On the German territory alone students will go on strike in more than 50 cities on Friday January 18. The school strikes for climate justice were started by 16 year old Greta Thunberg last year.

Is it an anarchist movement.? .. No its not, but many of the school strikes are self-organized and there are many cities where young anarchists are involved in the school strikes. The movement for climate justice is growing fast, many young people are getting active because they see that the “traditional” political system is not acting against climate change. The Zapatista National Liberation Army (Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional, EZLN) has said that it would not permit President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s Maya Train project of death and dirty tricks to happen.
It described López Obrador as “crazy” and “crafty,” and therefore, it said, it will defend what it has constructed in the past 25 years.
On Monday, López Obrador arrived in Villahermosa to attend the swearing-in of Adán Augusto López as governor of Tabasco. Upon asking him about the resistance announced by the EZLN to some of his projects, he answered: “They are within their rights, how good that they are going to do it, and many congratulations to everyone.”
In the voice of Subcomandante Moisés, during an event held in the community of La Realidad, municipality of Las Margaritas, in the Lacandón Jungle, the EZLN stated: “Think about how crazy it is that he says he is going to govern for rich and poor. Only a crazy person that is sick in the head can say that; his mind doesn’t work, he is braindead (…).
“He doesn’t know nor understand what he’s saying, and he doesn’t understand because his boss dictates to him what he has to say. It’s simple: you can’t support the exploited and the exploiter, you have to choose one of the two,” he said.
The EZLN criticized, without mentioning him by name, that Lopez Obrador “is very tricky, because (he says) that he is with the people of Mexico and continues deceiving the original peoples, demonstrating that he thrusts himself on the land asking for permission and saying that all the original peoples believe him, but we say that we don’t believe him.”

Upon referring to the ceremony held on December 1 in Mexico City’s Zócalo, where López Obrador received the staff of command from the indigenous peoples, the EZLN expressed: “Only because Mother Earth doesn’t speak, if she did she would say: fuck your mother; she would say: go to hell!”
In the context of the 25th anniversary of the January 1, 1994 Zapatista Uprising, he added: “We’re not going to allow them to come to destroy us,” and he warned: “We’re not afraid of their Nacional Guard, which changed their name in order to not say Army, but they are the same.”
He maintained that López Obrador “is going to destroy the people of Mexico, but principally the original peoples; they’re coming for us, especially for the EZLN.” He reiterated that they are not afraid of the new federal government. “We’re going to fight and we’re going to confront it.”
He remarked: “They’re coming for us, the original peoples. The consulta (vote) that they make is to manipulate the people. They are asking permission to attack us with votes. They are consulting so that they can come to confront us with that dirty trick of the Maya Train” (Tren Maya),” but “if they provoke us, we are going to defend ourselves. We’re not going to allow anyone to come to establish themselves in this territory in rebellion.”
He asserted that the so-called Fourth Transformation “is nothing of a fourth. Those of the third confronted him with facts. (López Obrador) says, for example, that he is going to forgive all the criminals. Like the one who says that he won’t do anything to the murderers of our Compañero Galeano,” murdered in the community of La Realidad in May 2014.

San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chis., El Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) afirmó que no permitirá que pase el proyecto de muerte y porquería del Tren Maya del presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador, a quien calificó de loco y mañoso, por lo que, dijo, defenderá lo que ha construido en los pasados 25 años.
El lunes, López Obrador llegó a Villahermosa para asistir a la toma de protesta de Adán Augusto López como gobernador de Tabasco. Al preguntarle sobre la resistencia anunciada por el EZLN a algunos de sus proyectos, respondió: Están en su derecho, qué bueno que lo van a hacer, y muchas felicidades a todas y todos.

No sabe ni entiende lo que está diciendo, y no lo entiende porque su patrón le dicta lo que tiene que decir. Es sencillo: no se puede apoyar al explotado y al exolotador, se tiene que escoger a uno de los dos, expuso.

A series of “micro-seismic events” in Blackpool were recorded on the British Geological Survey website following hydraulic fracturing at the site at Preston New Road, Cuadrilla said.
The biggest of the tremors, which was felt in Blackpool, was 1.5 local magnitude, and is the largest recorded since drilling for shale gas began in Lancashire on October 15.
It occurred at about 11.20am, after fracking had finished for the day, according to Cuadrilla, which said in a statement that fracking will not continue for 18 hours as a result.

The signs are currently looking good in England, where the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement has appeared out of nowhere and mobilised thousands of people to block streets and engage in civil disobedience.
The first big day of action was on Saturday November 17, when some 6,000 people took to the streets of London.
They blocked five London bridges and planted trees on Parliament Square. More than 80 people were arrested.
Said Gail Bradbrook of XR: “This is an act of mass civil disobedience. This is the start of an international rebellion protesting the lack of action on the ecological crisis”.
There were swarming road blocks across London in the run-up to Rebellion Day 2, announced for Saturday November 24, 10am to 5pm at Parliament Square.

We interviewed William Hederman, an environmental researcher living in County Clare, about the planned Liquefied Natural Gas terminal on the Shannon. Construction of it will mean Ireland will fail to meet its Climate Change commitments and will instead be tied into pumping out additional Greenhouse Gases for decades.
As the LNG will come from the US it will includes fracked gas, a process banned in Ireland that releases three times as much of the very powerful Climate Change gas methane as conventional gas. [video]
William is working as part of Futureproof Clare (FB, Twitter) who are campaigning against Shannon LNG. The plant would be on the Shannon estuary at Ballylongford, in North Kerry.
Extinction Rebellion solidarity rally in Dublin

Dublin saw a few 100 people gather last Saturday to take part in a rally in solidarity with Extinction Rebellion, the group which has recently emerged in Britian and which yesterday occupied 5 bridges across the Thames, blocking them for about 4 hours and resulting in large numbers of arrests. This act of Civil Disobediance is in the context of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report that says we have only a decade to reduce emmissions by about 45% in order to try and keep Climate Change down to a 1.5 degree centagrade increase in global tempertures. In Ireland we have a particular problem with the plan to construct a Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in the Shannon that would import Fracking gas from the United States and would result in considerable release of greenhouse gases for the next couple of decades, well past that UN deadline. It sounds like science fiction but the Finnish company Solar Foods has already produced food with just water , electricity, the CO2 from air and trace chemicals. For starters this COULD in theory replace all animal feed with a cheaper, local, substitute, releasing 76% of arable land for forests or whatever, and abolishing world hunger.
The possibilities of Solar Food are endless, it looks like the ‘technical fix’ that could save the planet from runaway ecocide.
But as with all such promises it’s predator capitalism that rules, if we let it. Perhaps Exxon, Bayer or Nestlé will buy up and bury the patents. And one of the first initiatives of the Solar Foods company is .. not to attack world hunger but to develop food growing technology on Mars!
