There is a hidden war being waged against Yemen, a multinational assault against the country’svitalnatural resources. For years, foreign states and companies have engaged in the illicit plundering of Yemen’s oil and gas – war profiteering inthepoorest nation in West Asia.
The US-backed and Saudi-led war in Yemen has not only created a severe countrywide humanitarian crisis, but has also spawned external competition over the looting of Yemen’s natural resources, particularly oil and gas. Yemen’s strategic location and its many ports make it an ideal hub for transporting stolen resources quickly and efficiently.
While the eight-year conflict has somewhat subsided due toongoing direct peace talksbetween Riyadh and Sanaa, the exploitation of these resources continues unabated, with different Yemeni authorities and external states vying for control.
Three active oil and gas fields are currently under the authority of foreign aggressors who lead the war coalition in Yemen. Marib, a…
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz leads Europe in ‘exponential armed escalation’ of Ukraine dispute
German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, received an icy welcome at a ‘European Festival’ organized by his own Social Democratic Party (SPD) on Friday. Scholz was booed and whistled at as he sought to address a festival held in the town of Falkensee, in the German state of Brandenburg, near Berlin.
Footage published by the Ruptly video agency shows event attendees criticizing Scholz for being a “people’s traitor” and a “warmonger.” Few supporters are seen cheering for the chancellor. A group was also heard shouting “liar” and “bandit” while demanding “peace without weapons” and urging Scholz to “go away.”
According to the German tabloid Bild, some of the chancellor’s critics are associated with the country’s right-wing scene and were wearing clothes bearing symbols of Russia and the anti-vaccination movement.
Scholz defended his government’s policies amid the chilly reception, insisting that Russian President Vladimir Putin was a “warmonger” for ordering the military operation in Ukraine. He also dismissed his critics as “loudmouths,” adding that had they had “any sense in [their] brains” they would criticize the Russian leadership instead of him.
The chancellor was supported by Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke, who remarked that the demonstration “belongs on the Red Square.” Woidke, an SPD member, told the demonstrators that it was thanks to “democracy” and “freedom” that they were allowed to “quarrel” at the rally.
A YouGov survey published in May suggested that most Germans favored peace talks between Kiev and Moscow. As many as 54% of the respondents also opposed Ukraine’s potential NATO membership.
The German public also appeared to be wary of the massive military support Berlin provided to Kiev throughout the conflict. In a February survey, almost two-thirds of Germans polled opposed providing Kiev with fighter jets. In December 2022, a YouGov poll indicated that 45% were against sending German Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine.
A number of German celebrities and public figures have also sent two open letters to Scholz, in which they urged Berlin to stop supplying Ukrainian forces with arms and focus instead on reaching a ceasefire through peaceful means instead.

As soon as journalist Kit Klarenberg landed in his home country of Britain on May 17, 2023, six anonymous plainclothes counter-terror officers detained him.
British counter-terror police detained journalist Kit Klarenberg upon his arrival at London’s Luton airport and subjected him to an extended interrogation about his political views and reporting for The Grayzone.
During Klarenberg’s detention, police seized the journalist’s electronic devices and SD cards, fingerprinted him, took DNA swabs, and photographed him intensively. They threatened to arrest him if he did not comply.
In this video @KitKlarenberg recounts his experience of being detained on entry to UK by counter-terrorism police. Citizens are left wondering why it's a journalist who reports on the risks of blowback terrorism that is the one being interrogated …https://t.co/CF6BC0XBlR
Klarenberg’s interrogation appears to be London’s way of retaliating for the journalist’s blockbuster reports exposing major British and US intelligence intrigues. In the past year alone, Klarenberg revealed how a cabal of Tory national security hardliners violated the Official Secrets Act to exploit Brexit and install Boris Johnson as prime minister.
Then came his report on the CIA’s recruitment of two 9/11 hijackers this April, a viral sensation that generated massive social media attention.
Among Klarenberg’s most consequential exposés was his June 2022 report unmasking British journalist Paul Mason as a UK security state collaborator hellbent on destroying The Grayzone and other media outlets, academics, and activists critical of NATO’s role in Ukraine.
Among Klarenberg’s most consequential exposés was his June 2022 report unmasking British journalist Paul Mason as a UK security state collaborator hellbent on destroying The Grayzone and other media outlets, academics, and activists critical of NATO’s role in Ukraine.
Because Klarenberg’s reporting on Mason relied heavily on leaked emails, Mason falsely accused him of “assisting a Russian state-backed hack-and-leak disinformation campaign.” Mason has also reported the leak of his emails to the British police.
Emma Briant, a self-styled disinformation expert who participated in Mason’s campaign to sabotage NATO critics, dispatched lawyers to demand Klarenberg remove all of his articles that mention her from the internet. The lawyer letters also threatened costly super injunctions to prevent further reporting, and challenged the “authenticity” of the emails’ content.
Long-running anarchist radio and podcast The Final Straw presents a statement from Mark “Mustafa” Hinkston, a look at the upcoming June 11th day of solidarity with long-term anarchist prisoners, and a discussion on continuing solidarity with prisoners arrested following the George Floyd uprising.
First up, after some announcements concerning a local case of police brutality and jail issues in Buncombe County, NC, we’ll hear a statement from Mark “Mustafa” Hinkston, a politicized prisoner we first heard from some years back, who is being held in Ohio about the cruelty of his keeping. His letter can be found below.
Then, we’ll hear a reading out of Against Oblivion, Against Despair: A Call for June 11th , an invitation to the 2023 celebration of the June 11th International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason and All Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners. More on that, including translations of the statement, statements by prisoners, artwork, action reports, can be found at June11.org.
Finally, we’ll hear a chat with Chazz, an anarchist participating in continued support of prisoners from the George Floyd Uprising.
Greetings comrades. Let me tell you about this prison, the federal supermax ADX [in Florence, Colorado]. In this joint there are different levels and units with varying levels of physical isolation and communication, but there are things we all experience.
A fact that calls into question the viability of biofuels based on residues such as animal fats, despite the fact that they are sold as the panacea to decarbonise the European transport sector.
The use of biodiesel from animal fats to power our cars and planes has doubled in the last decade and is 40 times higher than in 2006, a new study by Transport & Environment (T&E) shows.
The environmental group, together with ECODES and Ecologistas en Acción, calls for more transparency so that consumers know what goes into their deposits and feeds their flights.
The EU promotes this by-product of industrial and intensive farming to, supposedly, reduce carbon emissions from the fuels used in transport, despite the strong impact of this model of industrial farming on emissions. Now they target aircraft and, to a lesser extent, ships.
However, as T&E warns in its study, there are not enough fats to meet all the demand.
Almost half of European animal fats are already used for the production of biodiesel, despite the fact that they are widely used in the animal feed, soap and cosmetics industries:
The burning of biofuels from animal fats will triple by 2030 , which poses two bottlenecks in terms of its availability and sustainability.
In fact, today, as T&E warns, talking about sustainable production is not correct in the case of a sector such as industrial livestock farming with high methane emissions and deforestation due to imported soybeans for animal feed.
Carlos Rico, responsible for biofuels in the Spanish office of T&E, affirms that “it turns out that pigs fly. We’ve been burning animal fats in cars for years without drivers knowing. Now they will be the fuel for your next flight.
But this cannot be sustained without depriving other sectors of them, which in turn are likely to migrate to harmful alternatives such as palm oil. We need more transparency so consumers know what goes into their tanks and fuels their flights.”
A flight from Paris to New York needs 8,800 dead pigs
Large airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air have recently closed important agreements with oil suppliers for the manufacture of so-called “sustainable aviation fuels” (SAF, for its acronym in English). Information on the exact raw materials used in SAFs is often imprecise and not transparent.
