Therefore, I call on all our people in Europe, especially our people in Germany, the Êzidî community, the Alevi community, the youth, women, our international friends who have worked so hard for Rêber Apo’s physical freedom in this period, to flock to Cologne with the enthusiasm and morale of the anniversary of the founding of the PKK and show the whole world that we do not tolerate one more hour in which the isolation of Rêber Apo continues.”

AFP, citing a legal sources, has reported that a French court ordered the release of Lebanese and pro-Palestine activist George Abdallah, who had been jailed for 40 years since 1984.
The court ruled that Abdallah will be released on December 6 on the condition of leaving France, however, French “anti-terror” prosecutors told AFP, that they would appeal..
Abdallah was accused of assassinating US and Israeli diplomats.
Despite completing the minimum portion of his life sentence in 1999, French authorities denied his eight parole requests.
Now 73 years old, Abdallah was arrested in France in 1984 and after pretrial detention, convicted in 1987 for complicity in two murders. Colonel Charles Ray, US military attaché and CIA intelligence officer, was shot in Paris on January 18, 1982.
Second secretary of Israel’s embassy and Mossad intelligence officer, Yacov Barsimantov was shot in Paris on March 31, 1982.
The intelligence functions of the two victims are confirmed nowadays by Yves Bonnet, head between 1982 and 1985 of the Direction de la surveillance du territoire [Territorial Surveillance Directorate, French counter intelligence agency, DST].

As a matter of course : Abdallah would have not been sentenced to life imprisonment without formal intervention of the US government.
The investigators found no evidence of its membership in the FARL or involvement in the murders.
That was rather a matter of intelligence. And according to several former French professionals, the intelligence was wrong.

Under French law, Abdallah could have been granted parole since 1999.
But obviously, like it also appeared in WikiLeaks here and here, the US authorities, including Hillary Clinton, were continuing to lobby their French lackeys against his parole.

A French court on Friday ordered the release of Lebanese pro-Palestine activist Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, Europe’s longest-held political prisoner, after 40 years in prison.

Pentagon ‘shocked’ by Houthi arsenal – Axios

The arsenal now possessed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels has come as a shock to the Pentagon, Axios reported on Thursday. According to the outlet, the Pentagon’s top weapons buyer, Bill LaPlante, told a defense summit in Washington earlier this week that the group’s capabilities “are getting scary.”
The Houthis, which control the Yemeni capital of Sanaa and significant areas in the northwestern part of the country, have been disrupting shipping in the Red Sea over the past year in an attempt to pressure Israel over the war in Gaza.

Court reduces two Palestine activists’ sentences from 12 to 10 months, again ignoring social work reports which did not recommend jail time
Two Palestine Action activists, imprisoned for taking action to disrupt the operations of French arms company Thales in Govan, Glasgow, have been refused their appeal for immediate release from HMP Barlinnie. Stuart Bretherton and Calum Lacy have been imprisoned since the 20 August for ‘breach of the peace’, surrounding actions at the factory in June 2022.
According to a Palestine Action press release, at an appeal hearing at Edinburgh’s High Court of Justiciary on 5 November, their sentences were nevertheless reduced from 12 to 10 months.
They were imprisoned alongside three others, collectively the ‘Thales 5’, who each face sentences between 12 and 14 months. T
he action at Thales sought to disrupt the French arms giant’s operations, highlighting its links with Israel’s largest arms firm, Elbit Systems, along with its direct supplies to the Israeli military.
Their imprisonment, superseding Scottish Sentencing Council guidelines against custodial sentences for those under 25 years of age, was issued by sheriff John McCormick to “deter” further actions against weapons companies in Scotland. Both he and the Judges overseeing the appeal ignored the social work reports, which did not recommend jail as appropriate sentencing in this case.
“Stuart and I are expecting and having to go through pregnancy without him has been really difficult”, said Bretherton’s partner, Annie Lane, “but I think of the all those pregnant or with children living in Palestine under Israeli apartheid and I know what I am experiencing will never be as painful”.
The Thales 5 can be supported via a CrowdFunder set up by their family and friends. They are currently joined by eleven others in Britain and four in the United States imprisoned for taking direct action against Elbit systems and other arms companies complicit in the Gaza genocide.

How much land, water, and other resources does our lifestyle require? And how can we adapt this lifestyle to stay within the limits of what the Earth can give? It is possible, Hubacek shows, but it will require policies based on scientific evidence.
With eight billion people, we use a lot of the Earth’s resources in ways that are likely unsustainable. Klaus Hubacek, Professor of Science, Technology and Society at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, takes stock of the situation.

Our consumption patterns affect the environment, that much we know. A clear example is the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
It has been rising at an increasingly faster rate since the 1960s, resulting in global warming, along with all its dire consequences. There is a limit to the amount of consumption the Earth can support, and in 2009, scientists defined nine ‘planetary boundaries’ as indicators of when we have reached that limit.
Crossing them may lead to irreversible damage to the Earth’s stability and resilience. These planetary boundaries include indicators such as ocean acidification and the global use of fresh water.
In 2023, six of these planetary boundaries had already been crossed.

Hubacek has devoted his academic career to studying how humanity is performing in terms of these planetary boundaries, and what needs to change to prevent us from crossing them even further. According to him, ‘the basic calculation is: given a certain number of people on the planet and the planetary boundaries, how much can we consume to stay inside these limits?’.

At the moment, the richest one per cent of the world’s population produces 50 times more greenhouse gasses than the four billion people in the bottom 50 per cent.
The divide between the rich and the poor on this planet is a common thread in Hubacek’s work. He is one of the authors of a paper, published in the journal Nature on 13 November, that describes this issue. Using an extensive dataset covering up to 201 consumption groups across 168 countries, the paper analyses the impact of spending patterns on six key environmental indicators.
