Peru: Keiko quiere esterilizar mujeres pobres

If she wins the election Keiko Fujimori will hand he country to the bankers and speculators. She also plans to extend her father’s program of forced sterilizations of poor women.

.El Plan de Gobierno de Fuerza 2011 no contempla ninguna medida efectiva para la salud reproductiva de la mujer por lo que las prácticas de esterilizaciones masivas compulsivas serían una práctica habitual en caso de instalarse Keiko Fujimori en el gobierno, vaticinó el analista político peruano Mauricio Quiroz T., VicePresidente del Instituto Pueblo Continente.
En las tres páginas de su Plan de Gobierno de solo 58 páginas, dedicadas al sector salud, no existe una sola medida sustantiva al respecto y menos sobre investigar las mas de 300,000 esterilizaciones masivas practicadas durante el gobierno del japonés Alberto Fujimori, que gobernó dictatorialmente al Perú en la década del ’90.

Además, contra la experiencia internacional y el notable desarrollo laboral femenino, Keiko Fujimori pretende que las mujeres peruanas solo estén en casa cocinando mejor pues solo busca educar a la madre en “prácticas nutricionales”, conforme señala su Plan de Gobierno en su página 17.

Un Gobierno de Fuerza 2011 y Keiko Fujmori, entonces, no sólo protegerán a los funcionarios corruptos de su administración , como ya hemos denunciado anteriormente (http://colombia.indymedia.org/news/2011/05/121943.php sino que continuarán las prácticas masivas de esterilizaciones contra la voluntad de las mujeres.

No en vano, agregó el analista, tiene entre sus asesores al médico Alejandro Aguinaga, uno de los promotores de dicha medida durante la dictadura fujimontesinista peruana.

MUMBAI, May 27, 2011 (IPS) – More than a decade ago, when India’s first lesbian-themed film – ‘Fire’ by Deepa Mehta – was released, it was booed and met with protest and vandalism, forcing many fear-stricken theatre owners to take the film off their screens.

Thirteen years on and nearly two years after decriminalisation of homosexuality by a high court in India, a queer film festival in Mumbai is drawing audiences fearlessly from both within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community and outside it.

KASHISH 2011 is the second edition of India’s largest queer film festival that showcases LGBT films, and it is passing without a murmur of protest from any moral brigade.

Chinese scientists at the Shanghai Second Medical University in 2003 successfully fused human cells with rabbit eggs. The embryos were reportedly the first human-animal chimeras successfully created. They were allowed to develop for several days in a laboratory dish before the scientists destroyed the embryos to harvest their stem cells.

In Minnesota last year researchers at the Mayo Clinic created pigs with human blood flowing through their bodies.

And at Stanford University in California an experiment might be done later this year to create mice with human brains.

Scientists feel that, the more humanlike the animal, the better research model it makes for testing drugs or possibly growing “spare parts,” such as livers, to transplant into humans.

Watching how human cells mature and interact in a living creature may also lead to the discoveries of new medical treatments.

But creating human-animal chimeras—named after a monster in Greek mythology that had a lion’s head, goat’s body, and serpent’s tail—has raised troubling questions, this is even worse than experimenting on normal animals: What new subhuman combination should be produced and for what purpose? At what point would it be considered human and have human rights?

There are currently no U.S. federal laws that address these issues.

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, May 19, 2011 (IPS) – Known as the cradle of the revolution and of the conga, but also as one of the most machista places in Cuba, the city of Santiago in the east of the island was the scene of two days of activities demanding respect and freedom for different sexual orientations and gender identities.

Panels, debates, workshops and other awareness-raising exercises were joined by the Conga de los Hoyos, a famous local carnival group, which paraded down several blocks of downtown Santiago Tuesday followed by a crowd of hundreds of people, some waving Cuban and rainbow flags, others frowning and gesturing their disapproval….
