At three-thirty on Thursday morning it looked like the eviction from the Buenos Aires House was more real than ever. About twenty vans of the Mobile Brigade (BRIMO) of the Mossos d’Esquadra have been deployed in Mont d’Orsa Street, accompanied by an intendant, two inspectors and commanders of the police station of the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district.
After approaching the entrance of the building, where there were about fifty people who joined the two hundred that were scattered throughout the house, the superiors of the Catalan police have not seen clearly and they have ordered the momentary withdrawal while in parallel people were also beginning to gather in Plaça de Vallvidrera.
Subsequently, in the face of this situation, the agents withdrew and completely removed the Vallvidrera police device. Activists have removed the barricades around the house and an assembly has been held pending official information on the status of the eviction attempt.
Finally, at half past nine in the morning, the official confirmation of the police suspension of the eviction has arrived, although the judicial threat is still in force and the Mossos d’Esquadra could try again soon.
The alarms went off last Monday, September 28, when the group received a notification from the court number 8 of Barcelona informing of the reactivation of eviction -with open date- at the request of the congregation of the Fathers Paul, owner of the property. This is not the first time that religious people have tried to evict people: on March 6, the expulsion of the occupants of the house was stopped in extremis and the negotiation process between Barcelona City Council and the property it was temporary suspension of eviction.

A tres quarts de sis del matí de dijous semblava que el desallotjament de la Casa Buenos Aires era més real que mai. Una vintena de furgonetes de la Brigada Mòbil (BRIMO) dels Mossos d’Esquadra s’han desplegat al carrer Mont d’Orsa, acompanyats d’un intendent, dos inspectors i comandaments de la comissaria del districte de Sarrià-Sant Gervasi.
Després d’apropar-se fins a l’entrada de l’immoble, on hi havia una cinquantena de persones que se sumaven a les dues-centes que hi havia repartides per tota la casa, els superiors de la policia catalana no han vist clar i han ordenat la retirada momentània mentre en paral·lel també es començava a concentrar gent a la plaça de Vallvidrera.

Posteriorment, davant d’aquesta situació, els agents s’han replegat i han retirat totalment el dispositiu policial de Vallvidrera. Les activistes han retirat les barricades que hi havia al voltant de la casa i s’ha fet una assemblea a l’espera de tenir informació oficial sobre l’estat de l’intent de desallotjament. Finalment, a dos quarts de nou del matí, ha arribat la confirmació oficial de la suspensió policial del desallotjament, malgrat que l’amenaça judicial segueix vigent i els Mossos d’Esquadra podrien tornar a intentar-ho aviat.
Les alarmes van saltar el passat dilluns 28 de setembre, quan el col·lectiu va rebre una notificació del jutjat número 8 de Barcelona on s’informava de la reactivació de desallotjament -amb data oberta- a petició de la congregació dels Pares Paüls, propietària de l’immoble.
No és el primer cop que els religiosos intenten el desallotjament: el passat 6 de març s’aturava in extremis l’expulsió de les okupants de la casa i s’iniciava el procés de negociació entre l’Ajuntament barceloní i la propietat que posava en suspens provisional el desallotjament.

La Directa ha intentat contactar amb la segona tinent d’alcaldia i responsable de patrimoni de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona, Janet Sanz, per conèixer la seva opinió respecte al nou intent de desallotjament, però des dels serveis de premsa es remet a la declaració que aquesta va fer el passat 30 de setembre en la roda de premsa de presentació del nou districte 22@.
“No té sentit que s’executi cap desallotjament, perquè no hi ha cap justificació ni necessitat amb la predisposició mostrada pel consistori”, assegurava aleshores la regidora –en referència a la negociació entre el consistori i la propietat– i demanava als Pares Paüls que “es manifestin per poder treballar conjuntament fins a l’aprovació final del MPGM”.
Per a Sanz, el que sí que tindria sentit és que “poguéssim parlar `[amb la propietat] de com utilitzem provisionalment aquest equipament i com comencem a dotar-lo dels usos que reclama el veïnat”, però que fins ara la congregació titular de la finca no ha respost ni col·laborat amb aquesta voluntat. I finalitzava remarcant que “aquesta ocupació expressa una necessitat, amb una funció social i comunitària que s’ha de mantenir”.
Agenda cultural contra el desnonament
Davant la incertesa que genera la data oberta del desallotjament, el grup que habita la casa va iniciar una setmana de programació cultural entre el 5 i el 9 d’octubre, amb concerts d’artistes com Queralt Lahoz, El Pony Pisador, Las Bajas Pasiones o Adala. Aquesta setmana, les activitats s’han realitzat des del passat dimecres 14, i esperen acabar el dissabte 17 amb un vermut-conversa amb el filòsof Cesar Rendueles.

El projecte situat al número 31 del carrer Mont d’Orsà va néixer el març del 2019, quan un grup de veïnes va fer pública l’ocupació de l’immoble per denunciar el procés d’”elitització del barri”, després de conèixer l’existència d’un projecte d’hotel de luxe publicat a la pàgina del despatx d’advocats ArquitActúa, i el van rebatejar com Casa Buenos Aires.
L’any 2017 un grup de veïnes van presentar una proposta de “cohabitatge sènior”, conjuntament amb la cooperativa Sostre Cívic, i van negociar amb els Paüls, als quals van arribar a oferir dos milions d’euros per l’immoble. L’oferta, però, va ser rebutjada per l’orde religiós.
