Over 5,000 Turkish police and army have descended on the remote, embattled town of Cizre in recent days, cutting off roads and doing a door-to-door operation against the community’s defiant street youth. Cizre is the first, the State threatens to ”send 5000 troops to each of 20 Kurdish cities”. Over 40 Kurdish deputies are on the March to Save Cizre, which began as a convoy but was blocked by police. As a response to the Turkish crackdown dozens of Kurdish towns have declared autonomy, following the anti authoritarian and anarchist feminist program of the long imprisoned leader Abdullah Öcalan. Turkey is a NATO country controlled and supplied by the US, which agreed to ignore the anti-Kurd war in exchange for use of the Incirlik airbase.

Pointing to the huge siege and attack on the town of Cizre Botan, one of the major centers of resistance in Kurdistan history, KCK stated that snipers positioned on high buildings are shooting civilians that go out, while Turkish forces bombed neighborhoods and streets with heavy weapons, which didn’t allow the locals to go our for a five minute even to meet their basic needs.

Acting upon police chief’s order to ‘sweep them away’, riot police attacked the HDP deputies with shields and helmets.

Some deputies including Osman Baydemir and Meral Danış Beştaş have been injured in the attack.

Police forces continue denying permission for the HDP officials who include 40 deputies, Co-President Selahattin Demirtaş, Co-Spokespersons of HDK (Peoples’ Democratic Congress), Co-Chairs of DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) and DTK (Democratic Society Congress).

“Attacks aim to make the people surrender by both killing them and depriving them of food and water. The majority of those killed and wounded is made up by women and children. The Turkish state is not committed to any moral or social values. It even disobeys its own laws and therefore blatantly perpetrates any kind of persecution and attack. The silence of the world also encourages and plays a role in the execution of these attacks.” …KCK
