On a video podcast the other day, I made reference to the lockdown orders of March 2020. The host turned off the recording. He said it was fine to talk about this subject but from now on please refer to “the events of March 2020” with no specifics.
Otherwise, it will be taken down by YouTube and Facebook. He needs those platforms for reach, and reach is necessary for his business model.
I complied, but I was spooked. Are we really now in the position that talking about what happened to us is verboten on mainstream venues? Sadly, that seems to be where we headed. In big and small ways, and throughout the culture and the whole world, we are bit by bit being trained to forget and hence not learn and thus repeat the whole thing.
This makes no sense since nearly every public issue in play today traces to those fateful days and the fallout thereof, including censorship, the entrenchment of industry-government oligarchs, the corruption of media and tech, the educational upheaval, the abuse of courts and law, and the developing financial and banking crisis.
And yet hardly anyone wants to speak about the topic frankly. It is too upsetting. There is too much at stake. We cannot risk being canceled, the single greatest fear of every aspirational professional in today’s world. Plus too many powerful people were in on it and don’t want to admit it. It would appear that the whole subject is being memoryholed in ways of which they all approve.
For nearly two years, or longer, respectable intellectuals knew not to dissent from the prevailing norms and challenge the whole machinery. This was true of Washington think tanks, which went on their merry way from March 2020 either celebrating the “public health response” or just remaining quiet. The same was true of the leadership of major political parties and third parties.
Most religious leaders stayed quiet too, even as their doors were padlocked for as long as 2 holiday seasons. Civic organizations played along. If you thought that the job of the ACLU was to defend civil liberties, you were wrong: they one day decided that lockdowns, mandatory masks, and forced shots were essential to their mission.
ABC News has censored an interview with US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – Joe Biden’s top challenger for the Democratic Party’s 2024 nomination – by removing his allegedly false assertions about Covid-19 vaccines.
“We should note that during our conversation, Kennedy made false claims about the Covid-19 vaccines,” ABC anchor Linsey Davis said on Thursday after airing her interview with the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy.
She added that Kennedy made “misleading claims” contrary to research findings about a link between certain vaccines and autism. “We’ve used our editorial judgment in not including portions of that exchange in our interview.”
Davis sparred with Kennedy during the interview, saying his past claims about vaccines causing autism had been totally “debunked.” As the candidate began to explain…

Freedom NOW for Ayse – and all political prisoners in Turkey
Kurdish politician Ayşe Gökkan, imprisoned in Turkey, has failed for the time being with her appeal against her sentence to more than two decades in prison.
Gökkan had been sentenced to 22 years and 6 months in prison on so-called terror charges by the 9th Criminal Chamber in Diyarbakır in October 2021. A regional court of appeal in Amed (tr. Diyarbakır) confirmed the verdict on Wednesday.
The sentence is made up of several sentences: twelve years for alleged leadership of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), seven and a half years for alleged membership of the same organisation and three years for alleged PKK propaganda.
Ayşe Gökkan was born in the Suruç district of Urfa in 1965 and studied journalism. She has been arrested more than 80 times, and the preliminary proceedings against her were usually based on so-called terror charges.
In 2009, Gökkan was elected mayor of Mardin’s Nusaybin district with 83 percent of the vote. Most of the investigations against her occurred during her term of office. Gökkan was elected spokesperson of the Free Women’s Movement (TJA) in February 2020.
In December of that year, she was sentenced to eighteen months in prison in Mardin.
In the trial she was accused of being in a restricted military area and causing damage to property. The charge stems from an act of civil obedience in October 2013.
Ayse’s hunger strike at new Syrian border wall
At the time, Gökkan was mayor of Nusaybin and protested against the construction of a military wall with a hunger strike on the border with Syria.
It’s not the first time she’s been in jail. The last time she was in prison was in 2017 for five months. She was also taken into police custody dozens of times.

The journalist Zehra Dogan spent 20 months in jail for painting the copy of this photo above. Hundreds of journalists are still jailed. ( Zehra was a founder of JINHA, Turkey’s first women’s news agency, which was shut down in 2016 under Statutory Decree No. 675 along with 180 other media outlets.) Ayşe Gökkan, now spokeswoman of the Free Women’s Movement has now been confirmed for 22,5ears jail accused of ‘terrorism’, Sept 2021 trial. She has been arrested over 80 times already.
