Once again, the Turkish occupation state announces its racist and patriarchal mentality and its targeting of women by its withdrawal from the “Istanbul Convention,” so that the question remains unable to find an answer about which article of Turkish law will protect women in the country?
Women in Turkey suffer from gender discrimination between them and men in terms of employment and study in universities, and the violence they are subjected to without a law protecting them, not to mention the ban on the veil that was imposed on them years ago, which caused a women’s revolution in the country at the time.
32,389.44 million at least in 2020. Will it be 32,389.44 million at least * in 2021 *? Inside it also says: “Budgeted for 2020” Will it be “for 2021”?
There is little left for us to make the income statement. And well … another year more different people, antimilitarist groups and social movements, we want it to be clear to the state that we do not want to collaborate with our taxes or with the war, or with political repression, or with the control it exercises, above all, with the least powerful part of the population.
For this reason, at Tortuga we consider that it is important that you know to what extent the administration uses taxes to sustain these painful realities.
Of course, we cannot tell you what exact amount the Spanish state allocates (including its autonomies) to carry out these nefarious policies. It is not possible, since it hides, as well as it can, these shameful games. What we can offer you is a low estimate of these expenses:
And the result (32,389.44 million euros) multiplies almost by four the budget of the defense ministry. We can assure, therefore, that the Spanish state in 2020 allocated 686, 13 euros, at least, for each inhabitant to military spending and social control.
These amounts have changed little since 2018, as the state has been extending its budgets. The differences come from some autonomous communities, whose social control expenses are not always easily identifiable either.
Soon, making Tax Objection to Military Expenditure when we have to make the rent, we will be able to settle accounts.
There are some days when we no longer see the sky with so many enemies around us. The apocalypse seems more likely than the end of capitalism and we are surrounded by patriarchal attacks – inside and outside of us.
Sometimes I can no longer believe that we can make revolution – revolution what does that even mean? A different life? All this seems so far away, so abstract- really like a distant utopia.
And in all this leftist depression, Rojava is like a huge beacon of hope. Rojava, that is a revolution in the 21st century. This is a revolution that combines so many struggles, so many ideas – a society that organizes itself, a society without state, a society based on gender liberation and ecology. An anti-fascist revolution against colonialism, against imperialism.

A crucial population of one of the rarest primates on the planet is holding its own in the face of multiple threats, according to the latest surveys conducted in northern Vietnam.
Survey teams recorded at least 20 groups of western black crested gibbon—totaling an estimated 64-79 individuals—in its only known Vietnamese haven, providing further confirmation that the population has stabilized in the 18 years since Fauna & Flora International (FFI) and our partners first intervened to reverse its steep decline.
The fact that the population appears to be stable may not sound like big news, but in the context of the severe and ongoing threats to the survival of this—and other—primate species in Vietnam, it constitutes a major victory. In a world where one million species are reported to be close to the brink as a result of human pressures, every example that bucks the trend is a cause for celebration.
All 18 of the world’s gibbon species are threatened with extinction, due primarily to hunting and habitat loss. Many of the forest landscapes where FFI works in Vietnam support important populations of these small apes. In fact, the country harbors all but one of the seven species known collectively as crested gibbons.
JBS, a giant company implicated in multiple cases of large-scale forest clearing in Brazil, recently made a commitment to achieve zero deforestation across its global supply chain by 2035. Environmentalists argue this pledge is grossly insufficient.
In a new Soy and Cattle Deforestation Tracker, JBS scores just a single point out of 100. Its nearest competitors, Minerva and Marfrig, have scores of 46/100 and 40/100 respectively.
Tagging and tracking systems to ensure transparency along the entire beef supply have long been proposed, but JBS has resisted disclosing its full list of suppliers.
Under present conditions, Brazil is losing forest cover at the fastest rate in more than a decade, and this deforestation is driven largely by the meatpacking industry.
