Last Saturday, Barcelona experienced a historic day with the largest demonstration for the right to housing in the history of the Spanish State. 170,000 people filled the streets of the city center to demand the four urgent measures against speculation: lowering rents, indefinite contracts, recovery of empty, tourist and seasonal homes and a ban on buying for speculation.

The march, called by more than 4,000 organizations, had around thirty separate columns that met up from all over Catalonia on foot, by bus or by train.

(slightly edited update after the event!) This year marks the 20th anniversary of the birth of the Office for the Occupation of Karcelona and to celebrate it, we will hold three events this fall.

The first of them was on Friday, November 22, from 7pm to 11pm at La Cinètika where the website of the Office for the Occupation, the Library of Tools and other initiatives that support the occupation in different areas was presented. A space to share knowledge and practical resources, and to foster connections and alliances.

The following projects and Occupied Anarchist Squat Centers, CSOA’s, presented their “Resources for the Occupation“: La Revoltosa + Ateneu Llibertari de Gràcia + Aliança contra la Pobresa Energética + La Mosca TV + La Korrosiva + Barcelona Posa’t Sostre + Blokes Fantasma + Coati + Ràdio Bronka + Kan Pasqual + Arrels Advocats + La Bandida + Can Batlló Documentation Center + La Squatxeria..

The long running occupied ‘autonomous anticapitalist cinema’ was full, with several hundred taking part.

La Mosca TV lamoscatv – canal lliure i comunitari de Barcelona showed a specially made clip of the history of the modern squatters movement in Catalunya on the big screen.

Kan Pasqual produced an exhibition of squatters and anarchist posters of the last 30 years and hung it around the huge center.

And at 9:30 pm there was a ‘Bocaos’, the vegan supper of La Cinètika!

IWW stands in solidarity with CNT-AIT against the use of the State Judiciary by the split CNT- CIT to steal their name!.. what next?!

An authoritarian split from the CNT-AIT (Anarchist Workers Confederation – International Workers’ Association) has registered and taken a court case gaining sole legal use of the initials CNT, used by the CNT-AIT for 150 years! Some branches of the International Workers of the World,-Wobblies,IWW have sent this solidarity message to the CNT.

We, the Regional Administration of Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England (WISE-RA, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England Regional Administration) of the Industrial Workers of the World (I.W.W., Industrial Workers of the World), are aware of the situation in course between the National Labor Confederation – International Labor Confederation (CNT-CIT) and the National Labor Confederation – International Workers’ Association (CNT-AIT).

This situation has turned into a legal case that could lead to fellow trade unionists receiving incredibly high fines or prison terms….As members of the ICL-CIT (International Confederation of Labor – Confederación Internacional del Trabajo), we are incredibly concerned about these possible sanctions. As a revolutionary class union, we abhor state violence, especially when this state violence threatens those who try build a better world

Previously, we have shown our solidarity towards the 6 workers of the company Suisse, and we have condemned the prison sentence they are facing. It would be hypocritical if we did not show the same solidarity towards the members of the CNT-AIT threatened with prison sentences.

We hope that the CNT-CIT and the CNT-AIT can settle the differences through arbitration or mediation….
