Drown in a Downpour of LIES.. War against All Puerto Ricans

Orwell in Puerto Rico

Welcome to Puerto Rico: where everyone is a sucker, and the US government treats every man and woman – regardless of age and education – like a five-year old idiot.

The lies from El Norte pour down every day.

A whopper will come from the Federal Reserve Bank on August 8.

A HISTORY OF LIES

  • In 1898, Gen. Nelson Miles announced that the US would “protect your property, promote your prosperity, and bestow the blessings of enlightened civilization.”

Then within a few years, the US owned 80% of Puerto Rico’s farm land…plus all its banks, railroads, public utilities, steamship lines, and the San Juan international seaport.e5e09-macheteros2bno2bterroristas1

  • In March 1917, Puerto Ricans were declared “US citizens.”

Then one month later, 18,000 Puerto Ricans were drafted into World War I.

From 1917 until 1976, Puerto Ricans were denied the federal minimum wage.

In 1948, the Ley de la Mordaza eliminated the first amendment.

From 1936 to 1992, over 100,000 “U.S. citizens” had secret FBI files opened on them.

To this very day, Puerto Ricans “citizens” cannot vote for congressmen, senators, or the president of the US.

Radical Cities and Social Revolution: An Interview with Janet Biehl

Activist and prolific writer Janet Biehl has famously taken up the theory and practice of Municipal Anarchism, as theorized by her companion Murray Bookchin in his lifetime. Recently the ideas have been taken up by the Kurdish leader Ocalan and enthusiastically implemented in the Rojava Revolution and Nth Kurdistan. biehl

Radical Cities and Social Revolution:
An Interview with Janet Biehl

The abstractness and programmatic emptiness so characteristic of contemporary radical theory indicates a severe crisis in the left. It suggests a retreat from the belief that the ideal of a cooperative, egalitarian society can be made concrete and thus realized in actual social relationships. It is as though – in a period of change and demobilization – many radicals have ceded the right and the capacity to transform society to CEO’s and heads of state.

Janet Biehl’s new book, The Politics of Social Ecology: Libertarian Municipalism, is an affront to this. It challenges the politically resigned with a detailed, historically situated anti-statist and anti-capitalist politics for today.

I asked Biehl about her new work in the fall of 1997 by email. ~ Chuck Morse

Your book is essentially programmatic: you set libertarian municipalism in a historical context and offer concrete suggestions for practice. What political circumstances made it seem especially important to produce this book now?facebook_event_173832189658154

As the political dimension of social ecology – the body of ideas developed by Murray Bookchin since the 1950s – libertarian municipalism is a libertarian politics of political and social revolution. It constitutes both a theory and a practice for building a revolutionary movement whose ultimate aim is to achieve an equal, just, and free society. My book is intended as a simple articulation of these ideas, which Bookchin himself has expounded elsewhere Continue reading “Radical Cities and Social Revolution: An Interview with Janet Biehl”

Union Occupiers take huge Somonte Estate for 3rd Time

by   Darío Unai, Somonte (Córdoba)
The Andalusian Workers Union /SAT) has occupied the  huge Somonte Estate for the third time dsc_0579
Somonte is a farm of 400 hectares located south of Córdoba in where summer temperatures reach 50C. It houses a handful of labourers, a pen of chickens and several million “wingback” mosquitoes  infesting the few areas of shade.

Among the dry fields that extend beyond the horizon, the only landmark is the tower of the ultraq modern Abengoa photovoltaic plant  projecting in all directions the sunlight of hundreds of reflective  panels concentrated on its tip.

It is not the most advisable place  to rest up after a hunger strike of 37 days mixed with more than 70 demonstrations for thr  freedom of ANDRÉS BÓDALO and the electoral campaign that led to Diego Cañamero’s election to Congress. Spain: The ‘Podemos Plan’ CAN upset EU Austerity Agenda

pablo-iglesias-victoria-20-d-26487There will be no revolution if the ‘far left’ Podemos can put a government together after the election. They have sold out on their already watery principles, on NATO, on the Monarchy.. etc to get power.

Plus it’s written into the Constitution that most of the budget must go to paying back the mega loans granted to keep the banks afloat.

Rising from the 15M movement, Podemos is still organised in hundreds of circles, assemblies and anti hierarchical structures
Rising from the 15M movement, Podemos is still organised in hundreds of circles, assemblies and anti hierarchical structures

But there is room for raising cash to reverse austerity, from forcing the EU to delay defecit goals, from proposed cuts to the army, bureaucracy and police, from solidarity taxes on the rich and banks, from a crackdown on corruption and from increased revenue from the ‘recovery’, etc.

The ‘Podemos Plan’ , for all its faults, (see below) reverses austerity and could bring back hope to Europe.

Spain: Can left’s economic plan reverse austerity?

United We Can.

United We Can — the united ticket made up of Podemos, the United Left, the green party Equo and three broader alliances in Catalonia, Galicia and the Valencian Country — is campaigning in the June 26 Spanish general elections on a plan to reverse economic austerity.

Is the new alliance’s plan up to the huge job? What chances of success can it have against the opposition of the Spanish and European powers-that-be? Indeed, is a capitalist Spain (and Europe) without austerity even conceivable in a world of intensifying international economic rivalry?
