Feminism is alive and well, my friends. And I’ve got 95 photos from across the planet to prove it.
(Click on the photos to find the source articles about the protests and movements pictured!)
Including an image of a protest or images from a specific region doesn’t indicate any sort of endorsement of that region or movement’s politics — this is just about showcasing that the fight for women’s rights and gender equality is raging on around the world.

3PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTELove all those pics. This is undisputable proof that women all over the world are united over similar issues.
As a side note; yes, Turkey is on two continents. The first picture is from a demonstration in which I actually participated. And the second one is from a get together with CYDD, an NGO that aims to provide education for underprivilaged girls. Both pictures were actually taken in the European part of the country, despite the fact that 85% of our country is situated in Asia.

2PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEThe day is young and yet I’ve already cried three times. This is a genuinely inspiring thing/I have a lot of feelings about it – thanks a bunch!

1PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEIsn’t it fascinating/so telling/awful how many signs are in English in countries where English isn’t the (primary) national language/historic national language…
Still, so many of these are so wonderful.

1PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEWell, I’ve just learned there are some brazilians who prefer to protest holding signs in spanish. How weird is that?!
-
0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEI really loved this – thank you for posting. And thanks s well to Creatrix above for the South East Asia stuff, that Cambodia especially photo is so great.
My one quibble is the FEMEN one from Ukraine. I know they’re feminists, but… it’s also a pic of a woman who’s young, thin, white, tanned, blond, fairly heavily made up and naked but for red undies and platform peeptoes, and whose body is being used as a canvas for an unrelated political message. For me it undermined the effect of all the rest of this a little. On the other hand, I know nothing’s ever perfect, and many people would disagree with me on this.
And even with that – one of my favourite things I’ve seen in ages. Made me really grateful for my amazing sisters all around the world.

0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEWhy no photo of the kurdish women fighting for freedom against ISIS ? I think they deserve at least to be mentioned in the list…
-
0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEI love a lot of these photos, and agree with those calling for the photos of the female Kurdish soldiers fighting ISIS. Some of these are very old, though, and more than a little off-putting. Winnie Mandela’s photo is from 1997, and she’s been widely discredited for personal involvement in cases of kidnap, torture and murder of men, women and children in South Africa.
-
0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTE(I’ve commented in a reply above but just in case you guys haven’t seen it.) That picture with signs in Spanish is not from Brazil. In fact, most Brazilians get rather offended when people assume we speak Spanish (me included). I clicked the post very excited to see what you got for my country (happy to see Marcha das Vadias included!) but this was mostly very disappointing.

0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEWOMEN ARE AMAZING
-
0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEThese are women protesting. To label them all as feminists is extremely incorrect
-
0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEYou gorgoteo Argentina, where almost 1 million people took the streets two months ago agains femicide. It’s a really large movement, do your reaserch!
-
0PLEASE LOG IN TO VOTEThese are not “rebel girls”; these are Rebel Women. I would caution you not to diminish their causes by calling them girls in the title. The rebel girl has grown up. Thank you for compiling such a powerful Montage of photos.
