Gökkan’s requests for additional time and recusal have been rejected. While the lawyers and the relatives of Gökkan, who objected to the incident, were battered out, the police tried to detain Ayşe Gökkan’s niece Vedat Gökkan. They stopped after MPs and lawyers intervened. Meanwhile, Ayşe Gökkan’s elder sister Mihrican Gökkan passed out and was taken to a hospital.e “We are Kurds, we are women and we are here. The trial of Kurdish politician Ayşe Gökkan will continue today in Amed. A spokeswoman for the Free Women’s Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad, TJA) faces up to 35 years in prison for allegedly holding a leadership position in a clandestine organization.
The TJA calls for solidarity with Ayşe. “We are Kurds, we are women and we are here. We will tirelessly make our demands for freedom and equality heard, “said a statement from the Kurdish women’s movement.

Ayşe has been in prison since late January after an arrest warrant was issued for one of more than 200 trials against her (at least 167 are individual cases).
