This is at least the third time it has happened. That a massacre of Kurds has been immediately followed up by a Turkish State attack on Kurds. In this case the ‘Childrens Massacre’ is being used as an obvious pretext to invade Syria. These are the 3 apparent ‘False Flag’ attacks:
- – July 20, 2015, Suruç: 34 Kurdish humanitarian volunteers were killed and about 100 injured in a suicide bombing in the predominantly-Kurdish town of Suruc near the border with Syria. Turkish officials blamed ISIS.
But instead of cracking down on ISIS they immediately began a blitzkrieg persecution of the Kurds themselves who were the victims, resulting in the end of the ceasefire and the whole Peace Process initiated by the Kurdish leader Ocalan, and a wave of Turkish nationalism that boosted Erdogan’s march to supreme dictator. ISIS never claimed the attack.
2. – October 10, 2015: 103 people are killed and more than 500 wounded in twin suicide bombings targeting a pro-Kurdish Peace Rally in Ankara. Again while blaming ISIS the Turkish State unleashed a wave of terror on the Kurdish victims themselves, criminalising the whole Kurdish political and cultural sector, sparking a war with the PKK guerilla volunteers, killing hundreds of civilians and bombing whole cities, like Cizre and Nusaybin into ruins.
Opposition forces blamed the Turkish ‘deep state’, a longstanding network of fascist anti-Kurd military groups
3. –August 20, 2016. At least 53 people, mostly children are slaughtered at a wedding party in Gaziantep near the Syrian border. Again Erdogan blames ISIS (which has never claimed these attacks and only stands to lose from them) but instead of defending the Kurds he attacks them again, shelling the majority Kurd SDF army that has just liberated Manbij from ISIS .
In this way stopping them attacking ISIS in Jarablus (plus again claiming to shell ISIS who have reported no attacks). Kurdish websites are claiming Turkish warplanes from NATO Incirlik base joined in the attacks which could lead to the surreal situation of planes from the same base bombing different sides of the front line..
Moreover Turkish officials have announced that a long prepared Turkish sponsored 1500 man fully equipped ”rebel” army will now invade Syria. Again the stated objective is to attack IS, with the wedding massacre as pretext, when obviously it is to protect IS and their last supply corridor via Jarablus and indulge in more anti Kurd genocide.
Think what you like. We are a little biased in favour of the Rojava Revolution which Erdogan has sworn to annihilate.. the volunteers of the YPG and womens’ YPJ in the multi ethnic SDF, who are the only progressive, (and even feminist) hope in the whole Middle East!
The cynical Turkish mantra is that all things Kurdish are ‘PKK Terrorists’, but they had a permanent ceasefire and advanced peace process with the PKK until Erdogan broke it to boost his personal power.
But biased or not we would be idiots to take Erdogan at his word. Whether he personally gave the order for false flag massacres or not, his anti-Kurd pogroms have legitimised mass murder in Turkey
