Oaxaca: Femicidal Violence Continues to Rise
In the last week, six women were reported murdered, bringing the total to 91 women murdered in Oaxaca in 2024.
The organization Consortium for Parliamentary Dialogue and Equity condemned the escalation of femicidal violence recorded in recent months due to the inaction of the Government of Oaxaca, which, it said, is responsible for guaranteeing the lives of Oaxacan women.
“We demand that Salomon Jara guarantee the safety of women and girls given the violence that permeates Oaxaca, which is reflected in 677 disappearances and 204 femicides during his government,” its members indicated.
It is also worth remembering that Datos de México Evalua, an organization dedicated to collecting data on government actions, indicates that in Oaxaca impunity for the crime of femicide reaches 100%, while in cases of disappearance it is 99.6%.
The Oaxaca (pronounced owachaka) local government is controlled by the entrenched white oligarchy which owns land, industry and the legal system, inheriting extreme racism and sexismo and dedicated to terrorist violence against the large and organised indigenous communities.

Hundreds of mainly indigenous people DISAPPEARED by far right rulers in Oaxaca with ongoing Impunity
“The recognition of the human rights of kidnapped and murdered people has been slow; 147 cases registered so far iin 2024.
For many years there has been no will on the part of some institutions and public policies of the past were not appropriate.
In addition, the lack of legislation to address this social phenomenon has placed the victims in a state of vulnerability,” said Elizabeth Lara Rodriguez during her speech.
The majority are inhabitants of indigenous towns and communities.”
