The arrests are related to the mobilization events on February 7, in which thousands of people protested in Catalonia against the genocide carried out by Israel in an massive Action and Strike Day part called by the anarcho syndicalist CGT Union.

Nine people have been arrested in different places in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area in an operation coordinated by the General Information Commissariat of the Mossos d’Esquadra, reports La Directa. The arrests are related to the acts carried out during the day of struggle called on February 7 in solidarity with the Palestinian people and against the genocide in Gaza.
Eight of the detainees are accused of crimes of public disorder, damage, illegal demonstration and criminal group, which can lead to prison sentences. At 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday the 19th, the Ègida collective confirmed a ninth arrest.
This anarchist collective defense group Ègida called a rally this afternoon in front of the Les Corts police station, where the detainees remain.

The actions of February 7, which included parades, demonstrations and temporary traffic cuts, were called with the motto “Estimate life, defend Palestine, preserve the world” and were not limited to Barcelona.
In Terrassa, Sant Quirze, Manresa, Mataró, Lleida or Cornella de Llobregat, hundreds of people joined the different mobilizations. More than 170 organizations called and participated. Two unions, CGT Catalunya and Intersindical en Catalunya, called partial strikes.
