Ever since July 29, Britain has been plunged into crisis, with incendiary far-riot rights sending towns and cities across the country spiraling into states of emergency. Vast mobs of armed, angry thugs, motivated by racist, Islamophobic animus, have vandalized homes, property and places of worship, violently clashed with police, and targeted hotels housing refugees with arson attacks in apparent stabs at mass murder. Hundreds of arrests have been made, and counter-protesters have taken to the streets in profusion to counter the upsurge of hatred

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has pledged those responsible will face the “full force of the law” for their actions, and several perpetrators have already been sentenced to years in prison. Still, the situation remains gravely tense. Furthermore, in keeping with so many prior explosive, unanticipated episodes in modern British history, a vicious mainstream blame game has erupted, with ultimate responsibility for the upheaval being apportioned to a wide range of domestic and foreign actors and causes.

The unrest’s actual, and perhaps most apparent, sources have been mysteriously overlooked. For one, average Britons remain gripped by an ever-worsening economic cataclysm, in which the cost of essentials ever rises while living standards precipitously decline. The newly-elected Labour government has not only practically pledged to do nothing to alleviate the misery – by maintaining if not intensifying self-destructive austerity policies – but already exacerbated the dire situation significantly by slashing winter fuel payments, leaving millions facing life-threateningly freezing cold, without state support.

History shows that this milieu is invariably a fertile breeding ground for fascism to take root. With no mainstream alternative to the neoliberal status quo, desperate, disillusioned and dispossessed working-class Britons look to “outsiders” and extremists like Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson for salvation in ever-greater numbers. And their remedy, as always, is to blame migrants, refugees and “the other” for all of society’s ills and their own personal deprivation rather than ruling elites.

At trial, the five weren’t allowed to defend their actions in context of the climate emergency. When they spoke the whole truth to the jury, 4 of the 5 were arrested multiple times in court and jailed. The jury entered guilty verdicts against all defendants after Judge Hehir removed all their legal defences, ruling that the climate crisis was ‘irrelevant’ to the trial.

The judge has been known to acquit people with excess money and corporations and also cops who rape vulnerable women.

The Gaza Government Media Office holds both “Israel” and the US administration responsible, pointing out that the Israeli occupation army launched a deliberate attack on the school

After “Israel” committed a horrendous massacre during the early hours of Saturday, nothing remained of the scene but bloodied body bags and devastation.

At least 100 Palestinians were killed in the Al-Tabieen school in Gaza City, and dozens more were injured.

As Palestinians were performing the morning prayers, Israeli warplanes struck the mosque with three airstrikes, leaving behind a hellish scene of unrecognized bodies and mass destruction.

Al-Tabieen comprises a religious school and mosque in Gaza City.

The Government Media Office in Gaza stated that “due to the enormity of the massacre and the rising number of victims, medical and civil defense teams have not yet been able to retrieve all the bodies.”

AFP reported body parts being strewn around the ruins and charred, bloodied bodies slumped in the wreckage of the two-story complex.

The Media Office held both “Israel” and the US administration responsible, pointing out that the Israeli occupation army launched a deliberate attack on the school, where many displaced individuals who had sought refuge were performing morning prayers, which led to a massive number of martyrs.

More than 300 people were present at the time of the Israeli bombing, the Office added.

It condemned this “horrific massacre in the strongest terms and [called] on the entire world to condemn it.” It also demanded that the international community and international organizations put pressure on the occupation to stop the genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

According to an AFP assessment, at least 14 schools housing Gaza’s displaced have been targeted since July 6, killing over 280 people.

Abu Wassim, a neighboring resident who arrived to investigate the situation, expressed that “peaceful people — women, children, and youths — were performing the Fajr prayer as usual when suddenly a missile hit them.”

At least two hundred fascists faced us tonight, and I would estimate three hundred antifascists were present.

The Stand Up Against Racism counter-demo began at 6pm, and there was already a notable fash presence, despite their own demo (riot) not being due to start until 7pm.

The police presence was light, and a group of 30 or so anarchists patrolled the outskirts of the counter-demo, and were needed to forcibly remove a number of fash that attempted to infiltrate the counter demo to attack/heckle speakers.

As the clock ticked towards 7, more and more police vehicles began to surround us, but worryingly, we seemed to have small groups of fash on all sides of us, just standing around, seemingly unnoticed by the police.

Just before 7, it became apparent there was a very large fascist presence moving south towards us on Armada way. They were stopped by a line of police, and chanting began from both sides. As far as I could tell, they were completely drowned out by our side.

Towards 8pm, the lead fash elements began to try and break clear of the police, making their way along Royal Parade, the small black bloc group followed them – and found ourselves directly face to face with punches being thrown for a few moments, until the police managed to get back in between us again.

A stand off then ensued on the corner of Whimple Street, and before long we found ourselves under a barrage of beer cans, bottles, and rocks the size of my hand.

Some time later, the fash moved to the opposite end of Armada Way, towards the Theatre Royal, attempting to get around the police to get at us again. We continued to shadow them, and again had to meet them head on before the police could separate us.

A giant anarchist continually put himself in the firing line in front of the counter-protest, leading hand to hand fighting whenever the fascists broke through the police – he took punches from multiple people and carried on battling despite blood dripping from his nose.

The fash then began chucking more rocks and flares at us, but continued to be drowned out by our chanting.

At around 9pm, the stewards decided to call an end to the counter protest, leaving those of us that remained heavily outnumbered and under a barrage of missiles, and probably in danger of being overwhelmed without the police presence.

Multiple people surrounding me took blows from rocks and coins thrown from the north side of Royal Parade, and hilariously, the fash brought out some fireworks – and hit themselves with them far more than they hit us.

Towards 10pm, the police forced the fash back up Armada Way, putting them out of projectile range. By half 10, we couldn’t see them, and the remaining anti-fascist group began to thin out.

We held the square throughout, and the anarchist contingent was at the front ready to face them for the duration.
