TINY HOUSES PROJECT AT SUSTAINABILITY PARK RAIDED BY COPS, TEN ARRESTED

On Saturday, October 24, at Sustainability Park, a City of Denver property near the intersection of 25th and Lawrence, a Tiny Houses project being built under the auspices of advocates from Denver Homeless Out Loud, was raided by the Denver Police Department.

Ten activists were arrested and the encampment was dismantled.

Last night, DHOL representatives were back on the scene, reinforcing their commitment to rebuild what has been referred to as Resurrection Village or Little Denver.

The Tiny Houses project wasn’t kept under wraps. Indeed, it was the subject of an online campaign that raised more than $5,000 through October 21…….read more here

New operation ordered by Spanish National Court against Catalan libertarian movement

The Police have this morning arrested at least nine people accused of ”organizing a terrorist group” in a new political operation led by the National Court. Hundreds of Catalan police smashed into and searched various anarchist social centers and local homes from 7.00 am in the neighborhoods of Sants, Gracia, Clot and Sant Andreu in the city of Barcelona, and in the city of Manresa.

the police attacks were ordered by is the Spanish National Court as a new phase in the much criticised and ridiculed ‘ Pandora operation’, as confirmed by a note from the Catalan police, the first phase resulted in the arrest of ten people and preventive imprisonment of seven of them last December (finally all were released on bail due to lack of evidence)..

Among the targets this time is the Revoltosa Occupiued Social Center in in Clot, and the main Anarchist Ateneo center in Sants, at Maria Victoria St, where ten vans of riot police were deployed.

When the news got out, dozens of people have gathered to show their solidarity and have cut the principle Sants high street behind a banner in support of the detainees

Update on the situation of Monica Caballero and Francisco Solar

It’s been almost two long years since the anarchists Monica and Francisco were jailed on charges of belonging to a terrorist organization, criminal damage and conspiracy . During this time they have lived in the isolation cells of various Spanish prisons, experiencing the dreaded ‘FIES’ regime and dispersion, but always reaffirming their ideas and illustrating once again the insurmountable gap between the world that anarchists pursue and that imposed by Power.

Two years is a long time. There has been time, for example, to perform two more antiterrorist operations, Pandora and Piñata, connecting the three cases by the acronym GAC-FAI-FRI and charging a total of 25 comrades from different parts of the peninsula with ‘terrorism’. There has been also enough time for us to understand the challenge of imprisonment, solidarity and closer links between comrades.

Rojava: the real frontline against ISIS; inside the Kurdish revolution

Since their successful defense of Kobanê against the Islamic State a year ago, the Kurdish resistance movement – specifically the YPG (men’s milita) and YPJ (women’s militia) – has captured international media attention. Meanwhile, their experiment in forming a stateless society in the autonomous cantons of Rojava have fascinated anarchists across the world. But in order to understand this Kurdish resistance in Rojava (western Kurdistan) we need to take a broader look at the struggles for freedom and autonomy across the region. Below is an interview with two members of a network of internationalist anarchists in Germany who spent time in Bakur (northern Kurdistan), learning from the struggles taking place there. Beginning with a historical overview of the emergence of the Kurdish movement and the PKK’s “new paradigm” of the last decade they describe how their experiences in Kurdistan reframed their understanding of anarchist struggles elsewhere across the globe.
