2.4 million Palestinians are imprisoned in the tiny Gaza area in ‘Israel’, for 17 7ears under a strict blockade. Hamas is strictly Islamic but so what? They WON an election, were at first financed by Israel, and have wide support. Yes, the suicidal October 7th breakout caused deaths, on both sides. Yes, Hamas took hostages, but don’t forget Israel has OVER 5000 Palestinian captives held without trial. If Israel wants to control Palestinians it needs to give them citizenship for a start, stop massacring them, and pay for their survival aid and reconstruction. Anything less is Partition and inhuman Fascism.

The UN urges continued funding to UNRWA’s ‘lifesaving’ aid in Gaza, after Western countries cut aid to the agency.

The United States, which said 12 agency employees were under investigation, immediately suspended funding, followed by several other countries, including Britain, Germany, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland and Italy.

The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), considered a lifeline for two million people in the besieged enclave, has suffered funding cuts after several of its staff were accused by Israel of involvement in the October 7 Hamas attack.

The UN on Saturday said that it had terminated nine out of 12 staff over the allegations and vowed to hold its employees accountable, but expressed its shock at the swift funding cut by several Western countries amid a humanitarian disaster in Gaza, which has been devastated by nearly four months of Israel’s aerial and ground war.

Iran slams UNRWA fund freezing under pretext of Israel’s allegations

Iran’s foreign ministry has said the accusations against a number of UNRWA employees are aimed only at “justifying the restrictive measures of the Zionist regime against humanitarian organisations”.“These countries should have stopped helping the Zionist regime with weapons and political support instead of suspending their aid to UNRWA,” he added.

Children in Gaza have paid the highest price in this crisis: Save the Children

The head of humanitarian policy and advocacy at Save the Children, Alexandra Saieh, says Israel’s war on Gaza is killing children at “rates unparalleled in recent crises”.

Saieh told Al Jazeera that that Israel’s bombardment of the besieged enclave has also left many children critically injured and facing lifelong disabilities.

The war, she added, was leaving children in Gaza “starved and robbed of any sense of safety and security”.

After examining the mental health impacts on children for many years, Save the Children found that Palestinian children in Gaza face heightened levels of emotional distress every year, Saieh added.

In a study they conducted in 2022, Save the Children found that three out of five children in Gaza had feelings and thoughts of self-harm. The majority experienced depression, nightmares and had no hope for the future, so the past four months will make that infinitely worse.

Jordan calls on countries to reinstate funds for UNRWA

Ayman Safadi, the kingdom’s foreign minister and deputy prime minister, has said that the potential participation of 12 staff from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the October 7 attacks does not justify measures to starve an entire nation.

“UNRWA is the lifeline for over 2 million Palestinians facing starvation in Gaza,” he said in a post on X.

The UN’s human rights office warns about the impact of continued Israeli bombardment and worsening weather on civilians in Gaza.

Relentless Israeli attacks against infrastructure in Gaza and cold weather are making the Palestinian enclave “completely uninhabitable”, the United Nations human rights office (OHCHR) has warned.

“I fear that many more civilians will die,” Ajith Sunghay, the head of the OHCHR for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, said on Friday.
