1000’s saltan los peajes/ 1000’s Jump Road Tolls

‘I won`t pay, anti toll campaign

The second protest against the price of tolls ends with 3,087 complaints in Catalunya

Thousands of drivers have supported the protest against the price of tolls. The initiative, promoted by groups # novullpagar and I do not pay, was seconded in Catalonia, Valencia and Madrid Country.
For the group # novullpagar (I do not pay) that of “second parts are never good” has not been fulfilled. Today, thousands of drivers have supported the protest against the price of tolls, which was to go through them without paying a single euro on the grounds that the roads used to transport enough already retired.
The call was announced, with the cooperation of the platform I do not pay-to encourage those who circulate through Spanish roads, but although there were also withheld in the Valencian Country and Madrid, Catalonia where he was more successful.

Thus, there have been major bottlenecks tolls Vilassar de Mar, where the retention of vehicles came to occupy four miles, and Martorell (Barcelona). Although, according to Efe said the organizers, there were also boycott against South tolls Girona, Mollet and Garraf, which showed “little retention and collapse, despite the orders of the concessionaire Abertis to pass quickly to the people.”

In the end, according to Abertis, the day ended with 3,087 complaints for nonpayment. “Offenders” shall pay a fine of 100 euros, plus the possible administrative penalty the company to claim back the amount not paid.

However, of the 16,000 complaints of default which, until last Thursday, had received the Catalan Traffic Service toll dealerships, only 1,291 have been processed. Still, the platform # novullpagar asked the government “to stop debt collection agencies make Abertis” and “not to pursue or threaten citizens attached to the campaign.”

Although, as that service, monitoring the protest was much lower (almost 50% less) than last May 1, the platform convenor disagrees. “The Catalan people have answered again representing abuse tolls in Catalonia”, sentenced.

“Thousands of vehicles have collapsed at 12:00 pm the main tolls and the wave of demonstrations to 18:00 h was even more crowded,” they said.

Another objective of the group is calling on all political parties to support the abolition of tolls Act introduced in Parliament by Catalan Solidarity per Independence.

After the good response to the mobilization of 12:00, organizers have said # novullpagar have signed up another goal in the second protest of the day, convened at 18:00, qualifying for success.

After the day, the Platform # novullpagar Prou Peatges feel entitled to urge the Govern in their demands and ask him to stop “threatening” to citizens who choose not to pay tolls.

Police and media send OCCUPY underground

What happened to the Occupy movement?

Although media coverage has dwindled, Occupy cells are alive and well all over the United States – and beyond.
Occupy Wall Street was at the pinnacle of its power in October 2011, when thousands of people converged at Zuccotti Park and successfully foiled the plans of billionaire Mayor Michael Bloombergto sweep away the occupation on grounds of public health. From that vantage point, the Occupy movement appears to have tumbled off a cliff, having failed to organise anything like a general strike on May Day – despite months of rumblings of mass walkouts, blockades and shutdowns…………

“Compared to a year ago, the level of activity is amazing today. There is a whole new generation of high school and college students being radicalised.”

Others note that protests did take place in more than 110 cities on May Day in recognition of worker resistance and solidarity, no mean feat given the hostility to labour among the ruling elite i the US. Continue reading “Police and media send OCCUPY underground”

5th May..Climate impact day..Connecting the dots..

inShare1 print

Freak weather is not climate change… up to a point..when it suddenly becomes clear fromn all the evidnce, that runaway climate change is happening.

Finally we can join up the dots.

Thousands worldwide to “connect the dots” between climate change and extreme weather this weekend Anyone and everyone can participate in this day.

Many of us do not live in Texas, the Philippines, or Ethiopia — places deeply affected by climate impacts. For those communities, there are countless ways to stand in solidarity with those on the front-lines of the climate crisis: some people will giving presentations in their communities about how to connect the dots.

Others will do projects to demonstrate what sorts of climate impacts we can expect if the crisis is left unchecked. And still others of us will express our indignation to local media and politicians for failing to connect the dots in their coverage of “natural disasters.”
