No cash for still leaking Chernobyl-Falta dinero para tumba de Chernobyl

Clowning the police State.

“My life is controlled by the robber state and corporations, who seem all powerful and impossible to defeat.

But in reality all their power is fragile.. because we are MILLIONS.

Every time we subvert their authority, even by clowning about, we bring closer that moment they fear most..

..that moment when we all wake up..

……when the forces of repression are just  tossed aside, as happened partly in Egypt… and a new world can begin…”

Syria: ‘Thousands occupy Homs after funerals’

Thousands of anti-government protesters have occupied the centre of Syria’s third largest city, Homs, according to opposition activists.

Video footage uploaded onto the internet appears to show people sitting on the ground in the main square.

Earlier, funerals were held for some of those killed in Sunday’s violence in the city, with crowds calling for the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad.

Syria’s interior ministry has said the unrest amounts to armed insurrection.

an armed insurrection by armed groups belonging to Salafist organisations, especially in the cities of Homs and Banias”

BAHRAIN: U.S. Quiet over Repression

More than two dozen people have been killed by security forces since the government declared martial law Mar. 15…At the White House, however, silence has prevailed, suggesting to many observers that Obama is effectively acquiescing in, if not condoning, what is taking place… More than 400 others have been arrested or are otherwise unaccounted for, according to international rights groups. Three detainees have died in custody, at least one apparently from “horrific abuse”, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said Tuesday.   Continued

Reykjavik. A Reykjavik court on Thursday sentenced a former high ranking official at Iceland’s finance ministry to two years in prison for selling stock in the Landsbanki bank just before its 2008 collapse, AFP reported.

Baldur Gudlaugsson “took advantage of his position as a staff member of public office” by selling all of his shares in Landsbanki on September 17 and 18 2008, the Reykjavik district court said in its ruling.

Trees on Shaky Ground in Texaco’s Rainforest

By Gonzalo Ortiz*

NUEVA LOJA, Ecuador, Mar 29, 2011 (Tierramérica) – When the trunks of the trees move with every step you take, you know you are in a swamp. This is what happens when you walk over the seemingly firm and vegetation-covered ground over what was once a pit used to dump oil sludge in the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest.

The extent and impact of oil contamination on the environment and human health in northeastern Ecuador are much worse than anyone could imagine, as Tierramérica discovered during an extensive tour of the area.
