This Browser Plug-In Lets You Resist Fascism on the Internet

31st July 2018  We just checked and the No Platform for Fascism Tool Kit, seems to be unavailable on Firefox , at least here in Spain. Doesn’t appear on search.

But it may still exist for those who already have it installed, we relaunched Firefox and lost it.

On Chrome you can still install it with this link..Chrome. but it also doesnt appear in the search list.

Hopefully Antifa heroes MACC can update access to this excellent anti fascist tool on Firefox!

 

 Help remove far-right propaganda from YouTube with this extension for Chrome and Firefox

by  Arvind Dilawar      YouTube has long been acknowledged as, well, not exactly the friendliest place on the Internet. But as the far right has ascended in the wake of Donald Trump’s election, many critics have accused the video-sharing website of being much worse than a playground for trolls; they believe that YouTube is an avenue for radicalization and recruitment.

Following complaints that the site’s search algorithm was only thinly veiling caches of hateful propaganda, YouTube decided to exclude some users from monetizing their content. But while the site is no longer paying extremists, it is still very much hosting them.

 The Metropolitan Anarchist Coordinating Council, an organization facilitating collaboration between New York City-based anarchists, believes that the far right must be fought on every front.

Accordingly, MACC recently released the No Platform for Fascism Tool Kit, a browser plug-in for both Chrome and Firefox, which each week serves users videos from neo-Nazi, white supremacist, and ethno-nationalist individuals and organizations to report.

Anarchists clashed with cops during the march against police brutality. This was the 22nd installment of the march — and along with MayDay, it’s consistently one of the most militant demonstrations that takes place in the Canadian city each year.


People attacked the cops with flag poles and fire extinguishers filled with paint. Corporate stores and banks had their windows smashed, but the police managed to protect the studios of TVA – a right-wing TV network that published a fake news story that stoked anti-Muslim sentiments in Quebec City.The police violently charged at the crowd, seriously injuring one person and arresting three. Three cops were also injured.

Week of Solidarity Action for Anarchists persecuted in Russia,

   

The next action solidarity week is/was March 11 to 18th,

Barring accidents voters in Russia will elect Putin again. Just when Turkey is invading and slaughtering people in Afrin, Syria, with Putins personal permission. With just one word ..NYET .. Putin could cancel the Fly Permission as he did before when Turkey shot down a Russian plane, and Erdogan’s invasion would grind to a halt.

Now for gas pipelines and arms deals Russia lets the Turkish Hitler Erdogan indulge in genocide to boost his personal powers. But what a vile bastard is Putin, bathing in mass nationalist adulation, when with just one word he could STOP the massacre of a people and their brilliant revolution.

Russian security service have started mass repressions against all the dissenters with the regime, exerting unprecedented pressure for every dissident from liberal opposition movements to the anarchists.

Federal Security Service (FSB) conducted a series of arrests and raids on the homes of known anarchists and antifascists in Autumn, 2017.

Six anarchists from Penza were arrested and charged with preparation of a coup d’etat. The only evidence of “preparation” was the fact that all the detainees had played airsoft. During several months the detainees were exposed to everyday tortures, until they pleaded  guilty.

Two anarchists were arrested in Saint Petersburg in January 2018. They also were exposed to the same tortures as Penza anarchists. Officers made them learn the confession and repeat it to the  investigator.

One of the kidnapped anarchists, Victor Filinkov, was taken to a forest where he was tortured. Ilya Kapustin was also arrested and exposed to racks, he did not make a confession, so they nominated him  a “witness”.

When #Afrin falls it will be too late! .. Direct Action Resistance Called against Fascism

For more than 6 weeks we have had to watch the Turkish state attack and occupy, together with Islamist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaida, Afrin, the most western canton of Rojava. In this extermination campaign, the invaders are neither deterred by the deliberate bombardment of civilians nor by the use of chemical weapons. 

The Islamist mercenaries and fascist Turkish soldiers leave a trail of devastation, plunder, rape and murder, they practice an ethnic cleansing of the territory of Kurds. So far, more than 300 civilians and many militants have given their lives, dozens of villages have been destroyed and hundreds of thousands of people have had to leave their homes.

Despite the determined resistance of Afrin’s people and their YPG / YPJ / SDF defense units, the Turkish army manages to gain more ground every day. While the Turkish offensive was stuck in the border area of the canton for the first month, in recent days important small towns such as Raco and Shera have been conquered by the invaders. Their destination is Afrin City, the place where civilians have fled the villages and small towns they have conquered so far.

This is made possible by the massive use of modern NATO technology such as fighter jets, artillery, tanks and drones. The fascist-Islamist war of aggression against Afrin is not only Erdogan’s attempt to destroy the Kurdish freedom movement;

While Russia opens the door to the Turkish Air Force and the Syrian Assad regime is de facto inactive, NATO actively supports this war with intelligence information, military technology, weapons and ammunition from Western factories.

The hypocritical messages from the palaces of power can not hide the fact that this war is nothing but the reckoning of the rulers with the revolution of Rojava. It is a reckoning with the attempt to counter the capitalist system with a self-determined alternative of radical democracy, women’s liberation, real gender equality, and social ecology.

Every day, before leaving the house, Milan zips his jacket all the way up to his chin. He puts on his sunglasses, hat and earphones with the volume cranked up to the max and walks to a language class.

“People can barely see my face that way, and I can barely hear what is happening around me. I go to class, and then sometimes I meet with the social worker or go to the doctor. Then I have something to eat and set off to walk around the city until I’m so exhausted I can barely walk. Only then do I go home,” Milan says, adding that the thing he is most afraid of is closing his eyes and not being able to fall asleep.

Azerbaijan authorities arrest dozens of LGBTQ people

“This is why I prefer to come home so tired that I literally pass out. Otherwise, every time I close my eyes, I feel the cold concrete floor against my stomach, I can taste the blood on my tongue, hear the shouting of the guards and see those smeared walls.”

Almost a year after Russia’s Novaya Gazeta broke horrific accounts of the roundups and severe torture that gay men were subjected to in Chechnya (the exact number of deaths remains unknown), the crisis is far from over.

Though many gay men in Chechnya, like Milan, fled abroad with the help of Russian LGBT rights defenders, they still have to hide their real identities and locations to prevent possible harassment from the Chechen intelligence — just like in Chechnya.

Over the summer of 2017, reports of similar crimes across the North Caucasus increased, and in September, reports of similar roundups, humiliation and torture against LGBT people (who allegedly had STDs and were involved in sex work) emerged from Azerbaijan — and in October, Tajikistan created a registry of LGBT citizens after police conducted operations to identity them.

While each crisis had its specifics, they all were used by the authorities to demonstrate their ability to crush any vulnerable community in an atmosphere of impunity, as well as to divert attention from other issues and extort money from the victims.

Dozens of Festivals invite jailed anti-royal Rapper Valtonyc to Perform

More than 200 artists and personalities linked to the world of culture have joined a manifesto in support of rapper Josep Miquel Arenas, known as Valtonyc, after the Supreme Court has confirmed the sentence of three and a half years in prison, to ask his “total and complete absolution”.

Valtonyc has now been invited to more than 20 Catalan festivals in protest for the condemnation of the “Supreme” Court.
The main festivals of the Països Catalans (includes Valencia, Baleares ..) are in solidarity with the Mallorcan and include  him in the programming of their next editions, opening the way for a huge freedom campaign when he cannot appear. Included is the most popular Catalan Festival Primavera Sound de Barcelona.

The ”Spanish” Borbon King was appointed by the fascist dictator Francisco Franco after murdering hundreds of thousands of people to seize power for the far right and the church and hold it, with western collaboration, for forty years.

King Juan Carlos abdicated in favour of his son, supposedly for health reasons, but amid a cloud of scandal and derision, due to the prosecution of family members for corruption, elephant hunting while honorary president of the World Wildlife Fund, etc. etc. Now the Supreme Court (appointed via the corrupt right wing rulers)  demands a return to unquestioned obedience.

Writers’ group PEN Català‏ also criticised the decision saying that it “proves Spanish Gag Law is a serious attack on freedom of expression”. In a statement the group also said that it was “also concerned about the ‘chilling effect’ of this law on artistic expression”.

The second charge against Valtonyc’s lyrics was ‘glorification of terrorism’ in praising the historical terrorist groups ETA and GRAPO for their anti-fascism, etc. It is still taboo to tell the other side of the story.  It was ETA who unilaterally who finally laid down their arms . The Spanish State has always claimed a monopoly on violence and terror, even employing its own death squads against ETA and prohibiting Basque parties, newspapers, demos etc to this day, refusing all amnesty and reconciliation.

As in Turkey today the far right needs a convenient enemy to unite its rabid supporters, be it Kurds, Basques, Catalans or in this case rebellious artists.

Tabarnia: A not-so-funny Joke on Catalan Democracy

At first sight the Imaginary Kingdom of Tabarnia may be funny and subversive, (of course there’s less support for Independence on the industrial Catalan coast due to ”immigration” from other parts). But at second glance it’s another maneuver by the far right to sabotage the relatively progressive independence movement.

The December 21 election in Catalonia produced some striking results and accentuated the deepening polarisation in the region. In the middle of what the pro-independence camp called a “Spanish occupation”, with the region’s autonomy practically repealed, the Catalan President Carles Puigdemont forced into self-exile in Belgium and some Catalan legislators sent to prison, those who support Catalonia’s independence from Spain still managed to maintain a slim majority in the regional parliament after the snap election.

The leaders of the ”winning”  Ciutadans’party have been exposed as prominent fascists who received huge financial support from the far right central government
