he fairy tale that nuclear weapons provide state security is a fiction believed by millions. On July 17, five of us proved that state guarantees of “highly secure” nuclear weapon facilities are just as fictitious.

After nightfall, an international group of five peace activists, me included, got deep inside the Büchel Air Base here, and for the first time in a 21-year long series of protests against its deployment of US nuclear bombs, we occupied the top of one of the large bunkers potentially used for storing nuclear weapons.

United Nations Votes to Adopt Legally Binding Nuclear Ban Treaty

The US still deploys up to 20 B61 gravity bombs at the air base and German pilots train to use them in war from their Tornado jet fighter bombers.

After hiking along shadowy farm roads, shushing through a dark row of tall corn, clipping through the base’s outer fence, crossing a brightly lit air base road, and tramping noisily through a few wooded brambles, our small group cut through a second chain-link fence, bumbled past a giant hanger and under the wing of a jet fighter bomber, and reached a double-fence surrounding the broad, earth- bermed bunkers. Catalonia and Spain set for Head-On Collision over Right to a Referendum

All modern Nation States have quickly become repressive extortionist mafias claiming a 100% control of violence over their subjects.

Does anyone here care if there are 28 or 29 states in the EU?

Yes, for sure. The Catalans, for example,  say their language and culture have been brutally repressed and their wallets robbed by the Spanish State for 300 years.

As if to prove the Catalans right the Rajoy Government has banned any Referendum. prosecuted anyone  trying to organise it, refused to pay over legally agreed funds and uses its controlled Supreme Court to annul anything resembling Catalan rights and initiatives, from refugees to banning bullfighting.

Yet even the ‘left wing’ politicians, the socialists and Podemos in Madrid, anxious for a bigger slice of the coalition pie,  are now supporting State repression against Catalonia. The exception being the SAT union in Andalusia which offers to provide ballot boxes for Catalans living there.

This week the PP government have upped the rhetoric a notch by announcing that the planned Referendum on Oct 1st is an attempted Coup D’Etat, thus preparing the ground for mass arrests, takeover of the police force, suspension of the Catalan Parliament and possible army intervention.

“Like a mad bull in a china shop” the far-right and ultra corrupt minority government continues its criminal campaign of clinging to power by whipping up obscene racist anti Catalan hysteria. Continue reading “Catalonia and Spain set for Head-On Collision over Right to a Referendum”

Road to Revolution: The Barcelona Rent Strike of 1931.

A look at how the Barcelona rent strike of 1931 prepared the ground for the revolution of 1936.

by Dermot Sreenan    The Barcelona Rent Strike of 1931 not only served to reduce rent costs for working class families but was also an education in self-organisation for thousands of workers. It, along with other struggles in those years, created an organised working class that in 1936 made the most successful attempt yet to overthrow capitalism and create libertarian communism.

The CNT was an illegal organisation during the 1920’s and thus many members had been reduced to the role of passive spectators as dedicated militants battled with the police and pistoleros. The dictator, Primo de Rivera, had fallen in 1930 and the new government (who declared a republic in ’31) let the CNT re-emerge.

As anarchists, the CNT wished to widen the union into a real participatory social movement. To do this they had to broaden its realm of influence. They knew that only via mass organisation, participation and struggle could the foundations be laid so that people would acquire the skills to construct a new society. Anarcha-Feminism.. by Flick Ruby..’real anarchists are always feminist’

For too long anarcha feminists have been labeled as the ladies auxiliary of male bomb throwers. The misconception and manipulation of both feminists and anarchist principles and practice have resulted in the use of sensationalist and ridiculing tactics by the state and its spokespeople.

This has not only polarised the general populace from potentially liberation concepts but has also polarised anarchist from feminists. In the past and more so recently there has been a uniting of these beliefs and Peggy Kornegger’s book; ‘Anarchism; the Feminist Connection’ goes so far as to say that the two genres of thought are inextricably tied although the connection has not been consciously articulated by feminists very often.

Kornegger argues that feminism “emphasis on the small group as a basic organisational unit, on the personal and political, on anti- authoritarianism and on spontaneous direct action was essentially anarchism.

I believe that this puts women in a unique position of being the bearers of a subsurface anarchist consciousness which if articulated and concretised can take us further than any previous group toward the achievement of total revolution.Image result for anarchist feminist

While anarchism has provided a framework for the transformation required, for far too long even this revolutionary ideology has been largely male identified; male articulated, male targeted and male exclusive in both its language and participation. It has therefore been unfortunately lacking in vital analysis especially with regard to the psychological and physical realities of oppression experienced by the majority of the human population: women. Accidental Anarchist..(watch full docu) Ex diplomat on Why he Changed his Mind

Ten Steps To Anarchism

I used to believe in “the system”: the political and economic structure of what we might call western democracy and capitalism. I worked for it: for many years, I was a diplomat for my country. I resigned from government over the Iraq war.

I began a political journey. I no longer believed in the system I represented. But what would work instead? To my great surprise, I came to think that anarchism is the answer. I never thought I would believe such radical ideas.

TRAILER..2 minutes

But now I think it’s the only political philosophy that makes sense for today’s world, and the crazy ones are those who think that the current system will save us.

Full Documentary  23 July 17.. 1 hour

But why, and what is anarchism? These 10 steps can explain:

1. No one feels they have control over the things that matter to them: locally or nationally, let alone internationally. This frustration helps explain Brexit and Trump and the divisiveness and volatility of politics today. “A strong hug to all the comrades” letter from anarchist G20 Prisoner

Hamburg – A letter from anarchist prisoner Riccardo, arrested during the G20 (20/07/2017)

by actforfreedom |        We are spreading news of the arrest of a comrade from Genoa, Riccardo, on Friday 7th July in Hamburg during the revolt against the G20. Riccardo has seen his lawyers, is doing well and his spirits are high. On18/07 a hearing confirmed that Riccardo and all those arrested be remanded in custody. In 15 days an appeal trial will be held to decide if imprisonment is to be continued until the trial. The charges haven’t been formulated yet.

We reconfirm our solidarity with all those arrested in Hamburg.       Freedom for all!

At the moment I am being detained in the prison of Billwerder in Hamburg. I was arrested on Friday 7th July at 7:30pm near Rote Flora.

I am accused of insulting the State, endangering public security, of having played an active part in a group of fifteen people who challenged the police, in particular attempting to harm a policeman of the Special Unit of Bloomberg intent on carrying out arrests and finding evidence.

I don’t recognize the dichotomy ‘guilty-not guilty’ proposed by the State’s judicial apparatus.Related image

What I want to say is that I’m proud and happy to have been there in Hamburg during the uprising against the G20. The joy of experiencing in person the determination of people of all ages from all over the world who haven’t yet given in to the temptation to submit to the logic of money and the capitalist world; this can never be quelled by any form of imprisonment. US Pushing Civil War on Venezuela for Oil Control

After 18 years of subversion, infiltration, coercion, bribery and a constant blitz of fake news the US is pushing Venezuela into a horrific civil war in order to take control of its oil.

Every day we can see images of the police and state thugs beating up innocent students and read Fox News reports like.. “”there is no toilet paper or meat there, the currency is worthless, the murder rate is perhaps the highest in the world, the Supreme Court has tried to abolish the entire legislature for daring to oppose a dictator who’s running the place into the ground, and you can go on and on and on, it is a disaster there in Venezuela.”

Solidaridad. Manifestación de apoyo a Venezuela en Las Palmas

Of course the socialist government is corrupt and repressive, but it still controls its own oil and distributes a huge share to give food jobs, housing and education and health to all.

By now, with the cuts due to the oil price collapse, the entire middle class seem in the media to be protesting daily against the government, but they are still the minority and  like us they are taken in by constant fake news .

Canadians Rally in Support of Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution

”The rich want lower taxes, and ending social programs for the have-nots, and they want the privatization of vital government enterprises so that they can loot the country, as is happening right now in Brazil. And most of all, they want the privatization of the oil in their hands. They want to be billionaire oligarchs just like oligarchs in other oil-rich countries.Related image‘This Fight Is Ours’: Venezuela Women March Against Imperialism.

The have-nots, workers, unemployed, women, indigenous, blacks … still support the government. They want the government to keep control of the oil for the benefit of the people, the have-nots. They are in the streets too, they are supporting the government, and they are being violently attacked by the hoodlums of the haves and the mercenaries for the U.S. Empire.
