The article about Louis Rosenberg’s techniques first points out the limitations of the Artificial Swarm Intelligence(ASI) method of seeking group wisdom due to Societal Bias (mandated mindset) and how groups of over 7 misfunction, for various reasons.

Louis and his collaborators at UNANIMOUS AI use new ChatGPT tech in a novel way, dividing large groups who are given a problem to consider into groups of 5, plus a special ChatGPT bot in each who summarizes the group’s thoughts every few minutes and passes the info to the next group.
It’s a technique which apparently multiplies group genius using ‘LLM-powered Observer Agents‘ . They call it Conversational Swarm Intelligence (CSI), and dress it up as a unique inspiration based on bio research in fish, bees and birds.. Rosenberg and colleagues don’t care about collective democracy but are busily monetizing a technique which can claim to be ‘human and better than ChatGPT’.

It also has obvious and practical adaptations and applications to the perennial problems of making collective decisions and agreements in ‘libertarian communist’ and generally in large open assembly run movements.
And indeed variations on CSI have clear applications to Direct Collective Democracy.
It’s easy and practical to imagine large groups of neighbours, activists, scientists or whatever using ChatGPT bots and connected Zoom groups to create CSI webs, reach consensus agreements and find real solutions to intractable problems.
The techniques show promise in avoiding dominance by authoritarian individuals, sabotage by enemy factions, impossibility of equal access in time, etc.
