On Wednesday, the country reported 100,000 new cases of the coronavirus, marking the highest single-day case count since the start of the pandemic, according to data from the COVID Tracking Project. The US is currently reporting more cases of the coronavirus than any other country in the world. By comparison, India, which has a population…
Despite federal and state laws requiring oil and gas companies to clean up and properly cap abandoned wells, there is overwhelming evidence that this is not happening.
Amid a record wave of bankruptcies, the U.S. oil and gas industry is on the verge of defaulting on billions of dollars in environmental cleanup obligations.
Even the largest companies in the industry appear to have few plans to properly clean up and plug oil and gas wells after the wells stop producing — despite being legally required to do so. While the bankruptcy process could be an opportunity to hold accountable either these firms, or the firms acquiring the assets via bankruptcy, it instead has offered more opportunities for companies to walk away from cleanup responsibilities — while often rewarding the same executives who bankrupted them.
The results may be publicly funded cleanups of the millions of oil…
The two presidents drove out 10,000 Cuban doctors and nurses. They defunded the region’s leading health agency. They wrongly pushed hydroxychloroquine as a cure.

The coronavirus was gathering lethal speed when President Trump met his Brazilian counterpart, Jair Bolsonaro, on March 7 for dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Mr. Bolsonaro had canceled trips that week to Italy, Poland and Hungary, and Brazil’s health minister had urged him to stay away from Florida, too.
But Mr. Bolsonaro insisted, eager to burnish his image as the “Trump of the Tropics.” His grinning aides posed at the president’s resort in green “Make Brazil Great Again” hats. Mr. Trump declared he was “not concerned at all” before walking Mr. Bolsonaro around the club shaking hands.
Twenty-two peoplein Mr. Bolsonaro’s delegation tested positive for the virus after returning to Brazil, yet he was not…

“The new normal is a permanent explosion”
By Nancy Garin October 25, 2020
Her music and her lyrics are the soundtrack of the street, it is almost impossible to imagine a feminist march without listening to her theme Antipatriarca in the background. She knows how to combine anger and dance, political commitment with artistic research.
Ana Tijoux was born in Chile, she is the daughter of exile and last year, when the social explosion took over the country’s squares, she lived as a second exile, having left the mountain range for Europe.
However, she used foreigners as a platform, she did not stop composing songs that are sung in the street and she is already returning to his territory from where she speaks in this note about the revolt, the new normality, anti-colonialism and anti-racism, her new productions and, of course, feminism. This Saturday 24, in addition, she can be seen with Elsa Dorlin -French philosopher- in the second performance summit La Criatura-20.

Where do we go from here?
The peasants are getting fat, and they are breeding! Oh no.
What is “the Great Reset”?
The Great Reset is a massively funded, desperately ambitious, internationally coordinated project led by some of the biggest multinational corporations and financial players on the planet and carried out by cooperating state bodies and NGOs. Its soul is a combination of early 20th century science fiction, idyllic Soviet posters, the obsessiveness of a deranged accountant with a gambling addiction—and an upgraded, digital version of “Manifest Destiny.”
Society is no longer regarded as a living community but as a business, whose profitability is the sole valid aim of human activity.
The mathematical reason for the Great Reset is that thanks to technology, the planet has gotten small, and the infinite expansion economic model is bust—but obviously, the super wealthy want to continue staying super wealthy, and so they need a miracle, another bubble, plus a surgically precise system for managing what they perceive as “their limited resources.”
Thus, they desperately want a bubble providing new growth out of thin air—literally—while simultaneously they seek to tighten the peasants’ belts, an effort that starts with “behavioral modification,” a.k.a. resetting the western peasants’ sense of entitlement to high life standards and liberties (see awful “privilege”).
The psychological reason for the Great Reset is the fear of losing control of property, the planet. I suppose, if you own billions and move trillions, your perception of reality gets funky, and everything down below looks like an ant hill that exists for you. Just ants and numbers, your assets.
Many readers will remember how Republicans rigged the elections in Florida in 2000. A violent mob prevented volunteers from completing the recount in contested southern counties.
Is the fix in? Amy Coney Barrett worked with John Roberts and Brett Cavenaugh on Bush v Gore in 2000 when all were in private practice
As a result, the recount could not be completed in time to meet the deadline of December 20, 2000 for legally choosing the state’s Electoral College delegation. The Bush campaign sued and took the case, Bush v Gore, to the U.S. Supreme Court, which by an infamous 5-4 decision, handed the presidency to Bush.
Twenty years later, a Republican challenge ending up in the Supreme Court could happen again, only this time three sitting justices –Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Brett Cavanaugh, and now Justice Amy Coney Barrett –will be well primed. All three were involved (then, as private attorneys) in giving Bush legal advice on how to handle the case, Bush V. Gore, in 2000 .
How might another Florida recount get challenged this time?
By Republicans failing to retain the images of ballots cast, as required by federal law, through electronic scanning.
Ankara’s crackdown on Grup Yorum, a folk collective with rotating band members, is continuing to expand even after three of its members died as a result of hunger strikes protesting the Turkish government’s treatment of the band, Turkish Minute reported.
Ibrahim Gökçek of Grup Yorum at the funeral of Helin Bölek who died first for the right to sing her freedom songs. Ibrahim – himself on hunger strike, died shortly after.
Known for its leftist stance and songs about human rights violations and freedoms in Turkey, Grup Yorum has been banned from performing since 2016, with some of its members having been jailed. Turkish authorities have accused members of affiliation with the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C), considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
The latest police raid on the İdil Cultural Center, where Grup Yorum members have been conducting their activities, resulted in the detention of 93 people out of 120 for whom warrants had been issued, including the band’s lawyers and background singers in addition to its soloists and musicians, as part of an expanded crackdown in October.
