STOP dehumanizing Palestinians!

It has been more than 18 months since the Israeli government began their most recent assault on Gaza and the West Bank.

The retaliation for the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack in Israel, has escalated to what the international community has called genocide, therefore, GRIID will be providing weekly links to information and analysis that we think can better inform us of what is happening, along with the role that the US government is playing.

We will also provide information on local events and actions that people can get involved in.

All of this information is to provide people with the capacity of what Noam Chomsky refers to as, intellectual self-defense.

The Civil Defense in Gaza disclosed that 54 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes since Saturday’s dawn. 2o April 2025

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced in its daily report on April 19 that Israeli occupation forces have killed 51,157 Palestinians and injured 116,724 others since October 7, 2023. In detail, 1,783 have been martyred, and 4,683 others have been injured since March 18, after “Israel” broke the ceasefire agreement and resumed its war on Gaza. https://t.me/almayadeenenglish/10804

US and UK may recognize a mafia breakaway area of Somalia for a Palestinian Concentration Camp

The US and Israel is seeking anywhere to dump over 2 million survivors of their Gaza Genocide. The UK is offering Somaliland, a militarized gangland enclave they have colonized in all but name

UK covers up massacre report in Somaliland ‘police statelet’ colony

In recent months, Somaliland has become a subject of intense, unprecedented interest for the Western media. As Israeli and US officials scramble to find a destination to forcibly relocate Gaza’s population from their shattered homeland, the little-acknowledged, unrecognised breakaway statelet is increasingly viewed as an attractive option.

Multiple mainstream media reports indicate officials in Tel Aviv and Washington are making discrete overtures to Hargeisa on the topic. On March 14th, the Financial Times revealed:

“A US official briefed on Washington’s initial contacts with Somaliland’s presidency said discussions had begun about a possible deal to recognise the de facto state in return for the establishment of a military base near the port of Berbera on the Red Sea coast.”

Somaliland’s President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi has made international recognition a major priority, and the prospect of a permanent US military presence insulating the breakaway territory from violent instability that regularly engulfs Somalia is also no doubt enormously attractive.

From Washington’s perspective too, such an arrangement offers profuse geopolitical gains well-beyond the involuntary relocation of millions of Palestinians, to make way for Trump’s fantasised ‘Gaza-Lago’. For one, Somaliland’s proximity to the Arabian peninsula makes the territory an ideal staging ground for strikes on Yemen.

This would represent a vital new strategic foothold for the Empire in Africa, at a time French and US occupation forces are being evicted from countries across the continent with ever-increasing rapidity. Moreover, it could serve as a counterweight to constantly growing Chinese and Russian influence locally.

In 2017, Beijing established its very first overseas military base in Somaliland’s neighbouring Djibouti. Ever since, the country has been a pugnacious critic of Western policy in the region, and allowed Iranian ships to dock at its ports.

In the Valley of Death: Somaliland’s Forgotten Genocide.. 1989 ‘Even in Hargeisa, many people don’t realize the extent of US support during the genocide. No American has ever apologized for what happened in Somaliland..’

The geopolitical and military utility of Somaliland’s recognition as a state has long-been understood in Washington. Project 2025, a lengthy “mandate for leadership” drawn up by the right-wing Heritage Foundation think tank, widely-perceived as a blueprint for Donald Trump’s second term in office, contained a dedicated section on “[countering] malign Chinese activity” in Africa.

It specifically recommended “the recognition of Somaliland statehood as a hedge against the US’ deteriorating position in Djibouti.”

Trump’s Scottish Golf Course sabotaged over Plan to murder or deport millions of Palestinians from Gaza for Luxury Hotels etc

Pro-Palestinian activists have vandalized US President Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland in response to his proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza and transform the area into a tourist destination.

Palestine Action, the group behind the protest, said on Saturday that the action was “in response to the American administration’s plans and threats to destroy, ethnically cleanse, and ‘take over’ the Palestinian Gaza Strip.”.

Videos shared by the activists show “GAZA IS NOT FOR SALE” painted in large white letters on the greens, with several holes dug up.

“Whilst Trump attempts to treat Gaza as his property, he should know his own property is within reach,” the group wrote on X.

Another post included images of slogans such as “Free Gaza” painted in red on the clubhouse. The group claimed the golf course was fully shut down following the action.

A representative for Trump Turnberry condemned the incident as a “childish, criminal act” and insisted that it would not disrupt operations.

Scottish police confirmed that an investigation is underway.

Trump floated the idea of relocating Gaza’s population and redeveloping the area in February. His plan to transform the enclave into a luxury tourist destination, to be known as the “Riviera of the Middle East,” involves moving more than 2 million Palestinians to neighboring Arab countries.

He previously shared an AI-generated video promoting “Trump Gaza,” which depicts a resort featuring himself alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Gaza has suffered extensive destruction following the Israeli military operation launched after the Hamas surprise attack on October 7, in which around 1,200 Israelis were killed and 250 were taken hostage.

The proposal was widely condemned by Palestinian leaders. Arab nations warned it would “put oil on the fire in the region.”

More than 48,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed since then, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, with around 70% of the buildings in northern Gaza damaged or destroyed, rendering large parts of the territory uninhabitable.

Israel halts entry of Aid to Gaza – refuses phase 2 of Ceasefire

Israel has halted all humanitarian aid to Gaza, citing a refusal by the militant group Hamas to extend phase one of an internationally brokered ceasefire deal that expired on Saturday.

But extending phase one was not part of the agreement.

The Israeli prime minister’s office made the announcement in a post on X on Sunday.

Gaza’s Jabalya refugee camp: Witness describes aftermath

“With the conclusion of the 1st stage of the hostages deal and in light of Hamas’s refusal to accept the Witkoff framework for the continuation of the talks, to which Israel agreed, PM Netanyahu decided: as of this morning, entry of all goods & supplies to the Gaza Strip be halted,” the statement read.

According to the public broadcaster Kan, Israel believes that enough aid has entered the enclave in recent weeks to sustain Hamas for months.

According to the Witkoff framework, a proposal by US special envoy Steve Witkoff, the truce should be prolonged during the Ramadan and Passover holiday period through April.

Hamas rejected the plan on Saturday, urging Israel to move forward with the second phase instead.

Brokered by the US, Qatar, and Egypt, the ceasefire deal is supposed to encompass three phases, each lasting 42 days.

The first phase included a truce and a prisoner exchange. The second phase is intended to create a long-term cessation of hostilities, the release of all remaining captives, and a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

The third phase should focus on Gaza’s reconstruction under the supervision of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Nations.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem told Qatar-based Al Araby TV on Saturday that no talks were underway regarding the second phase of the agreement.

Israel is reluctant to proceed to the next stage because it wants to secure the return of the remaining hostages while keeping the option of resuming hostilities open, Qassem claimed.

In reality Israeli attacks have never ceased, with hundreds of ceasefire breakages.

And now Israel refuses to release their quota of Palestinian “hostages” despite receiving theirs from Hamas as promised.

On Sunday, Hamas described Netanyahu’s decision to halt humanitarian aid into Gaza as “cheap blackmail” and a “coup” against the ceasefire deal. The militant group also previously accused Israel of truce violations.

In the first phase of the agreement, Hamas released 33 Israeli hostages, including the bodies of those deceased, in exchange for roughly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. Fifty-nine hostages remain in Gaza, with Israeli assessments indicating that at least 35 of them are dead.

“Israel will not allow a ceasefire without the release of our hostages,” Netanyahu’s office stated on Sunday, threatening “further consequences” if Hamas continues to say no to the proposal.

The hostages were abducted during the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack on Israel, which killed approximately 1,200 people. In the past 16 months, nearly 47,000 people in Gaza have been killed, according to the enclave’s health authorities.

Gaza Children Killed, How Many Children Killed in Gaza?

The country’s foreign minister has said the cease-fire in Gaza must lay the groundwork for an independent Palestinian state

South Africa’s International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola has welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas after 15 months of Israel’s devastating assault on Gaza.

In a statement issued by the departmental spokesperson, Chrispin Phiri following the Israel and Hamas agreement, the South African government, which has been vocal in its stance against the Israeli occupation of Palestine, called for the implementation of a “just and lasting peace” that ensures the human rights of both Palestinians and Israelis are protected and promoted.

“The ceasefire agreement is a crucial first step toward ending the severe humanitarian crisis faced by the 2.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has deemed to be plausibly genocidal.

”The ceasefire must lay the basis for a just peace, which should include the establishment of a contiguous, independent, and viable Palestinian State.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs hailed the Gaza ceasefire as a victory for Palestinian unity and Resistance, emphasizing it as a pivotal moment in the struggle against the Israeli occupation’s “colonial eradication plan targeting the Palestinian nation.”

”The Palestinian sovereignty and territorial integrity must be upheld. It is imperative that no land is annexed in either Gaza or the West Bank following the ceasefire and that illegal settlement expansion is halted.”.

Phiri stated that, by the ICJ’s successive rulings, the occupying power must adhere to the provisional measures prescribed by the ICJ.

”Immediate and massive humanitarian aid is urgently needed to provide relief to civilians in Gaza. All obstacles to delivering humanitarian assistance must be lifted immediately and unconditionally, allowing civilians unrestricted access to essential food, water, shelter, and healthcare,” said Phiri.

The department reiterated that international and humanitarian laws must be respected and upheld.

Meanwhile, the Palestine Solidarity Alliance said the atrocities committed against innocent civilians in Gaza cannot go unaddressed.

”We welcome the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, a crucial step after 15 months of relentless bombing and destruction that have inflicted a holocaust upon the Palestinian people, resulting in over 100,000 men, women, and children killed, according to the latest Lancet report.

“This ceasefire is not merely a temporary halt to violence; it is an opportunity for survivors to mourn their dead, bury their loved ones, and begin the arduous process of rebuilding their lives and communities.

“The scale of suffering, loss of life, and destruction is staggering, and we demand accountability for the perpetrators of these heinous acts. Those responsible for war crimes must be prosecuted to ensure justice for the victims and to prevent further atrocities in the future,” read the statement.

The organisation urged the international community to support reparations for the victims of the violence, helping to restore dignity and provide necessary resources for rebuilding lives.

In addition, the movement called for immediate and unrestricted access for health workers, journalists, and other international observers to enter Gaza after facing a blockade by the Israeli government.

Furthermore, it said the ongoing occupation, illegal settlements, and de facto annexation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem must come to an end, as affirmed by the ICJ Advisory Opinion.

Protesters urge Poland to arrest Netanyahu for Genocide as he Hypocritically visits Auschwitz

Hundreds of people marched in Warsaw on Friday to protest against the Polish government’s decision not to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In November, The Hague-based court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former defense minister, Yoav Gallant, on charges of committing war crimes in Gaza. On Thursday, the office of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Warsaw would not arrest Netanyahu if the Israeli leader travels to Poland for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi Auschwitz death camp during World War II.

screenshot The crowd chanted “arrest Netanyahu,” as well as accusations that Tusk and Polish President Andrzej Duda are “defending genocide.”

Because the ICC lacks any police force or enforcement powers of its own, it relies on the countries that signed the Rome Statute to enforce its warrants. Poland signed the treaty, but Israel did not. Netanyahu has denied the accusations of war crimes and reaffirmed that the Jewish state does not recognize the court’s jurisdiction.

The Israeli prime minister is not currently planning to attend the ceremony commemorating the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz, the Times of Israel wrote on Thursday, citing an aide in the Netanyahu cabinet. Netanyahu may consider attending, but Poland would have to “solve the ICC issue” first, the aide said.

On Thursday, the US House of Representatives passed a bill authorizing the imposition of sanctions on the ICC if the court charges Americans or citizens of vassal nations.

Shattering the bonds: Will 2025 be the year of freedom for former colonies?

Good news is coming from West Africa: last November landlocked Chad announced an immediate end to all security and defense ties with former colonial ruler France. The surprise announcement came just hours after the French foreign minister met Chadian President Mahamat Déby.

READ MORE: France is losing the last vestiges of its grip on Africa

With this decision, Chad joins a growing list of former French colonies rejecting Paris’ influence and kicking out its troops. OnDecember 26 France handed over the first of its military bases to the Chadian army in Faya-Largeau. Paris will also evacuate troops from two more bases: in the capital N’Djamena and in the eastern city of Abeche.

In a pointed statement, Chadian Foreign Minister Abderaman Koulamallah declared, “France must henceforth consider that Chad has grown up” and is a “sovereign state.” This rebuke reflects a broader wave across Africa, especially in the Sahel, where countries like Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso have already cast off French influence.

France’s role in the Libyan tragedy

The last decade saw French domination of former African colonies waning. A new generation of African leaders began to question their countries’ unequal ties to France, with Paris overexploiting their natural resources, leaving them to poverty and corrupt regimes Paris sustains with little tolerance for dissent.

Libya, another African country, is a good example of French intolerance of any challenges to their hegemony. Under the late leader Muammar Gaddafi, Libya played a leading role in creating the African Union, pushed for a unified African military and more continental economic integration. Paris believed that Gaddafi’s aspirations, given his continental popularity and Libya’s vast financial resources, were a threat to its influence across Africa.

Libya is still in chaos in 2025 and the jihadi militia wars caused by his killing still spread across Africa
