La organización de Estibadores Portuarios de Barcelona (OEPB), el sindicato mayoritario entre los más de 1.200 estibadores del puerto de Barcelona, ha decidido en asamblea bloquear toda actividad relacionada con el transporte de material bélico a Israel y Palestina.
Las muestras de rechazo ante el genocidio que está llevando el Estado de Israel en Gaza no paran de sucederse. Desde manifestaciones multitudinarias que no cesan en cualquier latitud del mundo a muestras de solidaridad y rechazo de miles de organizaciones y colectivos.
En este sentido, este lunes los estibadores de Barcelona han decidido, en asamblea, “no permitir la actividad” de barcos que envíen armas a Palestina e Israel.
Como señalan en su comunicado, este posicionamiento se debe a la continua violación de los Derechos Humanos que se está llevando a cabo en Palestina y en otras partes del mundo. Una violación de derechos, señalan, permitida y o llevada a cabo por países firmantes de la propia Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos.
En el mismo, señalan el papel de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, que si bien en las últimas semanas ha visto tensada su relación diplomática con Israel, lo cierto es que desde 1948 ha mantenido una posición de complicidad y permisividad con el Estado sionista de Israel, actitud mantenida hasta la actualidad y que los estibadores denuncian.
Es por ello que, tras subrayar la hipocresía que se esconde tras los gobiernos y organismos internacionales, los estibadores han decidido “en seno asambleario, no permitir en nuestro puerto la actividad a buques que contengan material bélico con el único propósito de proteger a cualquier población civil sea del territorio que sea”.
Se trata de un nuevo ejemplo de solidaridad de los estibadores como ya lo hicieron en 2011. En aquel momento, de la mano de otras organizaciones y ONG, llevaron adelante un boicot para entorpecer el envío de material bélico a Libia mientras se facilitaba el envío de agua y alimentos.
Así, los estibadores de Barcelona se unen a otros grupos de trabajadores y trabajadoras portuarios, como los belgas, quienes también han declarado su negativa a permitir el transporte de equipamiento militar hacia Israel o Palestina.
