Más de una decena de colectivos llaman a salir a la calle con “una gran movilización” en decenas de ciudades y poblaciones de todo el Estado contra las propuestas del Pacto de Toledo y el “desarrollo que de las mismas pretende hacer el ministro de Seguridad Social, José Luis Escrivá”.

Colectivos de pensionistas de todo el Estado “ante la agresión que las recientes recomendaciones del Pacto de Toledo y la política de Escrivá suponen para el sistema público de pensiones” reiteran su “rechazo frontal a la sustitución complementaria del sistema público, por medio de los planes privados de empresa, vía convenios, con soporte de dinero público y apoyo gubernamental y a costa de los ingresos de la Seguridad Social” debilitando con ello “seriamente la caja única de las pensiones”.

The following is a conversation with ShineWhite. ShineWhite is the former spokesperson for the National White Panther Organization, a part of the United Panther Movement. There was quite recently a split in the UPM and ShineWhite is now affiliated with the Revolutionary Intercommunal Black Panther Party.

In this conversation, ShineWhite talks about the White Panther Organization that he was representing at the time of this chat, how he became politicized in North Carolina Prisons, the terrible conditions amidst the covid pandemic and beyond, anti-racist and anti-capitalist organizing in the NCDPS system, the use of the Security Threat Group status in NC prisons and reprisals he’s faced for his call out in 2018 for NC prisoners to participate in a Prison Strike which dovetailed well with the Nationwide Prison Strike of that year as well as other organizing.

The Witches’ Web

There is, of course, no more effective means to suppress free debate than mounting a witch-hunt against stubborn, resilient, subaltern counterpublics and their members. It is “no accident,” writes feminist philosopher Marilyn Frye, “that with various degrees of conscious intention, feminists have tried to create separate spaces where women could exist somewhat sheltered from the prevailing winds of patriarchal culture and try to stand up straight for once.”

Feminism happens when women stand up straight, and when they talk to each other. But free speech is becoming increasingly inaccessible for gender critical and radical feminists, particularly online. Facing social media bans, deplatforming, and censorship, many gender critical women have sought shelter in niche, women-centred communities, like Lipstick Alley, a Black women’s forum; British parenting site, Mumsnet; and Ovarit, a new forum founded in June by former moderators of the r/GenderCritical community on Reddit.

Shocked at Reddit’s sudden removal of r/GenderCritical and other feminist communities, I volunteered to join the admin team for Ovarit, having moderated the r/GenderCritical subreddit for over a year. I was motivated not just by the injustice of the ban, but because I know how pivotal women-centered spaces are to feminism.

These spaces are the cauldrons of feminist consciousness and the covens of feminist activism, allowing women to find common cause and organize in defense of their rights. But where there are cauldrons, covens, and witches, there are witch-hunts.

Avian Flu Pandemic: Mutations in Factory Farms could kill Millions of Humans

Only around 800 people globally have contracted H5N1 since 2003, but around 60 percent of them died from the disease … .the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that a global avian flu pandemic could kill 150 million people.

As the world continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic, a parallel scenario is unfolding in the avian world. Outbreaks of avian flu have been detected on poultry farms from the UK to Japan, resulting in millions of birds being culled globally.

In the UK, all captive birds have been forced into their own lockdown since mid-December, with keepers of flocks big and small ordered to keep their birds indoors for the foreseeable future.

Since November, multiple strains of the avian flu including the highly pathogenic H5N1, one of the most common strains, have been found on farms in Japan, South Korea, India, Russia, Israel, and several European countries. Highly pathogenic strains can cause severe illness in birds with symptoms including swelling of the head and difficulty breathing, though some birds such as ducks can be asymptomatic.
