Santorum: Gays already have enough rights
Likely Republican presidential candidate and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum told Fox News’ Chris Wallace Sunday that LGBT people don’t deserve equal rights.
“You opposed gay marriage,” Wallace noted.
“I did,” Santorum agreed.
“You oppose civil unions, you want to reinstate ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’

PERU: Guardians of the Dry Forest –
PICOTA, Peru, Apr 23, 2011 (Tierramérica) –
Half-shouting over the roar of the old truck we are riding in, Peruvian farmer Pablo Escudero points to a green wall that rises up in the distance and says, “That’s our ‘rain caller’, the place we have fought so hard to create, which will be our legacy to our children.”
A short distance later, a sign on the road reads: “Ojos de Agua Forest of the Future”.

Mayor Wants Homeless Out of Sight
MADRID, Apr 20, 2011 (IPS) – The mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, has called for a law for compulsory removals of homeless people off the streets, but this has met with resistance from civil society organisations and has split Ruiz-Gallardo’s own People’s Party (PP).
Ruiz-Gallardón wants the centre-right PP, the main opposition party in Spain, to include in its platform for next year’s general elections a bill to authorise the expulsion of homeless people sleeping in public spaces in the country’s big cities, against their will if necessary.

Facerias: Urban Guerrilla Warfare

Facerias: Urban Guerrilla Warfare (1939-1957) by Antonio Téllez Solà (book sponsorship sought)
Anarchist urban guerrilla and member of the Iberian Federation of Libertarian Youth (FIJL) since 1936, José Lluis Facerías fought on the Aragón front during the Spanish Civil War, where he was taken prisoner and held until 1945. Following his release he rejoined the clandestine anarcho-syndicalist trade union, the CNT, and dedicated himself to the armed struggle against the Francoist dictatorship. From March 1946 until his death in a police ambush in 1957, Facerias was the driving force behind the anarchist defence groups operating in Barcelona. To get this book out are hoping for sponsorship of £2,300 ($3,750/2,630 Euro) towards the publication costs. So far (April 19 2011) we have $40.00 (£24.00/28.00 Euro) in the bank… not much, but it’s better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick… http://www.christiebooks.com/ChristieBooksWP/?p=3611

tortureBurgers…No Mercy
YouTube – No Mercy – Calf Farm Cruelty Exposed.
A new Mercy For Animals undercover investigation provides a horrifying look into E6 Cattle Co. in Hart, Texas.
E6 Cattle rears calves for use on dairy farms, confining approximately 10,000 calves and subjecting them to lives of prolonged neglect and misery. For over two weeks in March of 2011, an MFA undercover investigator documented the operation’s deplorable conditions and brutal mistreatment of animals.
MFA’s hidden camera reveals:
- Workers bludgeoning calves in their skulls with pickaxes and hammers – often involving 5 to 6 blows, sometimes more – before rendering the animals unconscious
- Beaten calves, still alive and conscious, thrown onto dead piles
- Workers kicking downed calves in the head, and standing on their necks and ribs
- Calves confined to squalid hutches, thick with manure and urine buildup, and barely large enough for the calves to turn around or fully extend their legs
- Gruesome injuries and afflictions, including open sores, swollen joints and severed hooves
- Ill, injured and dying calves denied medical care
- The budding horns of calves burned out their skulls without painkillers
