Tuesday June 27, 2023, around 8 a.m. in Nanterre, the police shot dead a 17-year-old minor during a “road check”.
Gun pointed at Nahel, the cop says “You’re going to get shot in the head”, the other cop says “shoot him!” “, a few seconds later, being absolutely not in danger, the policeman coldly shoots him at point-blank range. It is a summary execution.
Full support and condolences to his family and loved ones.
This police murder is neither a blunder nor an isolated case, only in the year 2022 it is 13 people who were killed during a “refusal to comply”.
The police kill and justice is complicit. The suburbs are true laboratories of state violence and uninhibited racism, the populations live there permanently under the zeal of the police, who indulge in the worst acts with complete impunity.
During the day, it is an outburst of hatred, contempt, lies that will smear Nahel.
The police unions congratulate the cop for having fired, the extreme right and the state invent him a criminal record and go so far as to say that the only responsible are his parents who did not educate him.
A cop arriving at the scene of the murder, will even say to a woman “go back to Africa”, when they have just killed a minor.
More than ever, support the popular revolts! Abolish the police is a necessity!
We call to join all the rallies of support and spontaneous mobilizations against racism and police crimes!

Macron’s authoritarianism sparks uprising

Macron once promised to turn the French State mechanism into a “start-up” State, and this is exactly what he delivers: an authoritarian entity that doesn’t shy at murdering 17 year olds, criminalising ecological activism, and abolishing labour rights, when any of these stands in the way of its plans.
Macron’s authoritarian project is not a deviation from representative institutions. Political representation is based on the logic of professionalising politics and closing off the grassroots from directly participating in decision-making processes.
Following the logic of technocracy, Macron’s “start-up” state continues down the same path, turning the politician into the absolute professional, following entirely with the principles of the company model where the boss is always right.
Macron’s rising authoritarianism is also exemplary for the untrustworthiness of political representation. In May 2022, he was re-elected with the support of many on the Left who had not endorsed him in the first round, but were urged to vote in the second round to keep out his far-right challenger Marine Le Pen.
In his victory speech, he acknowledged this, saying that the result “obliges me”. It is clear that he wasn’t voted to implement such an authoritarian project, and he knows this perfectly well himself, but he is proceeding anyway, ready to trample over any resistance.
As a result police brutality has peaked, leading to the point that 77% of people in France now say they regard Macron as “authoritarian”.
But his authoritarianism has been met with new forms of popular resistance in the forms of series of decentralised rallies — it is important to note the promotion and organisation of these rallies often takes place on social media and outside of traditional political and trade union networks.
And often these old bureaucratic organizations come at odds with the new uprisings and resistance movements, as is the case with the French Communist Party that condemns the latest violent protests over the deadly police shooting of a 17 year old boy.
And since the movement of the gilets jaunes, where with every new day a new action and a new location came along, there is a tendency of demonstrators to form small groups, which then roam the city playing cat and mouse with the police, and dispersing before reappearing in different locations.
It is very important that we all support the popular uprising of the people in France, as authoritarianism seems to be rising all over Europe and beyond.
And that we quickly move beyond the imaginary of representative and reinvent direct democracy, so that we can de-professionalise politics and let societies speak for themselves and institute their lives in common in accordance to their shared interests and desires, and not for the profits and hunger for power of the elites.

Mardi 27 juin 2023, vers 8h à Nanterre, la police a abattu un jeune mineur de 17 ans lors d’un “contrôle routier”. Arme pointée sur Nahel, le flic dit « Tu vas te prendre une balle dans la tête », l’autre flic dit « shoot le ! », quelques secondes plus tard, n’étant absolument pas en danger, le policier lui tire froidement une balle à bout portant. C’est une exécution sommaire.
Soutien total et condoléances à sa famille et ses proches.
Ce meurtre policier n’est ni une bavure, ni un cas isolé, seulement sur l’année 2022 c’est 13 personnes qui ont été tués lors d’un “refus d’obtempérer”. La police tue et la justice est complice. Les banlieues sont de véritables laboratoires de la violence d’État et du racisme décomplexé, les populations y vivent en permanence sous le zèle de la police, qui s’adonne aux pires agissements en toute impunité.
Durant la journée, c’est un déchaînement de haine, de mépris, de mensonges qui vont salir Nahel. Les syndicats de police félicitent le flic d’avoir tiré, l’extrême droite et l’état lui inventent un casier judiciaire et vont jusqu’à dire que les seules responsables sont ses parents qui ne l’ont pas éduqué. Un flic arrivant sur les lieux du meurtre, lancera même à une femme « retourne en Afrique », alors qu’ils viennent de tuer un mineur.
Plus que jamais, soutiens aux révoltes populaires ! Abolir la police est une nécessité !
Nous appelons à rejoindre tous les rassemblements de soutiens et mobilisations spontanées contre le racisme et les crimes policiers !
