Visit the Occupied Bank..Ocupat un Banc!

Why have we OCCUPIED a bank?
These are the ultimate expression of capitalism, one of the clearest signals that may be taking profits from the suffering of the majority of the population
Every day, in Spain there are approximately 300 evictions, where banks tend to be those responsible for the evictions of families for non-payment of mortgages. In Barcelona there are thousands of people homeless or living in extreme poverty. On the other hand, just in our neighborhood there are 800 empty flats, and as many other sites continues beyond the residents in the neighborhood.

Per què hem ocupat un banc?
Aquests són la màxima expressió del capitalisme, sent una de les senyals més evidents el fet que puguin estar traient beneficis del patiment de la majoria de la població. Cada dia a l’Estat espanyol hi ha aproximadament uns 300 desnonaments, on els bancs acostumen a ser els responsables dels desnonaments de les famílies per impagament de les hipoteques. A Barcelona hi ha milers de persones sense casa o vivint en extrema pobresa. Com a contrapartida, només en el nostre barri hi ha uns 800 pisos buits, i com a tants altres llocs es segueix fent fora els veïns i veïnes del barri.

What are we doing?
Gradually the activities and workshops are being made (kind of guitar, vegan eatery, etc.). Or are being started (salsa classes, Jiu-Jitsu, etc..), Many people have passed to fix the space or bring things that could be  used (tables, food, books, etc.).. Come and find out what equipment is needed, what activities are being organised or simply to collaborate with the project in the bank and drop a question.

Què estem fent?
Poc a poc són més les activitats i tallers que s’estan realitzant (classe de guitarra, sopadors, etc.) o que estan en procés de començar (classes de salsa, jiu-jitsu, etc.), com molta és la gent que s’ha passat a arreglar l’espai o a portar coses que poguessin servir (taules, menjar, llibres, etc.). Si vols saber què material fa falta, quines activitats s’estan fent o simplement per col·laborar amb el projecte passa’t pel banc i pregunta.

We can be found every day from 17h to 22h or 19h every Thursday at the assembly space.

Barcelona castle an Occupied Social Center

Long abandoned in 2000 the castle  returned to build life as a squatted social center, soon evicted  and left alone again into oblivion. Today we have liberated it..we  have taken back the castle, and now open to create a meeting space, creation, culture, policy debate and dissent against speculation, and capitalism. Desde hace un siglo el castillo encima de la montañas de les planes ha permanecido en desuso, abandonado y detoriorandose, pasando de propietario en propietario sin ninguna intencion visible ya que se inicio como sanatorio nunca llego a ser completado. Durante la guerra civil fue utilizado por la resistencia antifascista como hospital, donde tambien estubo internado George Orwell.

For a century the castle above the mountains of Les Planes has been in disuse, abandoned and detoriorating, from one owner to another without any visible intention as it was started as a sanatorium never to become complete. During the Civil Warit  was used by the anti-fascist resistance as a hospital, where George Orwell was also interned.

Sack the Banks..’Cash transfer Day’ on Nov 5th

November 5 has been designated Bank Transfer Day or Move Your Money day, the day to send the message to the too-big-to-fail Wall Street banks that they have failed us.

But it looks like the tsunami has already begun. The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) says that some 650,000 people have opened credit unions in the past month – more than in all of 2010.

Bank transfer day november 5Customers were livid after Bank of America announced they would introduce a $5 monthly fee for using their debit cards, as a way of keeping their profits high after a new federal law had tried to limit them. But it looks like they’re feeling the heat – earlier this week they scrapped the fee. Other banks have also backed down from planned fees.

“These results indicate that consumers are clearly making a smarter choice by moving to credit unions where, on average, they will save about $70 a year in fewer or no fees, lower rates on loans and higher return on savings.” said Bill Cheney, president and CEO of CU

Japan Times: It is now a “grave situation” at Fukushima — “Plutonium fission” mentioned for first time — “Criticality is very likely to have occurred”

The meltdowns are still out of control. Every day more radioactive ‘Hotspots’ are found, many 100’s of kms away, but latest reports shoe the stations may have GONE CRITICAL AGAIN.

 Nov. 3, 8:30 pm ET      Tepco announced Wednesday that, according to the Times, “There is the possibility that criticality, a sustained nuclear chain reaction, had occurred ‘temporarily’ and ‘locally’ in the No. 2 reactor.”

During it’s testing, Tepco has detected xenon-133 and -135, “Products of uranium or plutonium fission.”

The half life of xenon-135 is about 9 hours, therefore, “Criticality is very likely to have occurred just before the gases were analyzed,” reports the Times.

“Clearly the reactor has not yet been stabilized,” and, according to the Times, “The fact that Tepco cannot deny the possibility of criticality irrespective of its scale is a grave situation.”

And the article notes, “Conditions are similar in the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 reactors.”

Now is the time to get “serious” writes The Times:

  • “Tepco should make serious efforts to accurately grasp the conditions of nuclear fuel inside the reactors.”
  • “Tepco and the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency should take a serious view of the fact that radioactive xenon pointing to criticality was detected from the No. 2 reactor. What happened in it can happen in the Nos. 1 and 3 reactors.”

Now Occupied in Barcelona..Health Center due for closure

Good afternoon Hospitalet !………. . On the 28th it was decided to take over the Health Center  in protest for it being closed down from this weekend. Neighbors have occupied it permanently and expressed their discontent by cuts in health care.

Keep up the fight to strengthen public health in Bellvitge, after the occupation of the Health Clinic, there is a camp called for November 2.  Continue with # tardorcalenta!

  During the weekend talks were carried out, activities, various demonstrations and protests around the neighborhood, as well as meetings daily at 10am and 18pm. Greeks resistance gets referendum.. The 1% in a Panic

Stock markets will be crashing through the floor tomorrow.

The Bankers will be selling out and buying gold

Politicians will be going apoplectic.

Because the heroic Greek resistance has triumphed again! The millions on the streets  is finally paying off

Greece’s government is holding an emergency meeting following a day of turmoil and international pressure triggered by PM George Papandreou’s shock  announcement of a referendum on the proposed EU bailout.

Most likely the Referendum will be defeated ( if it’s not cancelled) and the whole SAVE CAPITALISM deal will fall apart.

And this on top of winning a promise to CANCEL 50% of Greek debts.

These are some of the latest cuts…Further cuts in public sector wages and many bonuses scrapped…Some 30,000 public sector workers suspended,. …Wages cut to 60% and face lay off after a year…Wage bargaining suspended…Monthly pensions above 1,000 euros to be cut 20% above that threshold…Other cuts in pensions and lump-sum retirement pay…Tax-free threshold lowered to 5,000 euros a year from 8,000

Urgente/ Compañero Mono sufre golpiza dentro de la prision!

El día de ayer, viernes 28 de octubre, nuestro compañero Mono, recibió una golpiza por parte de tres funcionarios de Gendarmería.
La situación ocurrió alrededor de las 16:45 de la tarde, Mono se encontraba dormitando en su celda cuando ingresan los bastardos a realizarle un allanamiento. En eso uno de ellos le pregunta si tiene algo de valor, a lo que Cristóbal responde que sí, su dinero. En esto, se acerca uno de los gendarmes y lo increpa, diciéndole que si acaso cree que le van a robar. En ese momento se armó una pequeña discusión y el mono ya estaba siendo golpeado y lanzado por las escaleras.
Sufrió golpes en su cabeza, tórax y extremidades. Permaneció durante un rato inconsciente y se encuentra con vómitos. Los paramédicos de la unidad no le han tomado la atención necesaria y solo le han administrado antiinflamatorios. Luego, lo trasladaron a una jaula de castigo en donde sufrió episodios de taquicardia y problemas respiratorios. Se encuentra completamente incomunicado y sin comida. Pretenden quitarle su próxima visita. Permanecerá castigado ahí con la asquerosa excusa de que le faltó el respeto a la Autoridad.

No podemos permitir esta situación. No permanezcamos indiferentes
A agitar y solidarizar, no puede repetirse esto.
