British police detain and interrogate Grayzone journalist Kit Klarenberg for Telling the Truth

As soon as journalist Kit Klarenberg landed in his home country of Britain on May 17, 2023, six anonymous plainclothes counter-terror officers detained him.

British counter-terror police detained journalist Kit Klarenberg upon his arrival at London’s Luton airport and subjected him to an extended interrogation about his political views and reporting for The Grayzone.

During Klarenberg’s detention, police seized the journalist’s electronic devices and SD cards, fingerprinted him, took DNA swabs, and photographed him intensively. They threatened to arrest him if he did not comply.

Klarenberg’s interrogation appears to be London’s way of retaliating for the journalist’s blockbuster reports exposing major British and US intelligence intrigues. In the past year alone, Klarenberg revealed how a cabal of Tory national security hardliners violated the Official Secrets Act to exploit Brexit and install Boris Johnson as prime minister.

In October 2022, he earned international headlines with his exposé of British plans to bomb the Kerch Bridge connecting Crimea to the Russian Federation.

Then came his report on the CIA’s recruitment of two 9/11 hijackers this April, a viral sensation that generated massive social media attention.

Among Klarenberg’s most consequential exposés was his June 2022 report unmasking British journalist Paul Mason as a UK security state collaborator hellbent on destroying The Grayzone and other media outlets, academics, and activists critical of NATO’s role in Ukraine.

Because Klarenberg’s reporting on Mason relied heavily on leaked emails, Mason falsely accused him of “assisting a Russian state-backed hack-and-leak disinformation campaign.” Mason has also reported the leak of his emails to the British police.

Emma Briant, a self-styled disinformation expert who participated in Mason’s campaign to sabotage NATO critics, dispatched lawyers to demand Klarenberg remove all of his articles that mention her from the internet. The lawyer letters also threatened costly super injunctions to prevent further reporting, and challenged the “authenticity” of the emails’ content.

A fact that calls into question the viability of biofuels based on residues such as animal fats, despite the fact that they are sold as the panacea to decarbonise the European transport sector.

The use of biodiesel from animal fats to power our cars and planes has doubled in the last decade and is 40 times higher than in 2006, a new study by Transport & Environment (T&E) shows.

The environmental group, together with ECODES and Ecologistas en Acción, calls for more transparency so that consumers know what goes into their deposits and feeds their flights.

The EU promotes this by-product of industrial and intensive farming to, supposedly, reduce carbon emissions from the fuels used in transport, despite the strong impact of this model of industrial farming on emissions. Now they target aircraft and, to a lesser extent, ships.

However, as T&E warns in its study, there are not enough fats to meet all the demand.

Almost half of European animal fats are already used for the production of biodiesel, despite the fact that they are widely used in the animal feed, soap and cosmetics industries:

The burning of biofuels from animal fats will triple by 2030 , which poses two bottlenecks in terms of its availability and sustainability.

In fact, today, as T&E warns, talking about sustainable production is not correct in the case of a sector such as industrial livestock farming with high methane emissions and deforestation due to imported soybeans for animal feed.

Carlos Rico, responsible for biofuels in the Spanish office of T&E, affirms that “it turns out that pigs fly. We’ve been burning animal fats in cars for years without drivers knowing. Now they will be the fuel for your next flight.

But this cannot be sustained without depriving other sectors of them, which in turn are likely to migrate to harmful alternatives such as palm oil. We need more transparency so consumers know what goes into their tanks and fuels their flights.”

Large airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air have recently closed important agreements with oil suppliers for the manufacture of so-called “sustainable aviation fuels” (SAF, for its acronym in English). Information on the exact raw materials used in SAFs is often imprecise and not transparent.

Not a single healthy person under age 50 died of Covid-19 in Israel, according to data released by the country’s ministry of health in response to a freedom of information request from lawyer Ori Xabi.

In addition to requesting the number of Covid-19 deaths that had occurred in patients under 50 with no underlying health conditions, Xabi also asked the ministry to provide the average age of patients who died of the disease, segmented by vaccination status, as well as the annual number of cardiac arrest cases between 2018 and 2022.

The average age of fatalities among those vaccinated against Covid-19 was 80.2 years, while the average for the unvaccinated was 77.4, according to the ministry. Very close to the average of death anyway!

However, the MoH claimed to be unable to provide cardiac arrest information for the years 2021 and 2022, explaining that the information had not yet been transferred to them.

A study published last year analyzing data from the Israel National Emergency Medical Services found a shocking 25% spike in emergency services calls due to cardiac arrests for patients aged 16 to 39 taking place from January to May 2021.

However, Sharon Elroy-Pries, head of Public Health Services for the Ministry of Health, condemned efforts to draw a connection to the start of the Covid-19 vaccination program in December 2020 and denied that there had been an increase in cardiac arrests during that time, or any increase in deaths of young people.

Cardiologist Retsef Levi, one of the authors of the study, pointed out that the ministry had claimed not to have information on cardiac arrests for 2021 and 2022, meaning one of the two claims had to be false.

While the MoH insisted the data it provided to Xabi regarding patients aged 18 to 49 was limited to cases in which an epidemiological investigation had been completed, it is known to have access to a database that includes extensive data on all patients, including underlying conditions, irrespective of whether an epidemiological investigation was performed.

Yehezkelli called the MoH’s response “a bit naive,” questioning why it had withheld the full data, but pointed out that the statistics vindicated government critics. “It was definitely a disease that actually only endangered the elderly,” he said, pointing out that the MoH’s numbers showed the average age of death from Covid-19 was 80.
