Ten Thousand demand pardon for the Suiza 6 – “Trade Unionism is not a Crime!”

~ Guillermo Martínez, La Marea ~

Following the court’s refusal to suspend their sentences, the streets of Xixón (Asturias, Spain) once again chanted, “the Suiza 6 will not go to prison”.

The protest on Sunday (29 June) drew around 10,000 people, according to the organisers, and demonstrated their rejection of the prison sentences imposed on the union members by the Right Wing Courts.

Various unions and organisations joined the protest, demanding a pardon from the central government.

“Trade unionism is not a crime”, they repeated in their hoarse voices.

The demonstration started on Paseo de Begoña at noon and ended in front of the courthouse in the Asturian city, which once again vibrated with the activists’ passage. Erica Conrado, the general secretary of the CNT (National Union of Workers’ Unions), the union to which four of the convicted women belong, criticised the court’s refusal to allow the union members to divide their sentences, a measure that would have prevented them from going to prison.

.

The union’s pressure materialised in demonstrations in front of the shop and an attempt to mediate with the owner of the establishment after he also filed a complaint.

The process ended with a conviction by Judge Lino Rubio, known for his landmark rulings against union members.

They were sentenced to two years in prison for ‘serious coercion’ and another for ‘obstruction of justice’, which translates to a year and a half in prison.

Against the court ruling, Xixón has once again taken to the streets to strengthen this armed barricade of mutual support, which has continued to grow over time.

“The prison order could come at any moment. Our comrades live in a state of constant uncertainty”, Conrado told La Marea before the start of the demonstration. The sun was beginning to set over the city streets

“Irreparable damage has been caused after eight years of legal proceedings that have persecuted six people solely for defending the rights of the working class”, she added.

Throughout the march, which lasted a couple of hours, chants such as “worker fired, boss hanged,” “comrades, you are not alone”, and “the strength of the worker: solidarity” were heard constantly. Several of the convicted individuals also participated in the demonstration.

One of them welcomed the announcement by the Socialist government of Asturias that this Monday it will join the petition for a pardon already formalised by 22 union organisations.

“It’s a precious opportunity for the PSOE to position itself in favour of the working class it claims to defend”, the convicted woman stated.

Throwing paint into jet engines is symbolic, but the threat the State responds to is the potential for replication.

If these tactics go unchecked, they might signal a broader refusal: permission-less revolt, viral sabotage, and the spread of generalised dissent.

Lanzar pintura a los motores de los aviones es simbólico, pero la amenaza a la que responde el Estado es la posibilidad de que se replique. Iran: “Women, Life, Freedom” against the War

This statement by Iranian, Kurdish, and Afghani internationalist feminists argues that we must oppose the US and Israeli military assault on Iran while also refusing to endorse the repressive Iranian government.

Genocidal imperialist projects will never liberate us, nor will patriarchal nationalist regimes protect us.

🔷As regional tensions grow, Iranian authorities have increased security measures in Kurdish-majority areas, with reports of new checkpoints, arrests, and pressure on exiled activists’ families.

DHS posts AI ‘Alcatraz Alligator’ meme for illegals

To promote new 5,000-person detention facility in Florida

Sparks immediate criticism — here’s just some of the anger over the DHS post.

Construction of ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ Detention Center in Florida’s Everglades
Florida ’s Attorney General James Uthmeier derided Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other “communist members of Congress” as he promoted the state’s forthcoming “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center, challenging protesters to find the facility in the dense swampland of the Everglades. The construction of the center on the disused, 17,000 acre Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport west of Miami was announced earlier this week, with Uthmeier gloating in a social media video that it will require minimal additional security due to its remote location, which is home to such dangerous wildlife as alligators and pythons. The facility will consist largely of tents, open in July and be able to house up to 5,000 people detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, running at a cost of $450m a year. Championing the initiative during an appearance on the Newsmax show Carl Higbie Frontline , Uthmeier said : “I tell you, AOC and some of these communist members of Congress, if they want to come and cry in front of this detention center, good luck finding it. It’s right in the middle of the Everglades.” The new detention center was also cheered by Laura Ingraham on Fox News, who hosted Florida Gov.

““Rather than Miccosukee homelands being an uninhabited wasteland for alligators and pythons, as some have suggested, the Big Cypress is the Tribe’s traditional homelands. The landscape has protected the Miccosukee and Seminole people for generations.””

The Independent

Garrett Stuart

““To have alligators and pythons be the security guards, only someone who’s never spent time in the swamp would ever say something like that.””

The Associated Press

Ron DeSantis

““The reason why we’re doing this is ’cause we want to increase deportations, and what ICE has told us is that even though all my sheriffs and police are working constructively to apprehend illegals, they just need more space because when you bring illegals in, they have to process them.””

Native leaders blast construction of Florida’s ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ on land they call sacred

What really gets me is how this is being handled and for what purpose. Throwing up tents in the middle of the wilderness to house people isn’t a thoughtful solution, it’s a rushed headline grab. It feels careless, like someone trying to look tough instead of actually doing the hard work. And honestly, watching the governor talk about it, it’s hard not to notice the smirk. This isn’t a joke. These are people’s lives. Anyone really paying attention should be asking, how did we get here?

It’s Seminole land, it’s sacred to the tribe and Floridians as well, it’s a very sensitive eco system as well, not to mention the fact it will be cruel punishment without due process, they really do believe that they have absolute power, as far as I’m concerned the whole GANG has ruined our state , people are afraid to speak up, their worried they’ll end up in Alligator Alcatraz 😡

LOL… Apparently, the land wasn’t sacred when the airfield was built there, but now it’s suddenly sacred.

Airstrip has been there how long? Right or wrong, viable space. No crying before today. Illegal came from worse. Don’t deserve better. Have you invited them to your home?

Iranians refugees’ Mutual Aid after US/Israeli Destruction and Slaughter

Over 900 mostly civilians massacred (media numbers) against just 24 Israelis, yet Iranian solidarity wins.

Iranians Displaced by Israeli Assault Unsure Whether to Return Home After Ceasefire

Over two days last week, Sahar, a 40-year-old sociologist and researcher in central Tehran, drove more than 400 miles north to the city of Rasht in her white Peugeot 206 with her elderly mother in the passenger seat. They were hoping to escape Israel’s aerial bombardment that began without warning on June 13, but the explosions followed them across the provinces.

Sahar’s 70-year-old mother suffers from PTSD from the 1980s Iran-Iraq war, and from Sahar’s arrest and imprisonment during the 2009 popular uprising known as the Green Movement, sparked by a disputed presidential election.

My mother’s doctor had told us we should keep her in a major city—she needs to be close to medical centers. So, at first, we decided to stay in Tehran.

🇮🇷 A funeral was held for Yaran Ghasemian, the youngest martyr killed by Israel.

But after her panic attacks intensified, we decided to leave for Rasht, in northern Iran, on June 18. We went to stay at a friend’s home,” Sahar, who declined to give her full name out of fear for her safety, told Drop Site.

On the evening of June 20—their second night in Rasht—Israel struck the Sefid Rood area, close to where they were staying. “As the regime shut down the internet, we didn’t have access, and I couldn’t check the news.

I didn’t know the city had been issued an evacuation warning. The sound was terrifying—I can’t even describe it. My mother had a breakdown. We rushed her to the hospital to get a sedative injection.”

The hospital was a scene of chaos and panic, Sahar said. “They gave my mother a sedative, and we immediately set out again, back to Tehran.” Yet when they arrived in the capital two days later, the Israeli aerial bombardment continued.

“On Sunday night, June 23, it all started again. It was horrifying, and it wouldn’t stop. It began at 2 a.m. I took my mom to the hospital at 6 in the morning, and they gave her another sedative. We managed to sleep for four hours.

I woke up at 10 a.m.—it felt like the house was collapsing on top of me. They bombed all over Tehran. I counted 20 explosions. One was very close—near Ghasr Crossroads,” Sahar said.
