In Europe millions have come out against Monsanto’s top selling, cancer causing, herbicide Roundup, forcing the pro-business European Commission to ban it, only to then slip in a clause giving it 2 years more at least. But several countries and hundreds of Cities and Local Councils have already prohibited glyphosate spraying and now the movement has spread to Canada with the focus that wildlife is also being decimated.

Canada’s New Brunswick province has lately become a center of controversy regarding the use of Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, and the latest revelations involve the decline of deer populations due to widespread spraying of glyphosate – the active ingredient in Roundup.
Environmentalist groups are calling for a ban on the use of glyphosate for “forest management” purposes, after it was revealed that deer populations in the province have been reduced by half since 2007.

The dominance of GMOs in agriculture today is not based on their free market success. GMOs are prevalent because governments around the world subsidize these seeds, forcing small holders to introduce them. In this way, governments routinely assist biotech corporations in the takeover of a nations’ agriculture and farmer’s seed sovereignty. Of course, it’s all done under the guise of “feeding the world!” But this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Monsanto’s Roundup is a potent poison which can only be used on GMO crops that are resistant, causing a worldwide massacre that illustrates the dangers of GMO foods.
In fact, observations in Africa have found that smallholders in South Africa are actually burdened by genetically modified maize, which was forced on them through government program interventions starting in 2001. A paper in the South African Journal of Science by researchers Klara Fischer, Johnnie van den Berg and Charles Mutengwa found that South African smallholders would benefit more from a diverse selection of seed that is suitable to various growing conditions and changing pest pressures. UPDATE::LATE NEWS:: The first ship carrying EEUU frack gas to Spain arrived on 22nd July in Ferrol, Galicia. Activists and Ecological groups protested bitterly and accused the company of illegal handling and storage.
The first shipment of US frack-gas (‘shale gas’) has arrived in Portugal, followed by 6 more to Europe. The US plans hundreds of shipments, taking up to 20% of the euro gas market from their Russian rivals. With state help the enterprises have been busy strong arming and bribing EU companies into contracts, (eg. Galp (Portugal), Royal Dutch Shell and the Spanish Gas Natural. with the Rajoy govt only too eager to help).
A juicy business perhaps, aided by the usual US financial and military tools that have got the South Stream pipeline from Russia cancelled, have lined up countries and the EU against the German Nord Stream 2 pipeline, and have quietly forbidden their Ukraine ‘debt cow’ state from doing essential maintenance on their Russian pipeline, which still provides 16% of Europe’s gas.

The UK government is all for fracking, writes Dr Robin Russell-Jones, but on climate grounds alone it should be banned. Evidence from the US shows that shale gas is twice as dirty as coal from a climate viewpoint due to ‘fugitive emissions’ of methane. That makes fracking incompatible with the UK’s climate change commitments and the Paris Agreement – as the CCC may soon rule.
We have been unofficially informed that the CCC has accepted our data on fugitive emissions of methane – and that shale gas is twice as bad as coal from a climate change perspective. In other words fracking is likely to be banned.
