A coordinated ‘National Shutdown’ protest against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) erupted on Friday, with massive crowds filling the streets of Minneapolis, and culminating in intense confrontations in downtown Los Angeles.
Organizers called on Americans to abstain from work, school, and shopping in a mass strike aimed at halting what they call “ICE terror” and pressuring the federal government to end the immigration raids.
The protests were fueled by growing outrage over the fatal shootings of two US citizens – Renee Good and Alex Pretti – by federal agents during recent enforcement operations in Minneapolis.
🚨 BREAKING: Absolute MAYHEM breaking out at the federal facility in Los Angeles, as rioters descend on the building
In Los Angeles, what began as a peaceful rally devolved into one of the day’s most serious clashes.
Thousands of demonstrators marched through the downtown streets, many carrying signs reading “ICE Out of Everywhere” and chanting against federal immigration raids.
Never forget that it was decentralized, autonomous, grassroots direct action that achieved this victory—not politicians, parties, or petitioning.
Remember, WE HAVE NOT WON YET!
ICE is still kidnapping and terrorizing people in the Twin Cities and all around the country!
Trump has built ICE to be the shock troops with which to establish autocracy, but thanks to popular resistance, he is losing control of the narrative. Yet Democrats are already scheming to squander the advantage that Renee Good and Alex Pretti paid for with their lives.
What ordinary people gain in the streets, politicians will sell away behind closed doors for their own personal gain.
No one is coming to save us! We have to win this for ourselves through grassroots direct action!
Minnesota is the dam holding back the flood of tyranny. The resistance is stronger than ever but we need your help. There is safety in numbers and already thousands in the streets. Minnesota is drawing a line in the sand. What are you waiting for?
CRUSH ICE BEFORE THEY ARE EVERYWHERE.
On January 25, in response to the murder of Alex Pretti, protesters converged on a hotel harboring ICE mercenaries. We’ve added an additional eyewitness account of these events to our text about the demonstrations at hotels in the Twin Cities.https://crimethinc.com/J25Minneapolis
The ones who remained with ICE over the past year are there because they want to do this to you.
They want to be stormtroopers, like Gregory Bovino in his Gestapo jacket.
They signed up because they want to kidnap children.
They want to pepper-spray grandmothers.
They want to murder mothers like Renee Good.
Not just for the money, but for the thrill of kidnapping, torturing, and killing with impunity.
Every single one of them. The others already quit.
You can see this in how shamelessly they lie, how they justify their acts. The rank and file as well as the leadership.
If there is an element in society that must be purged for everyone to be safe, it is ICE.
It’s them or us.
If we do not come together, if we do not organize to resist them, the future will be more horrific than anything we can imagine today.
But if we get organized, if we form networks, if we get used to acting together, we will be able to create a better world—a world in which no one must live in fear of ICE or other predators.CrimethInc. Ex-Workers Collective, [24/01/2026 21:47]

Anarchist Zines and Pamphlets – October 2018
The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas + The Day Before the Revolution
This zine compiled by the Chicago Anarchist Black Cross collects two short stories by the anarchist author Ursula K. LeGuin. “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” comes from the 1973 collection of short stories The Wind’s Twelve Quarters, while “The Day Before the Revolution” is taken from the introduction the classic The Dispossessed. Ursula K. LeGuin passed away earlier this year. For those not familiar with her work, this piece from Fifth Estate provides a good introduction.
