Es normal que el asunto colegio les haya pillado en bragas a nuestras autoridades. No se podía saber que iba a empezar en septiembre. Estamos a 20 de agosto de una pandemia que no da tregua.

En teoría, en apenas tres semanas comienza el colegio. Pasaremos de una fase 2 en la que no te puedes juntar con más de diez personas -y la recomendación de que sean siempre las mismas- a que nuestras criaturas compartan aula con otras 25.

No sabemos de la aplicación de los protocolos en los distintos centros. No sabemos cómo abrirán los colegios o si llegarán a abrir. Es casi seguro que no habrá madrugadores ni extraescolares.

Algunos centros cambiarán su jornada partida a una continua. Desconocemos cómo será el tiempo escolar, lo que hace muy complicado planificar cómo compaginarlo con nuestros horarios laborales. Se habla de no compartir materiales. Quien lo dice desconoce cómo es el ciclo de infantil de un colegio público.

Habrá que utilizar espacios al aire libre, dicen las autoridades, que dejaron de ver colegios cuando todo el monte sería orégano. No sé qué patios se imaginan que tienen los centros públicos saturados con 4 y 6 vías y una biblioteca en un hueco del pasillo.

El principal protocolo de actuación de la administración era iniciar este curso con normalidad presencial. Ahora, a 20 de agosto, los responsables políticos ya empiezan a decir que esto no será del todo posible.

Lo peor es que se sabe desde marzo, y de entonces hasta ahora se ha dejado correr. Con la ingenuidad de creer que llegaríamos a septiembre con la pandemia bajo control y para qué íbamos a trabajar en balde en pensar modos seguros de abrir colegios.

Y aquí estamos, sin los recursos adecuados para que la normalidad rara sea estable durante el curso. Con el cuerpo escocido, sabiendo del potencial riesgo de ir al cole, contagiarnos y contagiar a nuestros familiares más vulnerables; pero pensando qué tipo de efecto puede tener en las criaturas no llevarlos – ¿Me multarán? ¿Me quitarán la plaza? ¿Les estaré convirtiendo en sociópatas al no relacionarse con otros niños desde marzo? –

Fernando Simón ha defendidoque los niños deben estar en grupos de no más de “15 o 20”; en comedores y patios será necesario fijar unas normas de comportamiento y “cumplirse” y, “si no se hace, los riesgos de infección serán los mismos que en marzo”.

Avisa de la necesidad de inversión, más allá de la compra de geles y mascarillas. En Madrid, el profesorado anuncia una huelga por la escasa seguridad en la vuelta al colegio. En este escenario nos encontramos.

Sé que es todo dificilísimo, la situación es cambiante y nadie nos había preparado para pandemias. Sé que no hay dinero y todo cuesta mucho. Pero estamos en agosto, y desde marzo no se ha querido planificar otro escenario que el de abrir los centros con normalidad. Y ahora, con la tozudez de los rebrotes aumentando la cifra de contagios, las Comunidades Autónomas se están poniendo nerviosas. Como lo estamos profesores y familias desde marzo.

Entonces, ¿qué?

No lo sé, pero pensar en volver a lo conocido no es una opción. En infantil, donde se habla de la importancia de la presencialidad, puede que cada profesor tenga que dividir su clase en tres grupos, que vayan un rato al día, o un día a la semana. Que se relacionen en grupos de 8, por no perder el contacto social. Y el

resto del tiempo trabajo online. Horarios reducidos, utilización del patio por turnos, reducir el alumnado que se queda a comer, implicación de los padres para hacer clase en la calle, paseos por los barrios, qué sé yo. Sabemos que, si se llegan a abrir los centros educativos, cerrarán en algún momento.

Y entonces, ¿qué? ¿Cuál es el plan educativo? ¿Cuál es plan familiar? ¿A qué tipo de permiso se pueden acoger las madres o padres para cuidar a sus hijos en cuarentena o en los cierres temporales de aulas?

¿Le vamos a decir a esa médica que dobla turno en el hospital, que deje su trabajo para cuidar a sus hijos porque el Estado no puede garantizar ni la educación ni el derecho al trabajo?

Todas las luchas del feminismo son urgentes, pero no sé cómo la ministra de Trabajo y la de Igualdad no están priorizando la creación de un permiso para el cuidado de hijos para que las madres/padres podamos hacer frente al curso escolar sin tener que dejar nuestros empleos.

Algo así como el permiso retribuido que se recibe por nacimiento/adopción. ¿Qué va a costar mucho? Claro, como los ERTES, las ayudas a diferentes sectores o la investigación para tratar enfermedades. Cerrar colegios e irnos al paro saldría mucho más caro. No invertir en educación ni en conciliación no sólo es un error, no es socialmente asumible.

Pero, venga, que en tres semanas todavía pueden bajar los datos de contagio y así seguimos evitando hablar de aumentar la inversión a la educación pública y de una verdadera política social que favorezca no tener que elegir entre trabajar y criar.

In theory, school starts in just three weeks. We will go from phase 2 in which you cannot get together with more than ten people – and the recommendation that they always be the same – to that our creatures share a classroom with 25 others. We do not know about the application of the protocols in the different centers . We do not know how the schools will open or if they will ever open. There will almost certainly be no early risers or extracurriculars.

Some centers will change their split day to a continuous one. We do not know what school time will be like, which makes it very difficult to plan how to combine it with our work schedules. There is talk of not sharing materials. Who says it does not know what the infantile cycle of a public school is like. We will have to use outdoor spaces, say the authorities, who stopped seeing schools when the whole mountain would be oregano. I do not know what courtyards you imagine that public centers have saturated with 4 and 6 tracks and a library in a hole in the corridor.

So what?

I don’t know, but thinking about going back to the known is not an option. In children, where the importance of being present is discussed, each teacher may have to divide their class into three groups, who go for a while a day, or one day a week. That they interact in groups of 8, not to lose social contact. And the rest of the time I work online.

Reduced hours, use of the playground in shifts, reduce the number of students who stay to eat, involvement of parents to do classes in the street, walks through the neighborhoods, what do I know. We know that if educational centers open, they will close at some point.

And so, than? What is the educational plan? What is a family plan? What type of permission can mothers or fathers take to take care of their children in quarantine or in the temporary closures of classrooms? Are we going to tell that doctor who doubles shift at the hospital, to leave her job to take care of her children because the State cannot guarantee either education or the right to work?

All the feminist struggles are urgent, but I don’t know how the Minister of Labor and the Minister of Equality are not prioritizing the creation of a permission for the care of children so that mothers / fathers can face the school year without having to leave our jobs.

Something like the paid leave that is received by birth / adoption. What is going to cost a lot? Of course, like ERTES, aid to different sectors or research to treat diseases. Closing schools and going on strike would be much more expensive. Not investing in education or work-life balance is not only a mistake, it is not socially acceptable.

But come on, in three weeks the contagion data can still drop and thus we continue to avoid talking about increasing investment in public education and a true social policy that favors not having to choose between working and raising children.
