With hunger, disease and mass destitution has sprung a thronging popular movement to seize and settle abandoned lands on the periphery of the cities, mainly Buenos Aires. Fleeing the rackrents of the bloodsucking oligarchy who brand the okupas as ‘evil subhuman criminals’ in their bourgeois media, whole families and thousands of children are organizing and camping in their new allotments. And this despite fierce attacks by police, rightwing gangs and maybe federal troops. Surviving by mutual aid and solidarity, without water, sewers, or electricity in the winter mud.
In Latin America land ownership was always the sacred right of the rich oppressor, by brute force since the first invasion. It is still a large base of capitalist tyranny which sentences the majority to a life of hardship. Argentina is a bankrupt land of untold riches, eternally paying off blood money and interest on toxic debts to the US run banks, funds and billionaires.
Argentina is underpopulated, much of it is empty degraded ranch land owned by mega landlords. This latest ‘Land and Liberty’ movement could sweep Latin America, again, if not repressed by death squads of the fascist Right and their State.. As before, especially in Brazil, the only way left to survive may be to put our bodies on the ground and little by little create our own new barrios.

Yesterday, an unprecedented mobilization was held in Guernica to prevent eviction and under the slogan of “Land to Live.” More than 3,000 people marched through the streets of the city to the Municipality where they were received by the commissioner and the government secretary.
As the people marched, a gang broke into the occupied property, burning down the precarious shacks and firing shots. Local officials pledged to stop the terrorism of the landlord s gangs and consider providing supplies to the popular pots (collective funds) and a glass of milk to feed the children.
But despite the promises, in the afternoon news arrived of the attack of a new gang and that one of the occupiers elected delegates had been shot in the head. The coordinator of the 4 neighborhoods denounced the “liberated zone”.

A sunny morning accompanied the largest mobilization recorded in recent years in the southern area of the Buenos Aires suburbs. The four neighborhoods organized in the land grab began to arrive at 8:30 am. About 3,000 people gathered in one of the side streets of the immense area of about 100 hectares that is estimated will house about 10,000 people.
The children held banners made the day before with cardboard and plastic. Going forward, the younger ones asked the families to stay behind the main flag under the slogan that pleaded: “No to evicting ..land to live.” By 9:30 am the mobilization had not started but it was already historic. The march reached Route 210 where social organizations in the area joined in to show solidarity to prevent the eviction ordered by Judge Martín Rizzo for August 24 and that the defense lawyers have appealed. “Many of us are from the surrounding neighborhoods, some of our colleagues are also here trying to get a little piece of land because they have nowhere to live. If the eviction progresses imagine what will happen. There are thousands of people here who have an opportunity to have their home and who cannot buy by any means, ”explained a neighbor who participates in a social movement and who preferred to remain anonymous out of fear.
Between chants and applause, the column crossed the commercial center of Guernica and reached the municipality where a strong police operation surrounded the government facilities.
After a few hours, a group of delegates entered the government building where they were received by the Secretary of the Government, Matías Amato and the Guernica commissioner, Raúl García, who promised to intervene to stop the harassment of gangsters and also consider the assistance of provisions to the popular pots and a glass of milk to feed the thousands of children.
However the municipality said they could not intervene in the eviction situation that hangs over the neighborhoods. Upon leaving, the delegates reported back what had happened. Then the news came that a gang was shooting with firearms at the tiny houses in the occupied neighborhood.

While people were returning from the march to the land where the land seizure is located, a series of violent events took place, which left one person seriously injured.

This is a liberated zone, so when the police came they did nothing. They laughed at us. “
Regarding the person injured after the attack by the gang, she said: “the injured youth is 24 years old, has two children and is the husband of my daughter. He is hospitalized in the Cañuelas Basin, in Intermediate therapy. A plaque has already been made indicating that the bullet is not lodged in his head. The tomography was done and it showed that he has a skull fracture. It is with a reserved prognosis ”.

The Coordinator of delegates who organize the new neighborhoods, expressed through a statement their concern as a result of the attacks that they call “a campaign of fear.”
“This is nothing new for the residents of Guernica or our neighborhood. Payed gangsters, associated with alleged owners, as they did a few weeks ago, together with criminal sectors began a confrontation to frighten the few men, women and children who were in the neighborhoods at that time. While we mobilized to ask for a dialogue and made legal presentations, they took the opportunity to carry out attacks and terrorize the project of the working class neighborhood that we are building ”.
They added “the very serious acts of the attack wounded a colleague who is a signatory of the appeal (what a coincidence) and has taken on the task of helping the construction of the neighborhood with the ditch digging and planning, and faced groups that do not agree to the community agreements that define our assemblies, which seek respect, solidarity and mutual support. Therefore they raise article 12 and ask for the right to be heard and that their opinions have weight when it comes to a judicial decision. Others of us come from rent after rent, from living crowded together and borrowing at the homes of acquaintances, from many school changes, from repeated neighborhood moves due to the rise in rents, because we cannot buy land to live in. “
“This terrain means hope for us,” they say, “to stop changing all the time and to know that we are going to sleep there every day without anyone throwing us out. We also want a beautiful neighborhood, with places to play, with streets as our mothers and fathers are thinking ”.
They know that nothing is easy. That the police have already been threatening to remove them several times.
“We come to say that we want a place to live and we also want it for all the boys and girls who live on the land where we are.”

Sur profundo del conurbano. Presidente Perón se llama, tan resonante, el barrio de Guernica donde cientos de familias se asentaron en varios lotes limitados por un par de arroyos, calles y una ruta. Unos tres mil niños, calculan ellos mismos, pueblan la toma. Que ya tiene colgado sobre el cuello el sambenito del desalojo. Son los chicos, de la mano de sus abogadas, los que se plantan ante la justicia para pedir que no los destierren.
Que los escuchen una vez en la vida.
Hacinados, mil veces expulsados, condenados a la calle, un día de julio ellos y sus familias inundaron esas tierras vacías y yermas. Y empezaron a alzar, de a poquito, sus rudimentos de vivienda. Los niños tuvieron horizontes donde mirar y jugar a esconderse sin que los monstruos los encuentren tan sencillamente.
El 7 de agosto el juez de Garantías Nro. 8 Martín Rizzo decretó el desalojo. Un grupo de chicos, patrocinado legalmente por las abogadas Laura Taffetani y Carolina Vilchez, de la Gremial de Abogados, decidió que la Convención de los Derechos del Niño, que ya tiene 30 años y es adulta, adquiriera contenido concreto.
Enarbolan entonces el artículo 12 y piden por el derecho de ser oídos y que sus opiniones tengan peso a la hora de una resolución de la justicia. Son tres mil, son una multitud de derechos vulnerados. Una multitud de hambres, de descartes, de desamparos, de fríos, de toses y mocos crónicos frente al fantasma del covid19. Son muchos. Deben hacerse oír.Ellos mismos lo cuentan en el expediente, con la esperanza de que un día el juez los escuche, cara a cara. O por zoom, por meet o cualquiera de esas formas tecnológicas que ellos no tienen tan claras.
“Esas tierras estaban vacías, no había nadie viviendo antes y pudimos empezar a soñar el tener una casa donde vivir. No sabemos bien cuántos chicos y chicas viven con nosotros pero nuestros padres dicen que son cerca de 3.000.
Sabemos que algunos estaban en la calle después que los papás perdieron los trabajos o no pueden trabajar por la pandemia y no pudieron pagar más el alquiler.
Otros venimos de alquiler tras alquiler, de vivir amontonados y de prestados en casa de conocidos, de muchos cambios de escuela, de mudanzas reiteradas de barrio debido a la suba de los alquileres, porque no podemos comprar una tierra donde vivir”.

“Este terreno nos significa una esperanza –dicen-, dejar de estar cambiando todo el tiempo y saber que vamos a dormir allí todos los días sin que nadie nos eche. Queremos también un barrio lindo, con lugares donde jugar, con calles como lo están pensando nuestros papás y mamás”.
Ellos saben que nada es fácil. Que la policía ya estuvo varias veces amenazando con sacarlos. “Venimos a decir que queremos un lugar donde vivir y también lo queremos para todos los chicos y chicas que viven en los terrenos donde estamos”.
Entonces firman y dicen en la presentación ante la Justicia. Lo dicen con sus nombres, sus apellidos y sus palabras, como para que se entienda. Como para que los que deciden sepan que hay centenares de niños fuera de agenda, que sólo son vistos por el estado cuando hay que reprimirlos o cuando el abandono los mata, que gritan y los oídos institucionales se mantienen en una sordera impasible.
“Me llamo Maca y tengo once años. Vinimos a buscar un lugar porque no tenemos donde vivir. Mi mamá estuvo alquilando en un lugar que era muy feo, entonces nos salimos. Como mi mamá no tenía lugar donde estar nos dejó unos días en la casa de mi abuela y ella con mi papá se fueron a buscar un lugar, hasta que después llegó este lugar donde estamos viviendo, entonces mi mamá dijo
s a tener donde vivir. Además a mí me gustó mucho este lugar porque es muy silencioso, en todos los lugares donde fuimos antes había muchos gritos y mucha música fuerte a la noche.
“Soy Eli, quiero contar el motivo de la toma de terrenos que está haciendo mi papá, mis tíos y mis tías, nosotros vivimos en la villa 21, en una pieza alquilada, es inseguro donde estamos, mi sueño es tener una casa propia, vivir en un barrio tranquilo para poder jugar con mi hermanita que tiene dos añitos, y mis primos también están acá, una tiene doce años, otro 17 y otro primo de cinco años. Queremos tener un lugar decente para jugar.
“Mi nombre es Antonella, tengo once años, quiero decir que necesitamos un pedazo de tierra para hacernos una casa, porque vivimos en alquiler y nuestros papás no pueden trabajar por el tema de la pandemia, queremos que nos den un poquito de tierra, queremos vivir en un barrio tranquilo.

Ayer, se realizó una movilización nunca vista en Guernica para evitar el desalojo y bajo la consigna de “Tierra para vivir”. Mas de 3 mil personas marcharon por las calles de la ciudad hasta el Municipio donde fueron recibidas por el comisario y el secretario de Gobierno.
Mientras la gente marchaba, una patota irrumpió en el predio quemando las chozas precarias y propinando disparos. Los funcionarios se comprometieron a detener los hostigamientos de la patotas y considerar la asistencia de provisiones a las ollas populares y copa de leche que se realizan para alimentar a los niños.

Una mañana soleada acompañó a la movilización más grande que se registró en los últimos años en la zona sur del conurbano bonaerense. Los cuatro barrios organizados en la toma de tierras comenzaron a llegar desde las 8:30hs. Unas 3 mil personas se encolumnaban en una de las calles laterales del inmenso predio de unas 100 hectáreas que se calcula alberga a unas 10 mil personas.
Los niños sostenían pancartas confeccionadas el día anterior con cartones y plásticos. Adelante, las y los más jóvenes pedían a las familias que se mantengan detrás de la bandera principal bajo con la consigna que suplicaba: “No al desalojo tierra para vivir” . Para las 9:30hs la movilización no había arrancado pero ya era histórica. Cuadras y cuadras de familias se extendían a lo largo. Familias con carritos, en bicicletas y ancianas, todos movilizaban y algunos se quedaban a resguardar las endebles casitas.
La marcha llegó hasta la ruta 210 donde se sumaron organizaciones sociales de la zona que se acercaron a solidarizarse para evitar el desalojo ordenado por el juez Martín Rizzo para el 24 de agosto y que los abogados defensores han apelado. “Muchos somos vecinos de los barrios de alrededor, algunos compañeros nuestros también están acá tratando de conseguir un pedacito de tierra porque no tiene en donde vivir. Si avanza el desalojo imaginate lo que va a pasar. Acá hay miles de personas que tienen una oportunidad para tener su casa y que no pueden comprar por ningún medio”, explicaba un vecino que participa en un movimiento social y que prefirió mantener el anonimato por temor.
Entre cánticos y aplausos, la columna cruzó el centro comercial de Guernica y llegó hasta el municipio donde un fuerte operativo policial rodeaba las instalaciones gubernamentales. Luego de unas horas un grupo de delegadas ingreso al edificio de gobierno en donde fueron recibidos por el Secretario de Gobierno, Matías Amato y el comisario de Guernica, Raúl García, quienes se comprometieron a intervenir para que se detengan las hostigaciones de patotas y también considerar la asistencia de provisiones a las ollas populares y copa de leche que se realizan para alimentar a los miles de niños.
Aunque desde el municipio dijeron que no podían intervenir sobre la situación de desalojo que pendía sobre los barrios. Al salir, las delegadas comunicaron lo acontecido y llego la noticia que una patota esta disparando con armas de fuego contra las casitas de un barrio.
Ataque de patotas: “Vinieron al barrio San Martin a los tiros y quemaron las carpitas de la gente”
Mientras la gente volvía desde la marcha al predio donde se encuentra la toma de tierras, sucedieron una serie de hechos violentos, que dejaron como resultado una persona herida de gravedad.
ANRed diálogo con una vecina que participa en la toma, “en el trayecto de la mañana que hubo la marcha, uno que dice ser supuesto poseedor de la tierra, mando gente de él que vinieron al barrio San Martin a los tiros y quemaron las carpitas de la gente. Empezaron a los tiros y después se calmo”.
Agregó “justo habíamos terminado de servir la comida, como a las 14hs que la gente venía llegando de la marcha. Pasaron cuatro individuos, que estaban armados. Le preguntamos ¿dónde iban?¿Por qué entraban por este lado a causar problemas?. Un par de compañeros de acá de la toma, se fueron a ver qué era lo que estaba pasando.
Cuando se arrimaron al borde del zanjón, ya venían tirando tiros. Uno saco un arma automática, que la saco de la cintura y disparo para todos lados y ahí es donde mi yerno recibe el impacto de bala en el lado izquierdo del cráneo. Automáticamente lo trajeron para el lado que estábamos nosotros, un vecino puso el auto y lo trasladamos hasta el hospital de Guernica, le hicieron la placa y de ahí lo trasladaron a Cañuelas. Esto fue zona liberada, porque la policía vino y no hizo nada. Se reían de nosotros.”
En cuanto a la persona herida luego del ataque que inició la patota, dijo: “el chico lastimado tiene 24 años, dos hijos y es el marido de mi hija. Está internado en el Cuenca de Cañuelas, en terapia Intermedia. Ya se hizo una placa que indica que no tiene la bala alojada en la cabeza. Se le hizo la tomografía y arrojó que tiene fractura de cráneo. Está con pronóstico reservado”.
Desde la Coordinadora de delegados y delegadas que organizan los barrios, expresaron mediante un comunicado su preocupación a raíz de los ataques que señalan como “una campaña de miedo”.
“Esto no es nada nuevo para los vecinos de Guernica ni de nuestro barrio. Punteros, patotas, asociados a supuestos dueños, como hicieron hace unas semanas atrás, junto con sectores delictivos empezaron un enfrentamiento para atemorizar a las mujeres varones y pocos niñez que había en los barrios en ese momento. Mientras movilizamos para pedir una mesa de dialogo y hacíamos presentaciones judiciales nuevamente aprovechan para realizar ataques y poder ensuciar el proyecto de barrio obrero que estamos construyendo”.
Agregaron “los hechos gravísimos de ataque dejaron herido, entre varios, a un compañero que es firmante de la causa de apelación (que casualidad) y ha tomado la tarea de ayudar a la construcción del barrio con los zanjeos y planificación y también enfrentado a grupos que no acuerdan los acuerdos comunitarios que definen nuestras asambleas, buscando el respeto la solidaridad y el apoyo mutuo. Queremos fuera de los barrios a los grupos que son funcionales a los que quieren criminalizar la pobreza y tapar la necesidad de la mayoría de los q hoy están en esas tierras”.

Mientras miles de personas movilizamos pacíficamente hacia la municipalidad de Presidente Perón contra el desalojo y por tierra para vivir a las 13hs nos llegan noticias de ataque de una patota en la recuperación de tierras.
Esto no es nada nuevo para los vecinos de Guernica ni de nuestro barrio. Punteros, patotas, asociados a supuestos dueños, como hicieron hace unas semanas atrás, junto con sectores delictivos empezaron un enfrentamiento para atemorizar a las mujeres varones y pocos niñez que había en los barrios en ese momento.
Mientras movilizamos para pedir una mesa de dialogo y hacíamos presentaciones judiciales nuevamente aprovechan para realizar ataques y poder ensuciar el proyecto de barrio obrero que estamos construyendo.
Igual mas allá de este nuevo y gravisisimo hostigamiento que deja heridos, la municipalidad firmo un reconocimiento a nuestro existencia y necesidades. Firmaron un acta donde nos reconocen en conjunto con nuestras delegadas. Acordando con la necesidad de analizar que tienen que brindar apoyo a la grave situación social y de salud que hay en la recuperación de tierras. A lo cual esperamos pronta respuesta.
Los hechos gravisimos de ataque dejaron herido, entre varios, a un compañero que es firmante de la causa de apelación (que casualidad) y ha tomado la tarea de ayudar a la construcción del barrio con los zanjeos y planificación y también enfrentado a grupos que no acuerdan los acuerdos comunitarios que definen nuestras asambleas, buscando el respeto la solidaridad y el apoyo
