New York Anarchist Book, Arts and Film Fair .. Sept 6th and 7th.

New York Anarchist Bookfair to feature Ben Morea and Silvia Federici

Announcing this years New York Anarchist Bookfair, taking place on September 6th and 7th.

Via It’s Going Down  As climate emergency looms, the specter of war and fascism haunts us. In the media and in the world around us, we watch the super wealthy ruling corporative elites persisting in maintaining the exploitative death-culture hierarchy of white, cis, patriarchal, Imperialist, and colonial capitalism. At the NYC Anarchist Book Fair we believe that can be changed, and it takes a village to invent the future.

In its 13th edition, the book fair pays tribute to the anarchist and activist Willem Van Spronsen, who was killed as he tried to disrupt ICE camps activities, and the counterculture anarchist artist Ben Morea. An exhibition of Morea’s drawings (features in this year’s book fair Poster) will be exhibited during the bookfair and art festival. During the book fair, Morea hosts a workshop/dialogue session around Revolutionary Animism.

Workshops also include Silvia Federici talking about “The Struggle for the Commons”, and debates on queer – trans feminisms, Antifa, immigration and ecology anarchism, among others. The book fair this year will offer a care-space, where healing practitioners and artists will offer group and individual care experiences. [A new communiqué from the CCRI-CG of the EZLN was just released in Spanish (link below). This is a translation of a report on the communiqué in La Jornada with a list of the new Caracols and autonomous municipalities. This is awesome news! Of special interest to the Chiapas Support Committee is that San Manuel, our former partner autonomous municipio is now a Caracol with its headquarters located in Dolores Hidalgo. Record surge in Amazon fires: Our House Is Burning Down!

More and more people are realizing that irreversible Climate change is happening now. This coincides with the far right takeover of the Brazilian State, hitching it to the insane policies of greed and destruction of the US Regime. But the militarist and misogynist Brazilian right is not yet all powerful. We can still exert pressure in many ways, perhaps in Europe by supporting threats to cancel the upcoming EU/Mercosur trade agreement if the Brazilian regime continues its policies and its campaign to destroy the Amazon Rainforest, which belongs to nobody and us all.

Amazon burning: Brazil reports record surge in forest fires

Brazilian Amazon beset by 9,500 new forest fires since Thursday, prompting fresh scrutiny of President Bolsonaro’s environmental stewardship.

Fires raging in Brazil‘s Amazon rainforest have hit a record high number this year, according to new data from the country’s space research agency, as concerns grow over President Jair Bolsonaro‘s management of the environment.

7 Steps You Can Take to Help Save the Amazon Rainforest

Nearly 73,000 fires were recorded between January and August, compared with 39,759 in all of 2018, the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) said on Monday. The surge marks an 83 percent increase over the same period last year and is the highest since INPE records began in 2013.

Satellite images spotted more than 9,500 new forest fires since Thursday alone, mostly in the Amazon basin, home to the world’s largest tropical forest and seen as vital to slowing the pace of global warming.

The sixth edition of the ‘Daisies’ March took place in Brasília on Aug. 13 and 14.
