Why I Am Anti-Capitalist: Escape The Rat Race Now

Anti-capitalist, not about being ‘lazy’ or ‘workshy’ or a ‘snowflake’,but about wanting more out of life than ‘give and take.’ We give them our time for money, running their production line, all the while they take the profit we made for them, claiming it as ‘mine.’ From their villa in Zanzibar, they pop open a bottle of champagne(for […]

Beyond COP28: Plan E and the Entangled Security Approach

With this year’s COP once again failing to meet expectations for rapid transition to a post-fossil fuel future, surely a more effective and urgent approach is required? Elizabeth Boulton argues for a Plan E that would harness global cooperation to see off humanity’s common ‘hyperthreat’ of planetary breakdown.

Anarchist Prisoner Eric King Released After Ten Years + 2 poems .. Eng/ Esp

from thefreeonline on 13th Dec From It’s Going Down via Anarchist News

Imprisoned for taking direct action in solidarity with the Ferguson uprising, Eric King survived everything from COVID, to attacks by neo-Nazi prisoners, and years of abuse from guards. In a statement from 2016, King stated:

I stand by my actions. After seeing what happened in Ferguson, so close down the road, I was disgusted by the lack of mobilization in my city. Three hours away people were fighting for their lives and we weren’t even taking to the streets. We were doing nothing. My act as a very personal display of my anger and rage toward the state as well as an act of solidarity to everyone in Ferguson. We never know our own strength until we are tested and even with my ridiculous sentence I feel at least proud to have been able to stand strong and refuse to cooperate with the state.

In 2022, Eric King was victorious in court against a frame-up attempt by guards, after they attacked him in a supply closet and attempted to slap him with an additional 20 years in prison.

Currently there is a fundraiser set-up for Eric to help him with his post release. Eric is also one of the co-editors of the new book, Rattling the Cages: Oral Histories of North American Political Prisoners, published by AK Press, sales of which benefits the Anarchist Black Cross warchest program and Eric King’s family.

No estábamos haciendo nada.

If words are as dangerous as bullets.. by Eric King….  English/Castellano

by Eric King

If words are as dangerous as bullets
and sharp as knives
Can we start filling the pages?
grinding our pencils to stubs
Turning ink into guillotines
prose the ropes onto their wrist
and rhyme these prison walls to paste
cause nothing else seems to be working
heads aren’t rolling, the streets are on holiday
maybe enough words can spark
a million fires in our hearts
which would create a million fires in the banks
a million convicts in the streets
Not giving a fuck about a voters box
Giving a fuck about having a life
our words can break these chains?
then gather our dictionaries
there aren’t enough thesauruses in the world
I need to fight more, I need to write more
My tongue has been shackled
I haven’t resisted, I haven’t insisted
More words, more battles, more victories
more poems, more struggle, more bumps
We’d be fighting with our minds
dismantling the system that strangles us
Then turning those words into life
A life more important than burning and bombing
Enough magic, love, growth and life
We can grow into a space worth existing in
Our words can get us free.

Who is Eric King?

Eric G. King, a 33-year-old vegan anarchist political prisoner and poet, was arrested and charged with an attempted firebombing of a congressperson’s office in Kansas City, Missouri, in September 2014. As part of his plea and sentencing, Eric publicly and proudly acknowledged that his intent was to take direct political action in solidarity with the community of Ferguson, Missouri, following the August 2014 police killing of Michael Brown Jr.

Eric was charged with throwing a hammer through a window of the building, followed by two lit Molotov cocktails. The criminal complaint states that both incendiary devices failed to ignite. Eric was identified as a suspect by local police because he had previously come under suspicion for anti-government and anti-police graffiti.

tal vez suficientes palabras puedan provocar
No he resistido, no he insistido
Suficiente magia, amor, crecimiento y vida.

«One of these days I’m gonna break these chains» a poem by Eric King

I wake up alone

in a box that ain’t my home

without the love I call my own

people who live  in glass houses

I envy them all

people who live in cages

must throw stones

tear the skin sticking to my bones

got a spoon to dig down straight

only digging the plot to my own grave

if my body can’t , then my mind will escape

my enemy wears authority instead of a face

I wake up alone

but we cannot break

freedom is on the phone

she holds me in one piece

I wake up with a hole

that she fills complete

battered & bruised but on my feet

one day I’ll awake

within a home that’s all our own

we will bury the past

start our own damn show

I wake up with a heart that is filled with gold

love so powerful it could explode.
