One of the four feminist squats announced on 8-M in Barcelona has been evicted
As part of the Fem Llars Feministes campaign (‘Let’s make Feminist Homes’), the women of the Right to Housing movement made public four occupations in the Gràcia, Trinitat Vella, Sants and Poble-sec neighborhoods yesterday, eleven flats in total.

It is the second year that the housing right movement, with the complicity of the feminist movement, is occupying real estate on the 8th of March. During the day yesterday, housing squatters were announced in several neighborhoods of Barcelona: an entire block in Gràcia, another in Sants, a flat in Poble-sec and another in Trinitat Vella.
In total, eleven housing units for women involved in various groups and unions, which today in a press conference wanted to claim publicly that the housing problem has a “woman’s face”, but at the same time they are the ones who are on the front line of the fight.
Just after the press conference ended in front of the busy block in Gràcia, on Maurici Sarrahima Street, the Mossos anti-riot unit arrived to carry out the eviction.
Last night, about a dozen Brimo’s (Riot Police) units had already attempted a night eviction, which housing groups had avoided by placing a barricade of furniture in front of the building and calling for a popular dinner.
Activists say that the block was empty for two years and explained that they were in contact with the property to negotiate. However, the eviction was carried out and two people were identified by the police.
For the moment, the rest of the houses are still continuing, although the Sants Housing Group has stated that the property comnpany has tried to enter the squatted property on Sagunto Street, which they have christened Ca la Kris, and they called for strength to resist the attempt to oust them.
The first occupation that was made public during the day yesterday was precisely the one in the Sants district. The Feminist Space and the Sants Housing Group, about two in the afternoon, announced that women in the neighborhood had occupied six apartments on Sagunt Street, a property owned, according to the Housing Group, by Dinder trade SL .
Later, the occupation of a flat on Tapioles Street in the hands of Divarian was announced for a woman with her underage child. The investment fund is the real estate brand of BBVA and Cerberus, managed in Spain by the eldest son of former Spanish President José María Aznar, José María Aznar Botella, through a subsidiary, Haya Real Estate.
As part of the Fem Llars Feministes campaign, a block was also occupied last year on the occasion of the feminist strike, when a demonstration of about 400 people took over a building in the Poble-sec district.

Barbara, from the Gràcia Housing Union, reminded in the press conference that all the occupations made public, like last year’s, were non-mixed – only by women – and insisted on the fact that women are the ones who “in the day to day assume the defense of the home because they assume the tasks of care and reproductive work”.
According to a report by the DESC Observatory and the Platform for tyhe Mortgage Affected (PAH) on the right to housing and energy poverty in Barcelona from a gender perspective, drawn up in 2018, women are overrepresented in eviction processes, a fact “of particular concern” for the difficulties they have with access to new housing “in decent conditions”.

És el segon any que el moviment pel dret a l’habitatge, amb la complicitat del moviment feminista, okupa immobles amb motiu del 8 de Març. Durant la jornada d’ahir, es van fer públiques okupacions d’habitatges a diversos barris de Barcelona: un bloc sencer a Gràcia, un altre a Sants, un pis a Poble-sec i un altre a Trinitat Vella. En total, onze habitatges per a dones implicades en diversos grups i sindicats, que avui en roda de premsa han volgut posar sobre la taula que la problemàtica de l’habitatge té “rostre de dona”, però que alhora, són elles les que estan a primera línia de la lluita.
Just quan la roda de premsa ha finalitzat davant del bloc okupat a Gràcia, al carrer Maurici Sarrahima, ha arribat la unitat d’antiavalots dels Mossos per efectuar el desallotjament. Ahir a la nit, una desena de dotacions de la Brimo ja va intentar un desallotjament nocturn, que els grups d’habitatge van aconseguir evitar, col·locant una barricada de mobiliari davant l’edifici i convocant un sopar popular.

Les activistes asseguren que fa dos anys que el bloc està buit i han explicat que estaven en contacte amb la propietat per negociar. Tot i això, el desenonament s’ha executat i la policia ha identificat dues persones. De moment, la resta d’habitatges continuen en peu, tot i que el Grup d’Habitatge de Sants ha denunciat que la propietat ha intentat entrar a l’immoble okupat al carrer de Sagunt, que han batejat com Ca la Kris, i ha fet una crida a sumar forces per resistir a l’intent de fer-les fora.
Bàrbara del Sindicat d’Habitatge de Gràcia ha recordat que totes les okupacions d’ahir, com la de l’any passat, es van fer de manera no mixta i ha insistit en el fet que les dones són les que “assumeixen la defensa de la llar perquè assumeixen les tasques de cures i reproductives”
La primera okupació que es va fer pública durant la jornada d’ahir va ser precisament la del barri de Sants. L’Espai Feminista i el Grup d’Habitatge de Sants, passades les dues del migdia, anunciaven que dones del barri havien okupació sis pisos al carrer Sagunt, un immoble propietat, segons el Grup d’Habitatge, de l’empresa Dinder trade SL.
Més tard, s’anunciava l’okupació un pis al carrer Tapioles a mans de Divarian per a una dona amb la seva criatura menor d’edat. El fons d’inversió és la marca immobiliària de BBVA i Cerberus, gestionat a l’Estat espanyol pel fill major de l’expresident espanyol José María Aznar, José María Aznar Botella, a través d’una filial, Haya Real Estate.
En el marc de la campanya Fem Llars Feministes, l’any passat, amb motiu de la vaga feminista, també va néixer un bloc, quan una manifestació no mixta d’unes 400 persones va acabar amb l’ocupació de l’edifici al carrer de França Xica al barri del Poble-sec. Bàrbara, del Sindicat d’Habitatge de Gràcia, ha recordat a la roda de premsa que totes les okupacions fetes públiques ahir, com la de l’any passat, es van fer de manera no mixta –només per part de dones– i ha insistit en el fet que les dones són les que “en el dia a dia, assumeixen la defensa de la llar perquè assumeixen les tasques de cures i reproductives”.
