The CEO of Pfizer has tested positive for Covid-19, he revealed in a series of tweets on Monday. The drug giant’s chief executive added that he was taking his company’s antiviral, Paxlovid, slipping in some free advertising for the pill which rarely works despite obscene price.
“We have come so far in our efforts to battle this disease that I am confident I will have a speedy recovery,” Albert Bourla tweeted, praising his employees for their efforts.
While Paxlovid was approved last month on an emergency-use basis to treat vaccinated individuals with Covid-19 symptoms, Pfizer’s own data warns its ability to fight the virus in vaccinated patients is negligible at best.
Oxfam last year estimated that Pfizer and Moderna were billing governments as much as $41 billion more than the vaccines cost to produce.
The Centers for Disease Control issued a warning in May about the possibility of rebound symptoms following a course of treatment with the antiviral, and several prominent Paxlovid recipients have experienced such symptoms, including US President Joe Biden and chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci.

Between the sales of its mRNA-based vaccine and the new antivirals, Pfizer’s profits have reached unprecedented highs this quarter. The company reported $9.91 billion in earnings for the second quarter of 2022 and expects to sell $32 billion in vaccine doses and $22 billion in Paxlovid this year.

Ambulances in England are taking almost an hour to reach patients who have had a suspected stroke or heart attack, more than three times the 18-minute maximum wait, the latest NHS data shows. When people call 999 they can no longer be confident that they will get the emergency care they need.

The following chart is taken from the UK Health Security Agency’s ‘Ambulance Syndromic Surveillance System – Week 30′ bulletin, and it shows the daily number of 999 calls requesting an ambulance due to suffering cardiac arrest in England vs the expected rate (black dotted line).
The daily number of calls has been way above average since at least August 2021.
The National Health Service (NHS) has also confirmed in response to a freedom of information request that ambulance call-outs relating to immediate care required for a debilitating condition affecting the heart nearly doubled in the whole of 2021 and are still on the rise further in 2022.

WORLD, Aug. 14 (YPA) – The Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukrainian forces continue to bombard Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power Plant with GMLRS missiles from US missile launchers HIMARS.
In its statement, the ministry noted that Ukrainian forces bombed the plant with these US missiles again on August 12, which caused the suspension of the work of three of the six turbines at the hydroelectric power plant.
The statement stressed that the suspension of the work of the three turbines, made the plant operate in pre-emergency mode.
“The disruptions in power generation and water discharge systems may disrupt the operation of the interconnected power system and negatively affect the cooling of the reactors of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power facility, which will negatively affect the electrical power supply system including to areas currently under the control of the Kiev authorities,” according to the statement .
The statement stressed that the malfunction in the work of the unified electrical system could lead to an environmental disaster in the whole region.
The Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station is a run-of-river power plant on the Dnieper River in Nova Kakhovka, Ukraine.
