Happy May Day 2011 Everyone!

Never forget the martyrs who fought against the wage system and capitalist exploitation. Never forget the millions of workers who continue the struggle today. There is nothing greater on earth than fighting for total freedom, and that means freedom from all forms of authority.

Keep the struggle going. Never make peace with your oppressors.

Solidarity and (A).

Michael Dickinson: A Poem for the Royal Wedding

(this is the ending)

.….But in the streets of London, during the Royal Wedding Day grand

Thousands of police are on patrol, and protests have been banned.

But the dissenters are there and their voice will be heard.

Enough of this class system and monarchy absurd!

While the wedding guests sit cosy in the Abbey on their butts

The poor people of Britain suffer from vicious Conservative cuts.

While the British Prime Minister bows low to the Queen

The public observe the class system obscene.

Take heed of the rumblings, William and Kate,

The time has come to abdicate!

Abolish the monarchy, and let there not be a sequel!

Instead, from now on let’s all be equal!

Christiania: last stand after 39 years

For four decades, the freetown of Christiania has existed as a testimony to an alternative way of life, where hash was sold openly and squatters’ shacks jostled comfortably with architect-designed eco-sheds.

For some, the commune was a human jungle in the centre of Copenhagen; for others a bastion of irreverence.

But now residents have erected its last line of defence against the Danish government attempts to “normalise” one of Europe’s most famous squats after 40 years of legal wrangling.

Residents have erected fences at entrance points which they patrol, handing out flyers which declare that “Christiania will be temporarily closed until further notice”. Cafes and shops were closed as residents began meetings to debate their future.

– Cops Raid UK Social Centres –

.

…Apparently the warrant at the RatStar was for stolen goods…….Nothing must be allowed to interfere with the fawning lackyism that our rulers like to refer to as patriotism. There have been a number of arrests. And the Green and Black Cross have set up a legal helpline for those affected on 07946 541 511.

….During the attack on Grow Heathrow, sleeping people were dragged out of their beds by up to 40 cops.  The police left having seen mostly vegetables and some bees. I’m unconvinced that vegetables (organic or not) required the possibly illegal presence of dozens of riot cops to stop them from being repurposed as guillotines or whatever mad nonsense the cops will inevitably say they……….

The Arab world is in revolutionary turmoil. How will America react and adapt? To understand the role of the US in the Middle East we need to understand some simple – but concealed – truths. In a new book published this month Noam Chomsky does just that.

Permaculture – Nature as our Teacher

In my first blog, I introduced the ethics of permaculture. This time I want to explain the principles. We need these principles to provide a set of universally applicable guidelines that can be used in designing sustainable systems. Otherwise, permaculture becomes merely a lifestyle choice within an existing unsustainable system.
These principles can be inherent in any permaculture design, in any climate, and on any scale. They have been derived from the thoughtful observation of nature, and from earlier work by ecologists, landscape designers and environmental science.

Each principle can be thought of as a door that opens into a whole system of thinking, providing a different perspective that can be understood at varying levels of depth and application. David Holmgren, the co-originator of permaculture, redefined permaculture principles in his seminal book, Permaculture – Principles and Pathways Beyond Sustainability.
When I started giving talks about permaculture to all sorts of different audiences, I decided to write my own explanations and apply the principle not only to designing gardens and farms but to business, society and culture…. CONT/

rave reviews for The Free

Whoosh. That’s how I feel. Incredible, beautiful prose and an original style that creates a niche of it’s own. Clever, and funny but with a thread of darkness woven all the way through. This book belongs on my shelf in print, or at least in my Kindle library.   samtsuji@authonomy samtsuji@gmail.com

Congratulation .Wow. This is exceptional – an absolutely riveting read. It is hilarious and then tragic. The characters bounding off the page. One moment I was laughing, the next almost in tears for Linda and the terrible abuse. It was also so true to life and dramatically exaggerated, but so funny. It is so cleverly written. First person can be difficult but even so you had such well rounded characters, settings and dialogue. Barney was so credible and endearing. I will read on defintely with this.                                                Katy Roberts oakwood-arts.co.uk kathleen@oakwood-arts.c        author of  Stone Relics
