Hospitals overflowing with sick and dying patients. Overworked staff risking their lives wearing garbage bags as makeshift protective equipment against an invisible but deadly virus. Refrigerated containers left outside medical facilities, filling with the dead. Mass graves being dug in the city. It is like something out of a horror movie. But it is very real and is happening right now in America. “We are doing the best we can,” Derrick Smith, a certified registered nurse anesthetist in New York City toldMintPress last week, “but people are dying left and right, no exaggeration.” “I’ve never imagined or seen our healthcare system take such a beating before,” he said. “This is something that none of us have ever really seen.”

We don’t want the “smart” fascist future you have been trying to sell us for so long and which you are now trying to force upon us with lies, fear and all your infrastructures of control.
We don’t want to be little submissive cogs in your machineries of greed and exploitation.
We don’t want to be told how to live and what to think.
We don’t want to be locked up indoors at your majesties’ pleasure, only allowed out of our cells to labour for your profit.
We don’t want to be distanced, isolated and alienated.
We don’t want to be the individually-wrapped slices of human flesh on which you gorge.
We didn’t want your first industrial revolution – when you threw us off our land and caged us in your dark satanic mills – and we certainly don’t want your fourth.
We don’t want to be cut off from the living world and confined to your sterile fake reality.
We don’t want to be policed and preached at by your drones and robots.
We don’t have to ask your permission to enjoy the world in which we belong – we will do so whenever, however and with whomever we choose.
We are not prepared to be patronised, humiliated or microchipped.
We refuse to plug ourselves meekly into the matrix of your total control.
We want you to bear in mind that you do not own us, that you cannot buy us and you will never control us.
We want you to know that we are free and will remain so unto the grave.
We want you to realise that when our time comes, we will make you pay for what you are doing to us.
And we want to remind you that there are very many more of us than of you.
A global resistance is beginning to form up against the coronazi clampdown.

“[Climate change] is a far more serious threat than the coronavirus, [which] is bad and serious, but we’ll recover somehow. We’re not going to recover from the melting of the polar ice sheets. . . . Just recently, there was a very interesting leak, a memo from JPMorgan Chase, America’s biggest bank, which warned that, in their words, ‘the survival of humanity’ is at risk if we continue on our present course, which included the funding of fossil fuel industries by the bank itself.”

How did the United States — the richest country in the world — become the worldwide epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, with one person dying of COVID-19 every 47 seconds? We spend the hour with Noam Chomsky, the world-renowned political dissident, linguist and author, discussing this unprecedented moment in history, and its political implications, as Senator Bernie Sanders announces he is suspending his campaign for the presidency. Chomsky also describes how frontline medical workers and progressive organizing are giving him hope.

AMY GOODMAN: We’re broadcasting from New York City, the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic. The U.S. itself is now the worldwide epicenter, with one person dying of COVID-19 every 47 seconds. Nearly 16,700 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the United States, with the number of confirmed cases approaching half a million — more than Italy, Spain and France combined. Of course, the true rate of infections is far, far higher due to a critical lack of testing. This comes as the Labor Department said Thursday over 6.6 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits over the past week, as the pace and scale of U.S. job losses is set to rival the Great Depression.
Well, for more on the political implications of this unprecedented moment, we turn today to Noam Chomsky for the hour, the world-renowned political dissident, linguist and author, laureate professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Arizona, Tucson, professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he taught for more than 50 years. His recent books include Global Discontents: Conversations on the Rising Threats to Democracy, Who Rules the World? and Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power…. continues below..

A chaotic struggle is ongoing between local State confinement, backed on one side by the small middle class and state and salaried workers, against those in favour of allowing the pandemic virus to kill the poor, backed by President Bolsonaro in his luxury walled area, by the tiny ruling land and property owners, and the mass of poor informal or day workers holding -Work or Starve- demos.
Brazil in times of the #coronavirus: Caught between isolation and rush, workers under dispute during the #pandemic
Brazil. Since last week, President Jair Bolsonaro has stirred spirits in the country by proposing to end the measures taken to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. Against the quarantine decreed by city and state governments, which shut down all sectors of society not deemed to be “essential activities”, the President has proposed the adoption of “vertical isolation”, restricted to groups at risk, urging others to return immediately to work.
Brazil 4/12/2020
20,964 cases
1,141 deaths
The death rate in Brasil soared to 1,141 by 12th April 2020.. It is still unknown whether the Covid virus will explode in tropical and sub tropical regions as it has in the northern hemisphere. If this is true Brazilians could face a terrifying nightmare, caused largely by the insane policies of the far right rulers under Bolsonaro.
