colectivos ciudadanos y sociales que las apoyan, no parece que vaya a dar ningún paso hacia la expropiación.
