Several spokespersons for the Abriendo Fronteras Caravan have read a manifesto calling for the disappearance of Frontex, a European agency to which they attribute systematic human rights violations, participation in deportations, cooperation with third countries and the strengthening of borders.

According to a report by the European Parliament, Frontex has taken a profile in the face of multiple actions contrary to human rights in countries such as Hungary, Croatia or Greece.

In addition, they have denounced that the border policies of the European Union are “inherently racist” and “reinforce colonial and capitalist power structures”, for which they ask “to abolish Frontex and what it represents”.

Un grupo de participantes en la denominada Caravana Abriendo Fronteras ha esparcido esta tarde 150 kilos de estiércol a la entrada de las oficinas que utiliza Frontex en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria para exigir el cierre de la Agencia Europea de Fronteras.

Más de 30 personas han participado de esta iniciativa, que ha tenido lugar a la entrada del Centro de Coordinación Regional de Canarias, el edificio de la Guardia Civil desde donde se centraliza toda la información de que disponen las fuerzas de seguridad españolas sobre el movimiento de pateras y cayucos en esta zona del Atlántico.

Los protagonistas de esta protesta han desplegado ante la puerta principal del centro una alfombra roja que luego han cubierto con excrementos de caballo, mientras mostraban una pancarta con el lema “Frontex, estáis de -estiércol- hasta el cuello”.

Varios portavoces de la Caravana Abriendo Fronteras han leído un manifiesto en el que piden la desaparición de Frontex, agencia europea a la que atribuyen violaciones sistemáticas de los derechos humanos, participación en las deportaciones, cooperación con terceros países y el fortalecimiento de las fronteras. Según un informe del Parlamento Europeo, Frontex se ha puesto de perfil ante múltiples actuaciones contrarias a los derechos humanos de países como Hungría, Croacia o Grecia.

Además, han denunciado que las políticas fronterizas de la Unión Europea son “intrínsecamente racistas” y “refuerzan las estructuras de poder coloniales y capitalistas”, por lo que piden “abolir Frontex y lo que representa”.

También han reclamado regularizar los inmigrantes, acabar con todas las deportaciones, poner fin a las detenciones, acabar con la militarización de las fronteras y con la vigilancia de quienes se desplazan, y potenciar la solidaridad.

Del mismo modo, reclaman poner fin a las políticas que obligan a la gente a migrar, la libertad de circulación para todas las personas y acabar con el régimen fronterizo de la Unión Europea.

Esta protesta se suma al conjunto de acciones que que la Caravana Abriendo Fronteras ha desarrollado este lunes en Gran Canaria, con concentraciones ante el campamento de acogida de inmigrantes Canarias 50, la Base Naval de Las Palmas, las propias oficinas de Frontex (unas horas antes de llenar su entrada de estiércol) y continuará en el CIE Barranco Seco y la Delegación del Gobierno.

En la primera de las acciones han colgado de la fachada de este mismo centro los nombres de las 40.555 personas que han fallecido intentando llegar a Europa, que incluye los muertos ahogados en trayectos en patera, muertos a disparos de las fuerzas de seguridad fronteriza de diferentes países, detenidos, torturados o que se han suicidado tras la deportación.

También han advertido que la Unión Europea ha incrementado el presupuesto del Frontex desde 2005, y entre 2021 y 2027 se reservaron 5.600 millones para la agencia. Además, alertan de que ha crecido el número de guardas fronterizos y que está previsto lleguen a los 10.000 efectivos en 2027.
