Juntament amb la plataforma Boicot ICL, el moviment Revoltes de la Terra ha convocat una protesta amb acampada, tal com va fer fa un any a Mont-roig del Camp conta els plans de construcció d’una fàbrica de bateries elèctriques de la firma Lotte. En aliança amb altres moviments de la comarca i organitzacions de solidaritat amb Palestina, volen denunciar l’impacte mediambiental de la seva activitat sobre el riu Llobregat i pels seus vincles amb el genocidi del poble palestí.
L’objectiu final de la mobilització és “fer fora la multinacional ICL del territori” per aturar “l’enverinament del riu Llobregat” i posar fi a “la complicitat empresarial i política catalana amb el genocidi del poble palestí”. L’impacte mediambiental ja va ser reconegut el 2015 als tribunals. La sentència, que condemnava directius i la mateixa empresa, reconeixia que la gestió de les mines de Sallent havia provocat la salinització de rius, pous, fonts, torrents i aqüífers de tot el Bages. L’acumulació de residus salins derivats de la mineria també ha afectat la ramaderia i l’agricultura.
La contaminació
Durant anys ICL ha topat amb l’oposició dels moviments ecologistes, agraris i del veïnat crític del Bages, i ha acumulat denúncies, polèmiques i sancions. Segons les investigacions de Boicot ICL, “els runams salins de la conca potàssica del Bages són muntanyes de sal formades principalment per sal comuna, descartada en el procés d’obtenció de la potassa. A part de la transformació del paisatge natural que suposen, aquestes muntanyes desprenen aigua salada per la humitat i quan plou l’aigua salinitzada cau muntanya avall”.
Així mateix, des de Boicot ICL assenyalen que l’empresa utilitza “la potassa per fabricar més de cent fertilitzants agraris, la gran majoria dels quals no són aptes per l’agricultura ecològica”. Aquests, diu l’organització “contribueixen al model agrari de l’agroindústria i empobreixen el sòl agrícola fins al perill de la desertització”.
Els vincles amb l’Estat d’Israel
La multinacional és la sisena empresa més gran de potassa a escala mundial. L’any 2023, ICL va facturar 320 milions d’euros a l’Estat espanyol, situant-se com l’empresa que més factura del Bages. Al mateix temps, apunten des de Boicot ICL, es tractaria d’una societat mercantil estratègica per a “l’economia de l’Estat d’Israel i en àrees del Mar Mort i de la zona del Nègueb, territori ocupat al sud de la Franja de Gaza, explota mines de potassa i fosfats, que han estat denunciades per contaminació ambiental”.
A més, segons el Grup Català d’Empresa i Drets Humans, l’Estat d’Israel tindria un control directe de la companyia amb l’anomenada “acció d’or” d’Israel Corporation, que li permet intervenir en la presa de decisions si són d’interès especial. A més, compta amb accionistes i directius amb un vincle directe amb la indústria militar israeliana. En nombroses campanyes, el moviment internacional Boicot, Desinversions i Sancions (BDS) ha ICL pels seus programes de suport a unitats de l’exèrcit israelià.
