In 1983, a military clique in Burkina Faso assassinated the anti-imperialist head of state Thomas Sankara, plunging the nation back into the clutches of U.S. and French neocolonialism. The people this year ousted the assassins and their presidential guard, in two mass rebellions.

nuclear-weapon-400x225Most are protected by the NATO/ US nuclear umbrella. Britain has no need to possess its own nuclear deterrent. It is not Pakistan, North Korea or Israel with an agenda for territorial expansion or colonisation or illegal settlements.

Unlike the three states above, Britain is a NATO signatory to the nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the United Nations.

Whilst the primary duty of any government is the protection of the state – that does not require a nuclear arsenal of weapons of mass destruction.

Female Genital Mutilation Banned In Nigeria!

Nigeria’s president has signed legislation banning Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), a practice commonly carried out to “initiate teenagers into womanhood according to Sebei traditional rites.”

 In what international advocates are calling a progressive step in the right direction, Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has signed a bill officially banning the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). In addition to the banning of FGM, The Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015 will also prevent men from leaving their families without proving financial support.
