Bogotá, the Colombian capital, has been rocked by daily clashes in the street since the police tortured and murdered Javier Ordóñez on video last Wednesday.

Thirteen protesters have already lost their lives and hundreds have been injured in clashes with the police. Most of the victims were shot and killed, increasing the fury of the protesters.

On Friday, the Colombian police assumed their responsibility for the repression through a message on their official Twitter account.

On Monday a demonstration turned into a pitched battle between protesters and riot police, who dispersed the crowd with stun grenades and tear gas.

Judges are investigating 65 police officers for abuse of authority and around 40 weapons have been seized to see if they were the cause of the fatal shots against protesters.

The main mobilizations have taken place in Bosa, Kennedy, Teusaquillo, Suba and Engativá, with burning of vehicles and garbage containers at the hands of the CAI (Immediate Action Commands).

A group of protesters from the Misak community knocked down the monument to the Spanish conqueror Sebastián de Belalcázar, founder of the cities of Quito, Cali and Popayán, during a march in rejection of the murders of social leaders.

In the images, you can see how the indigenous people use ropes to knock down the statue located in the center of Popayán.

The mayor of the town, Juan Carlos López Castrillón, lamented the act of vandalism and affirmed that the monument will be placed back on the pedestal.

«This act against a symbol of the city is unfortunate and painful. It is a monument of character and that is why our decision is to restore it and put it back, ”he said.

Local judicial authorities have already launched an investigation to identify and punish those responsible for the demolition.

For her part, the president of the Indigenous and Social Alternative Movement (Mais), Martha Peralta, called De Belalcázar “a genocide who massacred the peoples he conquered.”

Your mobile internet provider charges you much too much, by the month. Then he commonly gives you access ”FREE” for big US sites like Facebook, who in turn give him ‘discount’.

This becomes more common daily with lots of variations, especially in Europe. Till little by little all the corporations ‘buy into’ it and all other sites become expensive (also due to other scams) and marginalised.

They call this “Zero-Rating”
