How the IMF & World Bank Destroyed Yemen

from: thefreeonline – note. We republish here as this begins to reveal the until now taboo of how the US controlled IMF/World Bank and the UN set up the starvation of Yemen to help the Saudis in a long colonial, religious and genocidal war and blockade, dirccted by the USA to cement Saudi relations, secure a new $100 billion arms deal,…

According to a 2009 report by the World Bank, Yemen has “world-class deposits” of gold, and the World Bank is “surprised” that the country hasn’t been mined much for gold. Al Hariqah gold mine in Hajjah, Yemen, has proven gold deposits worth over 5 billion at today’s gold prices and could produce 200,000 ounces annually. […]

Elizabeth Swann: Captain Barbossa, I am here to negotiate the cessation of hostilities against Port Royal.
Captain Barbossa: There are a lot of long words in there, Miss; we’re naught but humble pirates. What is it that you want?
Elizabeth: I want you to leave and never come back.
Barbossa: I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request.
Elizabeth:[stares at him in shock]
Barbossa: Means “no.”

Sesquipedalian: A long word, or characterized by the use of long words. From the Latin roots meaning “a foot-and-a-half long.”

Loquaciousness: That would be garrulousness, verboseness, effusiveness. How about “chattiness”?

A predilection by the intelligentsia to engage in the manifestation of prolix exposition through a buzzword disposition form of communication notwithstanding the availability of more comprehensible, punctiliously applicable, diminutive alternatives

. Also known as “gross verbosity”. Related to this is the use of inkhorn terms, loanwords from a foreign origin that are pretentious to an average speaker.

In brief: “smart” characters using long words when short ones would be better, especially when they are also motor mouths.

US vows to send more drones, aid to Ukraine on war’s anniversary

The Pentagon announced Friday morning it would send more drones to Ukraine as part of a new $2 billion package…

The new $2 billion in aid includes more ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, more ammunition for 155mm artillery and more munitions for unspecified laser-guided rocket systems. It also includes unspecified counter-drone and electronic warfare detection equipment.

The Pentagon plans to contract for the gear under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which allows the Biden administration to buy weapons from industry rather than draw from U.S. weapon supplies.

The funds would go toward the purchase of a new weapon for Ukraine: the Altius 600, a small drone with a range of 276 miles and endurance of more than 4 hours. The manufacturer, Anduril subsidiary Area-I, has said the system can operate…

Russia sends Soyuz ship to Space Station to rescue US and Russian astronauts after meteorite hit

Space has remained a rare venue of cooperation between Moscow and Washington since the start of the Russian war in Ukraine and ensuing Western sanctions on Russia and arming of Ukraine.

Soyuz MS-23 will transport Russian cosmonauts Dmitry Petelin, Sergei Prokopyev and NASA’s Frank Rubio back to Earth later this year.

Russia has launched an uncrewed Soyuz spacecraft on a rescue mission to return two cosmonauts and a NASA astronaut whose trip back to Earth has been hampered after their original space vehicle was damaged by a mini meteorite while parked at the International Space Station (ISS).

The Soyuz MS-23 vessel blasted off successfully from the Russian-operated Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Friday, live video broadcast by ISS partner NASA showed……

Though the MS-23 is scheduled to dock with the ISS early on Sunday morning Moscow time, it is not expected to bring home Russian cosmonauts Dmitry Petelin and Sergei Prokopyev, and US astronaut Frank Rubio until later this year.

The three arrived at the ISS in September 2022 onboard the MS-22 spacecraft and were originally to stay about six months until the end of March. But the MS-22 began to leak coolant in December after an apparent micro-meteorite punctured an external radiator.

The same thing appeared to happen again earlier this month, this time on a docked Russian cargo ship. Camera views showed a small hole in each spacecraft………

Italy detains Migrant Rescue Ship and fines Medical Charity- new Racist Decree Law says -Leave Them To Die-

Italy is flaunting its new racist Laws passed by the Far Right Govt that force Rescuers to abandon second rescues and head straight to port, leaving others to die.

Italy’s far-right government is taking legal action against a vessel operated by MSF in the Mediterranean

Italian authorities have detained and fined a rescue ship operated by Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres, or MSF), shortly after parliament passed into law a government decree establishing a code of conduct for migrant charity ships.

The rescue ship Geo Barents was placed in administrative detention for 20 days and issued a 10,000 euros ($10.500) fine, the organisation said on Thursday evening.

12,667 migrants have reached Italy so far this year, although this is double the same period of 2022 it is a tiny fraction of Italy’s 60,228,034 population (2023). The de facto Death Sentence of the new decree law is in reality just playing far right politics to a public conned into blaming migrants for inflation, unemployment and war.

MSF said in a tweet that Italian authorities entered the vessel on Thursday evening and notified the crew of the disciplinary measures.

“We are assessing what legal actions we can take to challenge what happened,” MSF said.

“It is not acceptable to be punished for saving lives.”
