The Prosecutor’s Office admits a collective complaint of 56 possible cases of ‘stolen children’

Good news for women who denounce the abduction of their newborns in past decades of democracy and during the dictatorship. The State Attorney General’s Office admits to processing the collective complaint of 56 families, included in half a dozen associations.

It is the first time that a collective complaint has been filed for cases of ‘stolen children’ with a gender perspective. A new approach that, for now, seems to be working. The complainants understand that the crime was perpetrated against women, both single and married, at the time of delivery.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office undertakes to investigate these cases one by one in order to respond to the mothers and families who suspect that they were victims of an abduction of their babies between 1952 and 1987.

Support prisoners and Stop torture in Zuera Jail in Spain! Prison Hunger Strike rotates:

The rotating hunger strike is continuing, now running from January 11-20. The strike is against everything that kills us, more or less slowly, the people who are in prison, beginning with torture and ill treatment.

Juan Manuel Duró Sánchez, a prisoner in the isolation of the Villena prison, has sent a letter in which he relates ill treatment to a couple of his comrades, published in the blog of the Grup de Suport a Presxs, Lleida. We know from other colleagues that in the First Degree of that prison of Villena (Alicante II) reigns the violence of the jailers and that, of course, is not the only place.

Below, we insert part of David Rojas’ story published in the blog of HENAS’ comrades about the harsh conditions in Zuera prison, where violence by the guards against the prisoners, medical abandonment and the systematic cruelty of the punishment regime are also on the agenda, in addition to the deprivation of communications with the excuse that family members can spread the coronavirus to the prisoners, while people enter from the street without any warning and no real preventive measures are taken.

So-called USA. We have received the following call to action from a network of anti-border activists. In the wake of Trump supporters’ invasion of the Capitol building, opponents of authoritarianism must maintain momentum against all the oppressive policies that the Biden administration aims to preserve—keeping the focus on social change, rather than simply shoring up the status quo against fascists.

January 20 has a long history as a day of resistance to tyranny; this year, it makes sense to focus on the institutions of oppression that are spread around the country, rather than the ones concentrated in the nation’s capital.
