Toma La Calle..Granada..5000 personas!

Casi 5.000 personas toman las calles de Granada por una 'Democracia Real'

Granada, al igual que más de cincuenta ciudades españolas, ha respondido al llamamiento lanzado por la plataforma ‘Democracia Real Ya’ a través de la red y ha salido a la calle bajo el lema ‘No somos mercancía en manos de políticos y banqueros’. Se calcula que casi 5.000 personas han acudido a una manifestación que ha transcurrido sin incidentes.
La marcha ha partido a las 18.00 horas desde la Caleta rumbo a la plaza del Carmen, pero la coincidencia en el recorrido con la procesión de la Virgen del Rosario ha provocado que el final de la manifestación y la posterior lectura del manifiesto se produjera en la plaza de Isabel la Católica.
La manifestación ha sido promovida por plataformas de ciudadanos, ONGs y grupos no políticos y ha sido una de las más concurridas en Granada en los últimos años.
Las ideas principales del manifiesto leído fueron la igualdad, el progreso, la solidaridad, el libre acceso a la cultura, la sostenibilidad ecológica y el desarrollo, el bienestar y la felicidad de las personas. Además, se quejaron de que el actual funcionamiento de nuestro sistema económico y gubernamental no atiende a estas prioridades y es un obstáculo para el progreso de la humanidad.

Okupació al carrer Olzinelles, els mossos es retiren davant les mostres de solidaritat.

La nit del disabte 14 de maig al voltant de la 1 de la nit els mossos d’ esquadra s’ han presentat al carrer Olzinelles/n35 amb motiu de l’ ocupació d’ una casa. Els mossos han acordonat la zona on també han format un cordó policial, impedint el pas amb intencions de desallotjar.

Immediatament persones solidàries amb els okupes han anat acudint per donar el seu suport. Al cap d’ uns 20 minuts tot i que anava plovisquejant s’ han reunit unes 200 persones, aquestes han efectuat càntics com ” mossos d’ esquadra, fora del barri” “no us volem, ni us necessitem” o ” gent sense casa, casa sense gent, com s’ entén? ” i han tallat el trànsit.

Davant aquesta mostra de solidaritat els mossos d’ esquadra pressionats per la gent han desfet el cordó policial i s’ han retirat acompanyats per les solidàries que els han perseguit xiulant i cantant fins que han abandonat el carrer.

known. Scorpions are particularly recognisable by their spectacularly large, powerful pincers, which are enlarged appendages used to grasp and subdue prey. The famous stinging tail contains a pair of poison glands and is used to paralyse prey. Hated and admired since ancient times, they still strike fear into people though few are deadly. Around 2,000 species have been described in 13 families with species found on every continent except Antarctica, and not just under rocks in the desert!

Landless occupy eucalyptus forests..Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 10, 2011 (Tierramérica) – Brazilian and international environmental organisations and peasant farmer movements are taking aim at the forestry industry once again, this time accusing transnational corporation Stora Enso of illegally profiting from the production of wood pulp in the state of Bahia….

The accusations specifically target Veracel Celulosa, a joint venture between “two international leaders in the pulp and paper market” according to the company website – namely Brazil’s Fibria and the Swedish-Finnish forestry giant Stora Enso…….

…..Women members of the Movimento Sem  Terra.. (Landless Movement), have staged frequent emonstrations and forest occupations.

The agency of federal public prosecutors, and the national environmental authority IBAMA have imposed fines on Veracel for the pollution of rivers and streams, stemming from the use of toxic agrochemicals, particularly herbicides, said Fernandes.

The MST leader blamed the intensive planting of eucalyptus trees for the depletion of water sources, erosion, and the rapid deforestation of the Mata Atlântica or Atlantic Forest, the vast forest biome that once stretched along the entire Atlantic coast and has now been reduced to seven percent of its original size after centuries of agriculture and livestock activities and urbanisation…….

The pulp produced and 60 percent of the profits are sent abroad, and “we are left with the environmental liabilities of industrial monoculture plantations and the impoverishment of southern Bahia,” national MST leader João Pedro Stédile commented to Tierramérica……..

Springer and Mouzen report data from the Wisconsin Longitudinal Health Study, which has been compiling data on a group of about 1,000 men who graduated from high school in Wisconsin in 1957. Their study divides men into four groups (“quartiles”) based on their self-perceptions of the masculine ideal.

Men with the most “macho” opinions of the masculine ideal (“Women like men with big muscles,” “Men go to work; women look after the home”) were found to be 46 percent less likely than men with less “macho” perceptions to have done three things in the prior year: get a physical exam, get a flu shot, and get a PSA test.

However, the most interesting thing about this study is that the educational achievement level of the men in question had absolutely no impact on the results…
